I grew up Jonesboro AR. All around that area is amazing land. Interesting feature is Crowley's ridge. If you have never camped in a thunderstorm in the Midwest, you're missing out on hours of praying for your life. I spent an hour under a lean too where the sky was lit like daytime, you could not tell the separation between the bolts of lightning. The ground shook so hard I would slide down the hill into the rain and had to keep pulling myself back up.

This is one of the best-researched analyses comparing the scriptural accounts to analogous natural disasters. The main school of thought seems to center on the type of volcanism that might have occurred in Central America, but which fails to take into account many elements of the reported cataclysm. I agree that this was part of a world-wide disruption, probably a vast electrical discharge event, which can account for every element, including whirlwinds, earthquakes, mists, winds, surface disruptions, massive lighting and thunder, etc. Also, it is known that electrical discharges can deplete oxygen to a level where people can just barely survive, but which is too low for combustion of "exceedingly dry" materials.

Another thing to consider is that Lake Erie and Lake Michigan extended several hundred miles farther south than they are now. A big chunk of Ohio was under water. The “narrow neck of land” needs to be taken into consideration with the Great Lakes combined with the lower Mississippi inlet. Very different geography. There are no Hopewell mounds or settlements where Lake Erie used to be at 34 AD.

Amazing how Mormon theology changes with the wind. When US. Congress refused to allow Utah statehood, due to polygamy & pedophilia .God came to the Mormon church and told them to give up multiple wives & sex with children... In1978, Jessie Jackson led a planned Salt Lake City protest of Blacks non admission to the priesthood & the temple. 100,000 Black men were organizing a protest in Utah of racist Mormon church teachings; Then, that same year, God then came to the Mormon church and told them black people were now okay. For 180 years, Mormon church taught hateful things towards Gays. Now in 2023, after bad press, God has told the Mormon church to back off the condemnation of Gays...Interesting timing of God's revelations & heat the Mormon Church was feeling.

So here is my take. I am a cyber security majority not a meteorologist nor a scientist, but I think something happened that trigger the horrible earthquakes recorded in third nephi. My reading and institute brought up quakes lasting three hours or more. My personal opinion was there was a meteor impact somewhere close that triggered the huge winds and tempests and it triggered horrible earthquakes. Correct me I am wrong, but didn’t people in Israel have a quake too. What do you think? Is it plausible? I don’t feel it was a tornado. People would have seen them. The storm that hit was something they had never seen nor heard before. Meteor impacts cause that type of wind, destruction and lightning. It would also cause cities to burn from the blast of the impact. Remember the peace the people had after Christ. Wasn’t it 200 years. It was four hundred something years until the people destroyed themselves. They didn’t record any major earth quakes in that time.

That’s right Tom. The Bible mentions in Matt 27:50-53, that in the resurrections of “Holy people” en masse When Jesus died, “the earth shook, the rocks split and the tombs broke open” (verses 51-52). Those open tombs remained open until the third day. At that time, “the bodies of many holy people . . . were raised to life. They came out of the tombs after Jesus’ resurrection and went into the holy city and appeared to many people” (verses 52-53).

@@mormonguru5984 so something drastic happened to the earth to make it shake in all places. God can do all things, and he could have caused the shaking, but I have always thought he works by natural means. We also have super volcanos in yellow stone. In a lot of the states in the plains inches of volcanic ash have been discovered and traced back to a super explosion. That type of event could have caused the vapor of smoke. Very good presentation. I ran into something that might be worth looking into. Especially given our lessons for this year. I had found a KZbin video, and I wish I would have saved it, where the subject dealt with Joseph, the Crocidile King, who came to America, making between 9-14 trips by boat. He was gathering crops to supply the stores of Egypt in preparation for and during a famine. Hmmm. The Hopi were enslaved during this time to accomplish the crops. This information had been discovered on writing found in the upper Grand Canyon caverns. What caught my attention was that these records still existed and the lady on the video said it was in the possession of the Mormon church. Now at one time, I had also been listening to histories about the Dead Sea Scrolls. This too talked about writings on bound together with metal plates that had been secreted away by the Church. Back then it was whoever could get it first became the owners of it. So it was not theft rather an act of preservation. If I find the video I will share it and mark the time stamp. Just thought these would make a great video.

