There is a self. All day long there's a self that someone created, someone killed, someone missed, someone loved, someone procreated with, and eventually died. No self is different than being mortal. No self is denying what is. If there is nothing, there would be nothing to be, to share, to continue, to experience....to identify. I have enough nightly nightmares to know when I wake up, im unfortunately still here. Why do people lie about being. Even if its just temporary. Having to believe in no self is the start of the lie. I enjoy watching the videos though. Mainly because I assume people are smart and I cant get past this ideology. I just come to the conclusion that people are misusing words. Because were here, and theres some really painful consequences of it.

There is a self, it's just not what we think. It's fabricated, like you said in your post. A classic example is a rainbow. It's the decomposition of light through drops of water, right ? So, the object "rainbow", the colorful and insubstantial arc in the sky, we know it's not "real", like, there is not an actual solid thing there, it's actually just light and droplets. Yet we experience it, we experience the phenomenon rainbow, and it's causal in a way, we react to it, might feel emotion looking at it, we can talk about it... But it's insubstantial. What is the ontological status of a rainbow ? It's like a strange in between real and not-real. It appears yet isn't real. "Like a magical illusiin, like a drop of dew, like a bubble of foam... So it is with self. It's not no-self, it's not-self. Everything exists in this way, in between real and not real. Helpful ? Trust that the myriad people who've seen that aren't just trying to make a buck nor are in fact full of it. You can see it too, it's closer than close, blindingly so. Best wishes
