My First Ever Trip To The Dunes (Not What I Expected)
My first trip to the sand dunes at Silver Lake Michigan was a learning experience for sure. Even with the technical difficulties, it was still a great trip and it was awesome to meet several subscribers and see some incredible sand machines!

Haters are going to love this video I'm sure 😂 I know you guys were looking forward to seeing the R run at the dunes and I feel like a let down. Parts are on the way and I will be torture testing the R soon after to make sure it doesn't overheat again. Next trip is to Little Sahara! Thanks for watching my video and I love all you guys... even the haters.

I ran my Yamaha blaster completely out of gas on a full pull one time, I forgot to open the gas up, the engine was a little locked up to, I just pushed a little harder until it gave and the quad still ran super strong after that.

Michael Sabo, Do you think it could be from the radiator guard you put on. It may have blocked to much air flow. The jetting didnt seem that far off, even when the temps where at 250, the engine didnt seem to hang due to being lean. My money is on to restrictive air flow to the radiator.

(Had the yellow plastic/blue frame laeger there) Hopefully you aren't reading much into these comments because the false info is overflowing.. considering 80% of the machines there were on a keihn carb I can assure you switching to a lectron wouldn't necessarily save it. A poorly setup lectron is just as bad.. I watched it first hand.

I always wanted to go here but it’s on the other side of the country for me! It’s at least a 1000 miles to the nearest sand of any kind! I’m in the middle of Appalachia coal country we have hills and mud galore but no sand! But I have rode in about every other environment but never sand dunes! Hence the reason I always wanted to go here!

Oh my god dude I can already hear the keyboard Warriors freaking out about "how you broke in the bike" lol they're all going to be freaking out saying "it's how you broken the bike Mike." We both know that's total BS. But you know you're going to hear it LOL... it's hilarious. Not going to lie though, when you started the video and I heard your bike running, I said to myself "wow, it does sound like it's running at a lean". I genuinely thought it had a very slight lean bog, like, almost as if you were trying to give it the beans, and it was being very hesitant. I'm really sorry man that is extremely soul crushing after all that time and work. I'm sure you'll get it sorted out. And if it's any consolation I just bought a jet kit for my bike as well. I have replaced my stock carb with a keihin pwk air Striker quad vent 38 mm. The jetting I am currently using right now for my CR250 is a 175 Main, I am going to go over to the JD jet kit blue needle in the third clip position, and I am also the running a 55 pilot jet right now, but that is way too rich and I keep fouling out plugs with this carburetor. JD recommends me to go to a 45 but I'm not so sure what I want to do yet, because 45 seems really lean for a CR250 which recommend you to use a 55 stock but I'm sure JD knows more than I do. Right? But I'm going to give it a shot. Hopefully, the same thing doesn't happen to me, but I guess I'll find out Saturday. At any rate, if you're going to go down a size on the pilot circuit, then you need to turn in the air screw to about 1 and 1/2 turns out from completely seated to compensate. when you turn in the air screw in you get more fuel, when you turn it out, you get more air. So if you're going to go down in a pilot jet size (or 2) you have to compensate by turning in the air screw, otherwise it will be extremely lean on idle and on bottom. But I'm sure I don't have to tell you this. And obviously if your float Bowl was not retaining enough fuel that would definitely screw you over hard. Anyway, I just thought I'd shoot you what I'm using for my jetting. maybe you can recommend a pilot jet for me that you think would be better. I'm really sorry Mike, really. God bless man, that sucks.

You'll figure out that 250R. I'll look forward to the Diagnosis. Check your air pressure on your paddle tires. I run 4 psi in the dunes. I've run a bunch of paddle tires. I prefer a 22" Skat Trak 8-paddle Extreme on 8" dia. wheels on my 4 mil Banshee. If you end up going to the dunes enough to justify the cost. Sand Stars are OK. They are good if you like to slide, side hill, cookies, ect. Skats with a lot of side-wall hook way better for the drags. After seeing the fun your having, I'll bet you'll make it a regular thing!

That's a bummer bro about the 250r but it's part of the game, only people that would talk shit are people that don't get out and ride, anyone that rides knows this stuff happens. Seems like the sand is so hard on the equipment, the drag, and then the drag makes them over heat, it's gotta be hard on bearings but would be a blast to see all those machines in one place, hang in there you will redeem yourself.🇺🇸👍

Honestly dude get a TRX 450 04 or 05 and put exhaust, airbox, jet kit. And you’ll never have any problems again. Plus it way more powerful than a trx250 or 309 or whatever

Nice to see a NACS racing bike still floating around proudly. NACS used to be big on the racing scene, cover shots and featured rides in dirt wheels magazine, and their shop was in my home town. Used to ride my bicycle about 5 1/2 miles to the shop and ride home with blaster parts and maintenance items hanging off my handles bars or stuffed into a backpack. Been a while since I’ve seen that graphics kit

lectron carb kills another bike. everyone who doesnt know anything other than that they own a bike will swear by lectron carb and yet they cant afford one.. havent had one ever.. but will still swear by one will absolutly no experaince with one.. a stock carb with the proper size opening MM size will be more relaible that a lectron... hands down.. the fact that lectron carbs claim yoou dont need to set teh jetting is jsut a lie its a diferent system... it doenst have jets it has metering rods that u have to set... just like jets so they lie to you right off the bat!

Why would you call people haters? You broke it in at a sand dunes with no testing . This is what happens, nothing wrong with it anyone that builds bikes will go through this. Part of the game you will figure it out with testing. All good

Always better to run rich that's my 2 cents..... Not the end of the world tho new piston and jug and shell be back running sweet build regardless. You should see if lectron makes a carb for the 250 then you wont have to worry about jetting. I have one for my 03 cr250 and it runs like a dream best purchase ive made for the bike hands down!

You can never, i repeat never take a fresh engine build into the dunes as the sand will stress the motor till it melts down, beleave me been there done that. You must fully break in the motor before going to the dunes. Sorry to hear that your sweet build had problems. Been a dune-a-tic at Silver Lake since 1970 and run ATV's here since 1984

Sand riding is fun , however the bikes take a beating. 1st time i rode on a beach i just couldn't wait to get back to the woods. Nothing like racing through the trails and woods.

Damn dude! Sorry you had issues on your first day, but a banshee in the sand is where they belong, nothing like em in the dunes IMO, btw it’s just bad paddles that get you stuck, I always ran a 6 paddle with some sidewall so they bit a little more 🤷🏻‍♂️
