Over the years I have read many books and examined many teachings. Michel Singer for me is the pinnacle of practicality and method. Gratefully am I.

My experience of the thinking mind (ego) is profound. I have three practices that I would like to share with you. The first is, I accept that the thinking mind has activated negativity (been triggered). I then allow to feel what is happening in the moment. I actually sit and focus inward. I silently ask, "is there a sensation somewhere in my body?" If so, I watch it. I don't interact with it. I simply give it space and allow the sensation to process. Once a sigh slips through my lips it is over (usually within seconds). In the beginning of this practice, soon after the involuntary sigh, my consciousness would flash a picture. Meaning, a past trauma would spring to mind. I instinctively knew that that old trauma was processed and won't bother me again. I've let it go. If there is no sensation in my body, by sitting quietly and getting present, it still allows me to settle down and become calm (as Singer suggests). The best part is, by NOT taking any action it heightens my intuition or consciousness. It then gives me insight on what, if anything, to do moving forward. The second practice I do for reoccurring negative thoughts is "The Work" by Byron Katie. I take a negative statement that the thinking mind thinks often and ask the four questions and do the turn around. The best part is, once I see the lie I can't unsee it (this usually causes laughter), and continuously removes the power from the thinking mind. My point being, if I react outwardly (lash out, yell, blame, point fingers at, rage, beg, complain, justify, sulk, cry, act like a victim, etc.) it strengthens the thinking mind (ego). It will then use the same type of scenarios to get me to react again and again. And finally, if the thinking mind is active and I want it to quiet down, I silently ask, "I wonder what my next thought will be?" Silence. Or, "Who am I?" Silence. Or, "Who do these thoughts belong to?" Again, silence. I noticed the thinking mind (ego) doesn't respond to curiosity. I hope one or two or all three work for you too!

Mickey is spot on. I wish that William Donahue of hidden meanings and Mickey could have hooked up. Bill talks about out butter space and hidden meanings of the Bible that be of interest in debunking peoples thinking. Just a thought. If a person is hung up on Bible information, then checking Hidden Meanings by William Donahue will help you understand deeply what Mickey is saying You must practice the little steps that Mickey points out to do. Enjoy your life journey.
