By the.way, I have had some reports on DentalTown that people have had a better (i.e. brighter) experience with the unilux battery than I had; perhaps the battery I was provided with wasn't representative of their standard performance. So please take that part of the review with a grain of salt! Thank you, that is all.

Great video. What about power on/off function in the prolux version. I'm thinking about the hygienic perspective using your fingers to turn it on/off during treatment. Dont you think ie touch control would add further benefits to the product?
@MichaeltheDentist5 жыл бұрын
Ideally you're turning it on prior to putting your gloves on, and turning it off after you've taken everything off and sanitized. If you do need to turn it off during a procedure, the advantage with the new prolux battery is that it is a very smooth battery with less nooks and crannies for bugs to hide in; the surface of the power button is actually continuous with the surface of the rest of the battery, so it should be easier to disinfect than the old V3, for example. Perhaps this is one of the reasons why they changed their design up.

@@MichaeltheDentist Actually the wire has a control switch which is attached to your loupes , you will not need to de-glove to operate
@enthousiasmich4 жыл бұрын
Hi Michael, Yes you didn't get the full experience from the Unilux battery. It has 4 intensities, which are changed via the built in control cable connecting wire to light, goes to 50,000 Lux. You would be impressed. The wire is short and attaches to your collar or lapel with a magnet. Making this feel like a cordless battery

Have you tried the Bilumix? Is BFW similar? I'm glad to see that you can use this surgical light between the loupes, strongly considering it, but as you mentioned might be a problem if it cures your composite too fast lol
@MichaeltheDentist2 жыл бұрын
Haven’t tried Bilumix. With the light on the lowest setting I find I have a decent amount of working time with composite. Working on Anterior resins where cosmetic requirements necessitate more working time, I’d be more concerned. I typically use my Global A6 scope for everything except surgery, and then this light with loupes for extractions and other surgical procedures.

Do you have any thoughts on the Eye Mag Pro S from Zeiss??? It sounded like one that may be very useful for both dentistry and OMFS. Im a gen dentist that does a lot of surgery in office (implant and full arch ext cases)
@MichaeltheDentist2 жыл бұрын
I don't think the eye mag pro s has an integrated light. The design makes it seem very difficult to include a headlight, too. Even with the best surgical overhead lighting, you still won't get that nice even co-axial lighting afforded by a really good headlamp.
@loso29492 жыл бұрын
@@MichaeltheDentist I think they have a new light system that gets pretty close to the arrangement you have with your headset. maybe not quite as close, and not as bright as an enova light (although that's not necessary for restorative dentistry). but better than many other set ups i've seen. i'd prob have to send you a picture to better explain. that whole set up is coming out to around 4K USD before tax right now unfortunately.

@@mhb3003 since i last posted i got the Eye Mag Pro S and the newest light they have. I enjoy both. And the light and loupes are coaxial I'd imagine enova is much more effective in terms of light quality, maybe much more so than many would need. The newer eye mag light has a 3 hour life and two batteries. If your team can't switch out your battery for you it may not be a great option (would suck to scrub out to change battery every 3 hours) I just wish enova could combine their tech with zeiss

I have the older version of the Lumadent. I actually prefer to new batter design because the old battery toggle switch would accidentally switch on in my backpack and drain the battery overnight. Also, the turn knob for brightness comes loose.

@MichaeltheDentist5 жыл бұрын
@@tubbs1380 Airlux is good, Prolux is better, and BFW daymark is best for endo. BFW is very expensive, but amazing because of the co-axial positioning of the light (more light gets into the pulp chamber to allow you to see). If BFW isn't in your budget, I would go Prolux HL360 headlight from lumadent over the airlux, because it is a bit brighter.
