Speaking about the menu just being a suggestion. I told our waitress that my favorite meal was spaghetti and meatballs. Nowhere on the Dream did they serve spaghetti and meatballs (at least not for adults) The very next night I had a huge plate of spaghetti and meatballs served to me at dinner. I was told that it was made and two different restaurants. The marinara and noodles came from one restaurant, ans the meatballs came from another. Our next trip is on the Fantasy, during Mardi Gras of 19. CAN'T WAIT!

I have a tip! On Castaway Cay, check the personal navigator for an event called “The Dig at Monstro Point”. I went to this with my son. Mickey Mouse was there digging in the sand with the kids for whale bones. There were only 11 kids and Mickey. Such a magical experience, but not many people know about it.

When I went on my Disney Cruise, I was about 7 and my favorite food was banana bread. There was a restaurant that had one, when my family moved on to the next I was upset about the banana bread wasn’t there, we politely asked if there was some. The waiter then went to that restaurant and got the banana bread for me. Then the next night on our 3rd restaurant, the banana bread was waiting on our table! It was amazing and it made my entire cruise and even 15 years later I still remember this amazing experience!

My pro tip is- if you really enjoyed something in one restaurant- order it again at the next; they will get it for you. Even if it isn't on the menu of the restaurant you are in- they have it and will be sure to make you happy. My partner got the Black Truffle Pasta every night, sometimes double order for dinner.

Don't be afraid to ask for the kids menu if you don't see anything you might like on the regular menu. Nothing wrong with getting the chicken tenders or a corn dog instead of the fancy selections. This goes for desserts as well.

If you're going on an Alaskan Cruise here's a tip: During the cruise, the ship will stop by either Tracy Arm Glacier or Endicott Arm Glacier (alternative), if you want to explore the ship a little bit more it's ok if you don't book a boat trip to get a closer look at the glacier, you could still look at it from deck 10 ( would recommend using binoculars and saving a spot because it gets really crowded! ). I would also recommend buying some binoculars in advance ( if you want to ) because binoculars on the ship cost a lot!

Just got off the Fantasy for a 7-Day Eastern Caribbean Cruise. This was my second DCL voyage. This is a tip for Moms (and Dads) with kids on board and you need some quick ME time. Take your showers in the Senses Spa changing rooms. They are free to use and you can take advantage of the spacious showers with rainfall shower heads and use the luxurious Elemis products in there. It was nice to shower in there after I used the gym but I just regularly just started showering in there while someone else was in the shower in my stateroom.

We didn't get to see sleepwalking Goofy, but we saw TONS of characters wandering in the halls! I cannot WAIT to go again, every aspect of the cruise is so magical!

On our last cruise aboard the Disney Fantasy, we opted out of the pirate night dinner. I don't know if they still offer this, but for dinner they convert the buffet (or a portion of it) to a sit down steak restaurant. We enjoyed a quiet steak dinner away from the regular dining room.

Great tips! On 7-night or longer cruises DCL will have a Captains Reception or Captains Gala and you can meet and get your photo taken with the captain and other ship officers. During that reception servers will walk around with free alcoholic & non-alcoholic beverages. On my cruise there was a choice of three different ones. Normally it's the same night as formal night but it's not on all cruises. And fyi, formal night is optional on DCL.

Just got off the Fantasy a few weeks ago. Regarding specialty dining: in reality, pre-boarding online reservations for Palo/Remy (and especially, brunch at either) are extremely limited. If you're not Gold or Platinum CC, you're not going to get a reservation before boarding. I had no problem booking once on-board (even with a 12:45 Port Arrival Time). But, note: on embarkation day, the ship will have a designated place for making dining changes (in our case, it was Animator's Palette). You need to go to *that* location, and not to Palo/Remy directly. And when you do, let them know that you're only trying to book Palo/Remy; otherwise, you'll get stuck in the (much longer) line of people trying to make MDR changes. And on that note: Palo brunch (only offered on sea days) was, hands down, the best time and money I spent on the ship.

One secret is- if you liked a meal you had the other night and want to get it again- they might be able to get it for you if they still have it available. Also if you have any dietary restrictions or just don't like a certain item on a meal, you can ask for it without it. They will do their best to accommodate you!

