Elvis & Ann had a relationship and lifelong friendship. Ann was known for her singing and dancing and acting. Watch her in Bye Bye Birdie, State Fair, Tommy, Carnal Knowledge. She also played Vegas. Still active.

Ann Margret was considered the female Elvis. Her sensuality was undeniable. She has been nominated for 2 Oscars, six Emmys ( won one) , and 10 Golden Globes ( won 5). According to several members of Elvis’ entourage, she and Elvis were romantically involved for about a year. In the 1970s both Elvis and Ann Margret did residencies in Vegas. Elvis sent her flowers every opening night until the last year of his life. Ann Margret has class. She refuses to discuss Elvis’ private life when interviewed unlike others in his life.

You MUST watch "Viva Las Vegas". One of Elvis' best movies, IMO, but maybe that's because of Ann-Margret. Their chemistry sizzled. This movie singing, dancing (yes, Ann-Margret was a dancer, too) and race car driving through the streets of Vegas. What's not to love? P.S. You can still see Ann-Margret in later movies like Grumpy Old Men, and Grumpier Old Men 😊

Elvis's movies are a wildly variable lot. This one-Viva Las Vegas-was his most successful, and a highly enjoyable one though not his best. A big part of the success of this particular film was his pairing with Ann-Margret who was a big star in her own right and the chemistry the pair shared. They were involved off screen for a time but ultimately she married actor Roger Smith, who became her manager, and they were wed for 50 years until his death. She is still with us and still acts occasionally. At this point in her career she was in full sex kitten mode and her films were for the most part fluffy comedies which continued throughout most of the 60's but in 1971 she appeared in the Mike Nichols film "Carnal Knowledge" in a serious role to much acclaim and an Oscar nomination after which she had a long career as a respected dramatic actress netting another Oscar nod for her role in The Who's rock opera "Tommy". As far as Elvis movies worth seeing besides this one his earliest films are the ones to seek out. The best film he ever made is 1958's "King Creole" which is a serious drama, though he does sing (he sings in all his films), with a cast full of excellent performers and a strong director at the helm. After that "Love Me Tender" (1956), "Wild in the Country" (1961), "Jailhouse Rock" (1957) and "G.I. Blues" (1960) are decent pictures while the rest of his output range from the average ("Kid Galahad" (1962) & "Roustabout" (1964) to the absolutely awful ("Harum Scarum" (1965) & "Clambake" (1967).

I have quite a few Elvis movies. Some are a bit corny but the music is always great. "The Lady Loves Me" is from the movie "Viva Las Vegas" (1964). Elvis had great chemistry with Ann-Margret. Some of my favorite Elvis movies are "Blue Hawaii", "GI Blues", "Fun In Acapulco". They are all full of great songs.

Elvis and this costar were madly in love throughout their lifetime. They were a couple for over a year but Elvis had his commitment to marry Priscilla. She was at his funeral and pledges to the day that he was the love of her life. Sad they couldn’t marry it was discussed but due to Elvis commitment and she did not want to give up her career they sadly parted ways but remained friends for life

They were a well-matched power couple :) Elvis`s movies (33) were successful at the box office, but they have been considered of low quality. Not all of them were bad. The critics always loved to tear Elvis apart, and he got criticized far more than he deserved. In "King Creole" for example, he had the opportunity to show his acting skills and talent because of the well-written script. Flaming Star, Viva Las Vegas (with Ann Margaret), and some more were good movies. Had Elvis could have easily become an acknowledged actor but his manager made decisions that hurt Elvis`s image and made him very unhappy.

To say that Elvis’ films weren’t popular is wrong. To say that they were not critical favorites is accurate. By 2024 dollars, Elvis’ films grossed $2.5B-that’s billion with a B! And that’s when the avg cost of a movie ticket was $1.04 versus $12/ticket today. So you had to sell a lot more tickets 🎟️ to reach that total back then. However, as Elvis’ good friend Tom Jones admitted that he spent too long in Las Vegas and his recording career suffered, Elvis admitted that he made too many of “those dumb movies,” that hurt his recording career. BUT, Elvis’ movie career and Tom’s Las Vegas career made both of them very wealthy!

