What an incredible player and his tone is stellar. All done with a pair of Fender hot rod deville's. Tone, is, most definitely in the fingers :-)

nice touch couldn't quite make it on that hi sustaining note at 1:50 a santana signature his crazy sustain through his MESA Boogie amp and as serious amount of compression, not gonna get there with a strat

I can only assume you're writing from 40 years ago...

I do not think he can achieve that sustain with such a clean sound. Needs gain for that. I get it through my mesa rectoverb 25. Nice version though.

A Strat can do it. Feedback is a combination of gain, volume, guitar resonance and where you are in relation to the cabinet. I have three Strats that’d do it all night long, just as my PRS guitars will. I have one Mesa and two ToneKings amps and any of them have plenty of gain to hang onto notes beautifully. Santana has learned where to stand for the notes he wants. That’s the main trick. But it’s not that hard, it just takes some experimenting and an electric guitar that sounds good when it’s not plugged in.

Probably because his amps are faced the opposite. It has nothing to do with the guitar.

He is michael, no need to try to copy others tone! This is brilliant! Love it:)

Can anyone explain why some musicians turn their amp back to front as shown at 2:29? I have seen a couple of people do this and do not know why?
@erpaloinen6 жыл бұрын
Jim Tall So that the guitar player can really turn it up, and not destroy anyones ears. He also has two amps, the placement could be for getting a different kind of stereo sound.