Here are my tips (trust me I've been on more than 5) For the 10, 11, and 12 year olds at the kids club during lunch tell the cast members that you're not hungry. Then the lines for the Disney infinity, and the minlenum (idk how to spell it) falcon will be super short. And on your first cruise use the midship detective agency as a way to see the ship.

In the dining room, at the end of your meal, ask for an extra portion of something you really like to take back to your room for a late night snack. Bring a Soft Sided 'lunchbox' style cooler. The ice they give you doesn't last long. Ask the steward to keep that cooler filled.

While they'll happily plate up a cheese plate, shrimp cocktail, or even main course items for you to take back to the room. Bring some paper plates down from the dining hall. The large china plates will not fit in the mini fridge. Also. One night we were just too tired to deal with being 'on stage'...I went to the main dining room and got the a full meal for two people to bring back to the room...to eat on the balcony. You pretty much have to one person order it and wait and lug it down to the room. Now...for a another hint. The Elevators. People congregate around the elevators and it can be crowded. A elevator arrives and people dash to the bell. Only to find out it's not going their way. The bell ring of the elevator is a cue. One bell...(DING) is going up. Two Bells (DING DING) is Going Down. This is also in most office buildings...but first learned about it on a cruise.

Hey Michael, I have a GoPro tip given to me a few years back. Apply some Rain-X or other similar product to the plastic housing in front of the lens to prevent water beading and remaining in the shot when surfacing. We weren't on a Disney Cruise then, but the best part of that port was watching the Disney Dream dock right next to us. Even got to watch Wall-E on the flume from our boat. Going on our second Disney Cruise this summer with DVC - double dip and no foreign ports on this one. We're hooked.

