Got the same plug and go lamps, but I have wifi enabled bulbs in that I can adjust the percentage. 61% on my left and about 52% on my right. Should put some material over it to soften it, but not quite there yet.

Proper lighting. In your case probably a better low light lens. Grain happens when there is not enough light hitting the sensor. Brighter lights or a more appropriate lens resolve the issue.

I changed my resolution in the screen at 4:00 to 720p too see what it looked like, it looked really bad so I changed it back to 1080p but it looks the exact same as it did in 720p. the colour looks much worse as well. I'm not sure what I did but I even installed the software for my webcam and it looks really bad in there too, changing the resolution in the software doesn't make it any better. I am worried I may have broke something.

I think one of the most important settings for a webcam to look it’s best is to turn the gain all the way down to zero. Less work on the computer and a better look on the camera. Unfortunately it is something you have to reset almost every tome though.

Also, you can use custom luts setting for the camera (a bit more advanced setting to the webcam). These also help. Think of it like an extra layer of color correction filters that are applied to the camera's video output. Look it up - I'm sure Mike has a few videos on the subject (I kind of remember something from him). Nice advice overall.

One further addition: I have a webcam built into my ZenBook that I use for all my OBSing. When I updated to Windows 11 (let's just let that pass for now) suddenly my webcam looked like rubbish. It turns out that Windows replaced the Asus driver with its own generic driver in the upgrade. After downloading and installing the actual Asus driver, my webcam again looked halfway decent. (It's not my Logitek C920 and definitely not my video camera with my Elgato capture card, but it's always there and already set up.) Bottom line: Try installing your webcam manufacturer's drivers before futzing with settings and such. It might not be awesome, but it'll likely be better than a generic driver.

Very helpful on the webcam tweaks, but Mike, why reframe it in the software when you have an easy , practical solution - just put the webcam physically closer to your face w/ a $9 articulating arm or $20 boom mic stand.

ironically my old webcam worked better than the new one that was more expensive lol. and you could say it's cause of my lighting, but my old webcam didn't have that issue with it oddly enough what's with 4k cams that can't just detect or make good lightening? and it's even choppier than my old one that or Depstech isn't as good as it claims
