To Kansas State's credit, they were playing Star Trek's Theme Music when the incident happened. If you watch this clip without any volume, then yeah you're more inclined to see something else. For band members across the nation though, this is certainly a teachable lesson on the importance of executing drills.

Just to make things straight : KSU was making a little skit with the Jayhawk. They were supposed to be killing it, not anything bad. It was something to entertain everybody. For the people who say that this performance was not good at all, just stop. This was in the past, and we can’t do anything about it now. ( Felt good to get that off my mind ).

It's a battle and bird attacks with mouth biting the enterprise. In this band director's world of star track, apparently rock-beats-scissors rules apply and this causes it to implode. Incredibly lame and sloppy skit but hardly pornographic unless you're the kind that also finds non-vulgar words like "moist" pornographic. Dude will lose his job inevitably, getting fined is really unnecessary as is the public outcry. This is NOTHING to apologize about except maybe the guy's admission he failed at his job. Although given the public's general stupidity and the university's idiotic overreaction to some social media sensationalism, I'd argue he really shouldn't have said anything at all because they're worse.

If I were K-State, I would not apologize if they really meant for it to be a space ship, otherwise, why apologize?