I noticed that you have not ever eaten table service for lunch or breakfast. It is a wonderful experience, and while you won't get your personal wait staff, you may run into them. I have cruised with my family with Disney, and have been on all the current ships. We will be taking our 6th cruise this December 2018. We prefer the Fantasy. We don't go every year, but have gone a lot in the past 5 years. The wait staff occasionally remember me from previous cruises. They become friends. There are lots of ways to get on and off the ship. I have my own method. I'm 54 and get tired easily and because of this I have developed my own rules. I never fly and cruise on the same day. It's too exhausting. Also, like this cruise coming up, occasionally the airlines will alter their schedule. There can be any sort of delays, or weather issues. For these reasons we fly the day before and stay at a hotel near the airport. All of these airports have favored shuttle companies that will shuttle passengers to Cape Canaveral for about $40-$45. There are 6 of us so I decided to arrange private car service. It is costing us $43 per person. We will be picked up at our hotel at noon, and arrive at the ship about 1pm. I prefer smaller shuttles because I won't be lining up with a whole busload of travelers to get through security. I have a bit of a phobia with crowds, developed later in life. but on a Disney cruise ship I have found ways to avoid crowds. One is the non Disney shuttle. Another is instead of running up to cabanas while I wait for my room to be available, which has tended to be around 4 pm, We stay down on Deck 3 and hang out in a den like night club. I've avoided the crowds, we play a game, get a soda from the bartender. Much more relaxing. This year we are doing a New Years Eve cruise. Mainly because the youngsters we travel with are in 3 different colleges and the only week that coincides with all of them is Christmas break The better cabins get more expensive the higher up you go. I prefer midship. This year we completely lucked out and someone released a deck 10 aft stateroom that we snapped up. It is in the very back of the bus look online we got 10164. there is a youtube video of 10166 the cabin next door. the veranda is huge. anyway this year we are traveling in a party of 6, so we had to book a second cabin. I selected an inside cabin midship on the same deck. the college kids are all sleeping it that cabin while the Parent aged adults have the aft cabin. We can all share the veranda. We are 1 floor below Cabanas. This year I figured out how to get personalized Stateroom door magnets I got 2 from Amazon. Just googled "stateroom door magnets" and there they were. about $10 a piece. One says The McCardell Beach House, and the other says The Flophouse. On the Mickey ears is written the year and the Ship name. Since I have kids the correct age, I want to point out Disney does have a group called the 1820 society. These are planned events for passengers who are too young to drink but too old to use the kids clubs. My kids have gone to those events and met other people in their age group and had a great time. When we get off the ship, (again why haven'y you tried table service breakfasts??) We eat breakfast, say goodbye to our fantastic wait staff, and get off the ship. We go through customs and meet our car at 10:00. The car drives us to our hotel near the airport, we get our room and relax all day. This way we aren't rushing to the airport to catch a flight, or sitting around all day waiting for our later flight. We have taken away all the stress of missing a flight, or customs taking too long. missing a shuttle, etc. Food: I say go for it. The food is already included in the ticket, try the weird stuff. Try the Sushi, or escargot, or oysters on the halfshell, or beef tarter or caviar. This is the best time to try really expensive food and see what you have been missing. If you don't like it, they will get you something else. No loss. Take pictures of your food Especially the desserts. They are works of art. I try to interpret what I see when a dessert is served to me. Thats a sailboat, or thats a guitar, or thats a bunch of kids playing. Its fun. Plus your friends looking at your vacation photos will appreciate it. Get close when you vlog. Your face doesn't have to be in every shot. I love staying on the ship when she is in port. Usually when we get off a ship theres the crowd of venders trying to sell us something; it gets old. I would much rather be pampered onboard ship. Other ship lines: I have traveled Carnival and never would again. Hated it. There was a time we were in port, on the Disney Fantasy, next to another cruise ship. I think It was Royal Carribbean. I don't really remember. I do remember it wasn't Carnival. Anyway we were sitting in the Adult section having a good time with books when I started noticing something. We have staff all around us, cleaning, picking up stray dishes, on towel duty, taking drink orders, whatever. The other ship had Island shopping commercials running on their funnel vision tv, and there wasn't a single crew member to be seen. Nowhere. Not cleaning, not picking up wet towels which were piling up, not asking passengers if they needed anything, nothing. for 45 minutes like this. Finally they left port. I was thinking and they think nothing is wrong. OMG. On Disney ships, if you take a shore excursion, say snorkling, when you get back to dock theres a couple cast members with a towel cart to take your wet towels. You don't have to carry them around when you explore the island. If you have to take a tender to the ship, as in Grand Cayman, the cast members will have a second boat just for the extra luggage, strollers, and purchases you have scored on the Island. You don't have to lug them onto the tender. Actually theres a couple good reasons why thats a good idea. Your hands are free to hang on to the tender while you board and switch to the ship easily, you dont have to clutch your parcels, and it makes more room for other passengers, keeping the line low. Muster stations: Disney muster stations are theaters, and restaurants. You have a seat. On the Carnival ship we were herded onto an outside passageway, standing, backed up to a wall, 4-5 people deep.and stood there until EVERYONE got there then heard a lecture and finally dismissed. It was awful. Horrifying. reminded me of every ship disaster movie I ever saw. Waiting to debark for an excursion: On a Carnival ship you are crammed into a hallway. On a Disney ship you wait in the theater in seats and they shuttle you off in the order you came in. So much more comfortable and relaxing.

A lot of stuff mentioned in this video are stated by Disney, and aren’t really a “secret”. The only secret not mentioned is that on every day except the last day, you can go up to Cabanas (the Buffett that serves breakfast and lunch) and have a sit down dinner there, instead of going to your assigned restaurant. This is a good idea if you want a quieter setting, or miss your assigned seating, etc. I also agree with your idea to skip out on Nassau and explore the ship. Not that much interesting there except Paradise Island. If you don’t want to miss anything, or want to know what’s going on, check the Personal Navigator, provided in your stateroom each night, or the DCL app

I went on the Disney Dream in March and I ordered like maybe a total of 20 Mickey ice cream bars on our three day cruise!

Any hints for a first time cruiser who suffers from motion sickness? Are there certain times of the year or travel destinations that make it easier?

Try the sea bands. Hear they help a lot

In Florida a pharmacist can write a rx for the ear patch motion sickness medicine. So if you have time drop by a pharmacy and have your insurance information ready (unless it's a pharmacy you use in your hometown, like CVS or Walgreens) .... Also, of you don't want go do that Disney offers free motion sickness meds (pills) at the medical center and sometimes at the front desk.

Another tip I don’t see talked about, you can go to guest relation and ask to get a dcl button like just you get at the parks.

I second not getting off the ship at Nassau. I have been there enough times and the port really doesn't have anything that remarkable to warrant getting off the ship. I basically treat all stops at Nassau as a bonus low crowd day at sea.

When i go its always crowded on the ship, no one gets off lol!
