I've been playing Yuel for a good while now, recently hit masters. Some of these things you kind of intrinsically learn as someone who just wants to play their game all the time every time. But it's so nice to hear it out loud, makes me think harder about the traps I'm employing rather than unga-bunga. Thanks!

Thank you dude, these are the types of guide im always on the lookout for, knowing and understanding the gameplan is much more important than the classic "do these combos"
@nevrankroaton11 ай бұрын
This is a very insightful video, I think you gave me the best way of approaching her gameplan out of any video I saw so far. Also, I think it is very important to give tools like her safejump after a throw and this insane stance meaty one because it give some basic tools for new player to focus on and use as a corner stone on their thinking.

Yuel is so amazing, the frame traps and turn stealing that she haves works very well with me since I'm not that respectful (kinda of a bad habit of me trying to steal turns), I played a lot of characters since Granblue Vanilla but I always come back to Yuel because of these reasons, plus she's cute and fun to play, I've been trying to master her too, S++ at this moment, eventually I'll get there.
@MikeyDLuffy11 ай бұрын
Yea she's crazy fun. This usually isn't a play style I naturally gravitate towards but her kit is just built around it so well that I was having way too much fun just learning her at first haha

ok so this video actually helped me finally understand not just yuel but GBVS as a whole. my only other experience with fighting games is GGST (floor 8 testament) and i realized i was failing to adapt the GBVS' slower pace, shorter turns and neutral heavy gameplans. pressure in this game doesn't mean dishing out 5 second long blockstrings and telling my opponent to eat this mix when no string is more than like 2 seconds and my character ain't got no mix. it's all about spacing and pacing your moves. i got all that from your explanation of yuel's 2M. i was getting my ass kicked in B5 before but immediately after this video i got to B2 with a single win streak. so thanks for that.
@MikeyDLuffy10 ай бұрын
Haha glad I could help! Definitely hard going from one fighting game to the next as it gets so hard to realize how differently you need to play, but overall I think it helps you get a better understanding as a whole as you get used to different games. Good luck in the climb!

very happy to have this guide thank you! the more matches i played the more i realized things i learned from vanilla don't always translate the same, and how much i have to adapt to the new mechanics. i don't normally play rushdown either i main guile in sf and aoi in vf... but yuel has a really interesting kit compared to other rushdown charas i've tried. getting people with stance is instant dopamine hit

I really appreciate your content, I feel like most fighting game tutorial content is kinda samey and bad, they mostly just teach optimal combos and maybe setups after optimal combos, but those are like the least important things you need when learning a new character. They never talk about how to play neutral, how to condition your oponent and the general gameplan with said character. I'll problably try Yeul with the help of your guide now, even tho rushdown is not really my forte at all you just showed me a very simple and effective gameplan that kinda loops in on itself, so I feel like even I can have some results with her now.
@MikeyDLuffy11 ай бұрын
Appreciate it! I wouldn't call that kind of content bad, but I agree that many guides will just go over things that aren't too difficult to find out on your own, but often don't help you actually feel like you have a good gameplan with a character which I what I try to do!

You might already know this, but throws can punish Yuel if she commits to chaining normals into fox flame. I guess that's part of the mind game but I was bummed to find that out.
@MikeyDLuffy11 ай бұрын
Yea it is a bit unfortunate but commiting to mashing throw in this game is a bit risky so if it's something we catch on to we can get a big punish. That seems like the story of Yuel as a whole haha. Lots of counterplay for these situations on both ends

I believe some of her frametraps don't work against grabs (I believe cL cH?) Because she moves foward and her cH is a bit slower than others.

Amazing video, thank you ! I'm fed up of those combos videos teaching you nothing but Guitar Hero. I like having a better understanding to why I'm doing what I'm doing. I'd have a question. What if your opponent delay buttons in the frame traps ? I faced a guy, he was always blocking, and whenever I was walking up to grab, he was pressing at good timing. I guess I'd need to press a button catching his startup ? Which one ? A comprehensive anti turtling guide would be awesome ! Also, what to do if somebody spot dodges the auto combo 22L / 22M mind game, or spot dodges the 214H ? Is the move slow enough for them to react to your move and spot dodges after you can't U stance anymore ? So if they are good, the 214H is quite useless, no ? Thx.

fck yea xenoblade music can you explain what is meant by frame trap, being "plus" or "minus", 66L?
@a_shrxydud10 ай бұрын
a frame trap is where you intentionally leave a gap between two moves while the opponent is blocking, for example blocked close light (cL) into close heavy (cH). With frame traps, the gap is smaller than the startup time of the opponents fastest move, usually 5 frames in granblue, so if the enemy chooses to press any button that isnt invincible they will be counter hit by the second move. Plus and minus refers to the advantage on block of a move. Plus means that the attacker can move before the defender after the defender blocked the move. Minus means the defender gets to move before the attacker, and even means both can move at the exact same time. Its measured in frames, like everything to do with moves in fighting games. 66L is the numpad notation for dash light. The numbers refer to the stick inputs, and the letter is the button you press (L, M, H, U). Direction is based on number pads, so 5 is neutral since its the middle, 2 is down, 6 is forward etc.
