Wow, you are such a great teacher! I've been learning a lot from your videos. I'm self taught on iMovie, and really didn't know what I could do beyond the basics. I've been applying what I've learned in your other videos, too, and am getting much improved results. This is great - thank you!

You are a GOD SEND. I am a chef who is finally starting to produce social media content after 10 years of just grinding in restaurants and now starting a business as a private chef. You explain this so thoughtfully and fool proof (I’m the fool). Your video on using QuickTime to make my iMovie vertical helped me after 24 hours of frustration trying to make an IG Reels video. Thank you so much.

These are really wonderfully well done. My 'secret sauce' is that you can copy the start and end boxes and paste them into other clips. I often use this to create the illusion of a moving POV having used a static camera.
@JacarandaMusic
@JacarandaMusic 4 жыл бұрын
PS clarify; I hadn't realised that by applying the zoom to a longer than needed clip and then cutting it the boxes are the same but can then be reversed. I was copying and pasting into the second clip, then reversing. Your way is easier, though requires a little more thinking ahead. I guess you can still use the copy and paste if the relevant clips are a long way apart, which I doubt I will need.

Super! I would have thought that for the pause section that you would just change the end point of the Ken Burns effect to the same as the start point. But I think choosing the other method saves some processing time and ensures that no mistakes are made by trying to match the start and endpoints for the pause.
@MacVideoMagic
@MacVideoMagic 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, I used to do that previously, but could never get a perfect match, so would end up with a little hiccup. This method takes more steps, but you end up with a smooth result.
@jasonsmith6292
@jasonsmith6292 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Mike, I actually discovered this feature on my own but it sure helps to see it explained easily in this video! You can also copy a clip, and paste it's Crop adjustment to another clip if you want to keep the zoomed in level, rather than redoing the Ken Burns effect later. Just one editor-to-another ;)
@MacVideoMagic

Great technique Mike, thank you for showing. I was struggling with this in my latest edit. Now I know how to do it. Qestion: could you make a tutorial about the B-roll? I've seen some things there which I don't know what they're for.
@rapid13
@rapid13 4 жыл бұрын
B-roll is basically footage of the area or subject you’re filming, but it’s not the specific thing you’re talking about. So if you were talking about a specific lens for a camera you might shoot some footage with that lens that shows off what you will be talking about. Then, when you are doing the voiceover and you get to a part where you’re giving exposition you put the b-roll over that.

Holy Moly! I was wondering why my videos were exporting at 720p when I thought it should be 1080p ... it’s because of the fist clip I put on the timeline! 🤦‍♀️ Any tips to change a project that I’ve already cut together to 1080p from 720p?
