I'm at a time in my life when I take joy from seeing people thriving and achieving. The world needs more Michaela Coels. This series took on a lot of issues and made me think about a lot of stuff I really hadn't considered from my position of privilege. Most importantly, it explored nuance. Social media has reduced discourse to polarised views. Just brilliant writing.

Michaela bloody Coel!!!! I'm just in awe sitting here and listening to her thought process and her breaking down the symbolism and metaphors of this pilot. She really is a creative in every sense of the word. A creator, actually. I'm so proud of her sharing her light and word/world's with us. It inspires me so much to see an artist being so passionate and involved with their art, and also teaching us/educating us/explaining it to us so that we can get a deeper insight into it & even take more from it. We love you Michaela! Good job! Keep on and keep it up! All the best to other creators and creatives out there :) This is what our work should aim towards: telling a story, and telling it in a way that we are bringing people into it :) To make beautiful art :)

Why didn't IMDY get as much attention as Normal People and Promising Young Woman? There are more questions, than answers. But I was truly surprised after covering all three for my series Lessons of Life & Love. There was marked difference between them, with IMDY notably lagging behind in online discussions and article coverage. Who knows why. It's an eye-opening, fresh take, that can teach us all A LOT.
