H2 Hummer Repairs: Door Panel removal and Power Window repair

This window regulator for my 2003 H2 Hummer cost less than 60 dollars at JC Whitney.com, so if your window quits working properly like mine, I hope this video might help you with your repair and/or personal knowledge on how to remove and install your window regulator,motor,door panel so that you can fix your Hummer.
Replacing your broken window regulator something that can be done with basic tools and a few hours.
I bought my replacement regulator from JC Whitney and it has worked well.
As with any repair, be sure you know what's broken before you order parts.

GREAT VIDEO lost cable on my window in 4 degrees below zero driving home . locked it up the best i could and I too thought there were screws under the armrest lol . Was confusing to me how do you oil and where do you oil them somehow my other window froze up and i want to also do my sun roof . coast has negative effects on parts . how tight do you tighten the window ? thanks again my regulator works its the cable that broke

So far these replacement regulator haven’t lasted and this one has already broke just a few months after this install. The other rear passenger ore regulator has failed also. I hope to find some/brand that last as long as the oem, but like a lot of stuff on hummers/GM it’s a lot of plastic, and we all know that does last. As for oiling, I think if your having to do some repairs in the door and wanting to try and maintain the operation of the window regulator, you could oil the cable where it is exposed at to help reduce friction during operation. The plastic plug looking piece that comes out of the regulator and that half moon cable guide are what if found to the main failure as they break. I’ve never had a regulator issue yet, just other pieces connoted to the workings of the window regulator that break. Thanks for watching.

The liner in my 2005 is glued in place with something that's incredibly tough. I'm used to seeing the black tacky goo that peels and resticks. This stuff is one use and it is beyond tenacious. I tore the foam backing in a couple spots.

Sounds like someone may have previously done some work in there and used some other product to reseal the water shield back with out thinking about ever removing it again.

@@MichaelEd You could be right. But it looked untouched when I popped off the panel. The liner sheet is different from yours altogether. It's an off-white moulded, thin foam with a thick insulation blanket on the face. This is my son's H2. They quoted him $600 to do the this $60 fix. The Hummer Tax is much like the Corvette Tax. LOL. So I'm tinkering with it while he's out of town on work. Thanks for the video, BTW! All the best!

🤔 might have been something GM used to help reduce road noise in the cabin compared to my 2003. Sorry to hear about the so-called luxury tax they are putting on you. Personally, if the panel is good, water shield reseals on the door frame and your clips are good, I worry to much about foam backing.👍 I hope all goes well with the repair.

Wiper regulator, could be bad.🤷‍♂️ I’d start with the fuse and the check for voltage at the fuse. Check for voltage at the switch. Check for voltage at the regulator. You should be able to find what has quit working by then, but that is where I would start if i was having that issue.

thank you so much that small last piece door panel you screwed back into the door to complete the install, the screw itself ? Where does that go into ? My H2 rear left door has no place for that screw to screw into so it just dangles with nothing to hold it in place any suggestion's ?

There should be a something like a metal clip or a plastic insert for the screw to screw into and hold the cover panel in place. If not your is either missing, broken or down in the bottom of the door. If you can’t find it or a replacement atm, you could get-away with using some black rtv or some silicone chalk to hold it in place until you can get one. Those clips or inserts should be easily found on-line or at the auto parts store. I just not sure what size or clip insert application is needed. Hope this help ya. @@MichaelEd I bought my 2006 hummer used so my rear left door has both clips broken sadly. I am wonder if those two left and right clips are a part of the actual door cover or just a separate piece? i looked on EBAY put i can't find exactly what I need. Any hep would be greatly apricated thanks !

hotmasked1 so from what I’m understanding is that the “clips” you are referring to are part of the door panel? The actually plastic on the backside that holds the retaining pin that gets pushed into the door to secure the panel is part of the panel and if broken you might have to get creative to fix/repair it in order to secure panel to the door.

The story of my life. Working on the Hummer again. The crap GM builds. My Hummer stays parked more that I get to drive it. A real money pit. The little plastic keeper broke. Shame on GM!

Those plastic bits on a H2 is the weakest link on mine. Other than that, I still daily mine with trying to rotate the other vehicles I spot light on the channel. Hummers have far the best 4x4 system, but the cutting of weight with the plastic keepers and trim pieces can’t handle what these rigs were built for. 🤷‍♂️ Personal experience owning several different brands; doesn’t matter they all have their quirks and breakdown, but for me at the end of the day it’s about what I enjoy wheeling around in that keeps me going. That Mustang of mine has left me stranded more than anything. I never gave up on it and now it’s just as reliable as any of my other vehicles. I’m sure things will get better and you’ll have that Hummer conquering the roads again. 💪 I just released a new Hummer video last Saturday, with performance upgrades on the shocks. Tye, I appreciate you chiming in, we all can relate with your situation and totally understand how frustrating it can be. Work,Repair,Enjoy, repeat✌️