Re: Storms v. Tempests. It seems that storm is more general and tempest more particular especially characterized by exceptional wind. When I read the definition of tempest myself from a couple sources, after a moment "hurricane" entered my mind. Hurricanes develop and hit all of the gulf areas now a days, and if the gulf extended farther inland anciently, and especially if there were to be a very high category hurricane, that could possibly be the case. Otherwise and if a hurricane still couldn't make landfall very far inland, perhaps some other uniquely intense wind storm and gusts took place.

Thanks for the video. Very intriguing. I’m on the fence between the Mesoamerica and heartland America theories of Book of Mormon geography. One hang up I have is this: If the Nephites and Lamanites lived in North America, as you believe, why didn’t any prophet-historians (Mormon, himself, mainly) mention cold weather or snow? Those would be significant factors in any battle description. Half naked Lamanite warriors would be far more comfortable in warmer climates. I’m sure you’ve gotten that question many times before, and I apologize if you’re tired of answering it. I tried to find your answer elsewhere before asking but haven’t been able to locate it.

An additional comment: there's geographical evidence for a earthquake in the proper time. A study titled "Evidence for New Madrid earthquakes in AD 300 and 2350 BC" estimates an earthquake in AD 300 +/- 200 years. Now initially that sounds bad, but if you dig into their statistics they have a very low confidence for that number. Only one standard deviation. I'm not going to give a stats lecture in a youtube comment, but just trust me that that means a 68% chance of the real number being in that range. Drawing up a standard normal curve you can calculate a 13.5% chance of the earthquake occurring between 0 and 100 AD. So there's a not insignificant chance of the dates lining up right.

Four days into the 34th year since the birth of Jesus, I think that puts us in 33 AD. 3 Ne 8:2 says "the thirty and third year had passed away." That puts is into AD33, not 34 AD as you said at about the 2m20s mark. Right? Think it through. After the first year passed away since Jesus' birth, that puts us into AD 1 (see?). And so on, through the years. There is other evidence that Jesus died and was resurrected in April 33 AD. Otherwise, very informative video!

We celebrate Christmas as His birthday like most other Christians do, but we believe His actual birthday was just a few months later on April 6th. So when we celebrate Easter, we're not only celebrating His great sacrifice and resurrection, but we're also celebrating His birth too :) So this being the year 2023, we believe He was born 2023 years ago. Although, I know some people believe the calendar has gotten a little bit off over the centuries and that He may have been born 2027 years ago. Anyway, we believe it's somewhere close to those numbers.

I believe Israel’s earthquake was bad and I could have created darkness but instead of lasting three days it lasted one. But to know the earth shook on both continents. Makes one wonder if quakes too place on other continents.

So what happened to Joseph Smith's vast uniquely Jewish civilization that, as the BOM states, stretched from coast to coast, it's inhabitants being 'numerous almost as the sands of the sea'? Why nil Jewish DNA in North/South America, native Americans came from Asia. How does Joseph Smith's Jewish civilization disappeare without archeological trace,? In stark contrast to modern day Israel.

(( I think you need to change your youtube photo ........it isn't respectful like a lot of your videos are.....You've put too much work into your videos to have People think you're some kind of a nut case looking at your picture.......first impressions are very important... .......looking at your photo, it gives People the wrong impression of what you have and People just might decide to move on before they even look at one of your videos.... ......because they might think you're not serious or that you are making fun of the Church ))

Hooray For years I have followed and ploted a path of travel of the Book of Mormon. Someone else can prove it. DNA has also proved a small Jewish tribe in those of Central America ancestry.
