Nice to see all these things again. Windowblinds, Rainmeter, StyleXP. I've used all of them back in the days, like 15 years ago. Spent entire nights and put alot of effort making my XP look cool. Man, that was so much fun. Nowadays for whatever reason I keep most of the stuff vanilla. But I kinda wanna go customizing again now. lol

WindowBlinds is still around and works on Windows 11. You do need Start11 for any start menu mods, though. Buying two programs sucks but they can't skin Microsoft's default start menu anymore because of modern cybersecurity stuff - a big part of Start11 is that it replaces Microsoft's taskbar/start menu code with Stardock's code.

To be clear: I am NOT a lawyer, but I do watch a legal education channel here on KZbin, so I know the answer to your question regarding the lawsuit's dismissal. When lawsuits are dismissed, they are either dismissed with or without prejudice. If it is dismissed with prejudice, that means that the claim has been adjudicated and can't be brought again (essentially similar to double jeopardy in criminal law). This is common whenever the claim that is brought has no legal merit and no amount of amending the complaint can make the claim stick in a court of law. However, if it is dismissed without prejudice (as the case is here), that means that claim is not moot, and the claim can be brought again. As it appears to be a voluntary dismissal, I think that maybe they settled out-of-court, and the claim can be brought up in court again if the settlement is not followed through by the non-moving party. But I'm not a party to the case and I have no idea as to what happened with regards to this case. I hope this helps!

I used StyleXP on my computer back in the day. Very fond memories! This is actually a great reason to stay on SP2 with XP.

I remember using this back in the XP days! They had two versions for this, one that came with "male" themes, and another with "female" themes, but other than that, it was the same program. I always kept an older version of this around because they got rid of quite a few visual styles on this version. I remember there was one called "Kiwi" and "Toothpaste" that I liked a lot. These days you can just grab the files from StyleXP, patch your Windows XP installation to enable usage of third party visual styles, and use the stuff this program came with without having to use StyleXP itself at all, which lets you use this stuff on SP3.

I remember using this back in the day. I had both male and female themes (the more the merrier) and had fun looking at each theme and changing it every now and then. Eventually switched to using UXTheme because of a far greater variety by the community! Sucks theming isn't popular anymore. Everyone has stock ass looking desktops while I'm one of the few who has Windowblinds because I still love themes and giving the desktop a "gaming" look just like i did back then.

Recently found a CD from my dad with a pirated version of this application, a key gen, and like 20 themes. The themes work without the application so I'm not sure how they correlate. I may do a video on them, but I have other ideas first. I first tried WindowBlinds on Win98. It was a resource hog, so nobody wanted to keep it for long. Plus the modified windows had poor readability. Let's face it, no matter how 'evil' Microsoft is, they put a lot of effort into comfortable use of their products. When WinXP came along, I tried the better-optimized StyleXP. I found most of its features to be gimmicky, plus I didn't want to pay. And the SP3 issue. I ended up keeping the themes only making them work stand-alone with UXTHEME Multi Patcher. I had XPSP3 with themes from StyleXP with no resource overhead and no additional service at startup. Today, I usually just use vanilla Windows with tweaked color (you can do that with no additional tools) and I'm content.

I tried to use it on an XP VM, and it kept telling me that I didn't have a supported build. I have a widely used version, not one of those beta builds. Do you know what caused that? For reference, I got an x64 version. Already found an x64 version so it's not even a compatibilty issue in that sense. Plus, I made a x32 machine to test out your download too, and it still gave me the same error.