If you want to see Elvis the actor try watching "Love Me Tender, "Loving You""Jailhouse Rock" "King Creole" "Wild in the Country" "Flaming Star" or "Kid Galahad" those were the films where he showed he could act. The rest of the films were mainly musicals some better than others. NO Elvis film ever lost money. Elvis made 31 feature films starting with Love Me Tender in 1956 this film is in the top 10 grossing films Love Me Tender for 56 in 1957 he had 2 film in the top 15 grossing films. In 1958 Elvis only made 1 film which was in the top 10 grossing films for 58. Then Elvis was drafted and spent 2 years in the Army. In 1960 he had 2 films in the top 15 grossing films. In 61 he had one film in the top 15 grossing films. In 62 he had 2 films in the top 20. In 63 he had 2 in the top 25 In 64 he had 3 films in the top 25.... In 65 he had 2 in the top 25... In 66 he had 1 in the top 25 In 67 he had 2 in the top 35 films..... In 68 he had 1 in the top 30 films .... In 69 he had no pictures in the top 30 In 1970 the documentary "Elvis Thats the Way it Is was released In 1972 the documentary "Elvis On Tour" was released and this was Elvis' final film. The cute talented Red headed lady is Ann Margret who is still acting today. She was called the :Female Elvis" by the press because of her energy and Charisma. She and Elvis were pretty serious couple for about a year. They all made money. From 1960-69 Elvis is ranked #21 out of the top 100 ranking movie stars for ticket sales.

Ann Margaret was in love with him and he with her. They had a year long affair and he still was engaged to Priscilla. If Elvis was to marry any one it should have been the beautiful Ann. To this day, even though he broke it off and married Priscilla, Ann will never say a mean word. She says "He was my soul mate". She married actor Roger smith after Elvis married priscilla, but he sent her flowers at every show opening shaped like a guitar. When he died at Graceland and she was opening in Vegas her flowers didn't come and she knew he had passed. She went to his funeral with her husband, and spent a long time sitting by his casket. Ah, what could have been. By the Way you do great reactions. He did 31 movies with great songs, one to check out is "Mean Woman Blues" from the movie "Loving You'. that's fabulous. Thanks and Be Blessed

Elvis was offered the role in A Star Is Born opposite Barbara Streisand. After consideration, he turned it down. Barbara wanted him to do the part real bad, upped his fee. There are conflicting statements as to why he declined. Joe Esposito said it was because of the rumours that she was so hard to work with, a diva. Others say Parker turned it down. It was a huge hit for Kris Kristofferson.

It was the manager Tom Parker who routinely turned down Elvis options because Parker was afraid of losing control of Elvis. Parker turned down an offer to meet the Queen of England because he was an illegal and couldn't go out of the country. Elvis wasn't even aware of some of the offers. Parker was evil.

I'm sorry...I usually don't say things like this, but...how in the WORLD do you not know anything about Ann-Margret???!!! Here's a pretty good article about her (from a non-partisan view): en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ann-Margret As for Elvis movies, basically, none of us even CARED what they were about, or how they CAME about, or who did what, when. We just wanted to see and hear Elvis, and since most of us didn't LIVE in the areas where he usually performed, it was either records, radios, movies, or TV. I lived in Valdez, Alaska, where TV didn't "happen" until 1975, though I saw Elvis on TV when we visited (meaning went shopping for things we couldn't get in Valdez) Anchorage or Fairbanks. I had every single one of his records...until my younger-younger brother left Alaska to join me in California where I had moved a few years before, and he sold everything I had stored in his basement, because I didn't have enough room in my vehicle to carry all four of my kids AND my treasured possessions like those albums, when I had left Alaska! It took me a long time to get over losing all of those LP albums, not to mention the 45s & 78s that I had treasured! Oh, my goodness! Music has been my "thing," all my life, and Elvis was definitely KING--no matter how I could watch and listen to him. Anyway...thanks for reacting, I'm glad you liked it. I did, too...way back then, and still today. 😀

His first four or five movies were good, but then they started to get formulaic, the same plot in every movie. That said, there were some that were pretty fun to watch. He was lucky to have one or two good songs in them. Usually, the songs were pretty lame. Loving You, Jailhouse Rock and King Creole were pretty good. This movie (Viva Las Vegas) and Blue Hawaii were the best of the later ones. They were pretty popular, but he made two or three a year. He pretty much tapped out the audience.

I listened to an interview he gave after his filming career was over. He said he got physically ill over the scripts and music because he thought they were so bad, but stated that he had a multi-year contract and had absolutely no control over anything but was stuck. He was the highest paid actor and the films were making money, so nothing would change. As a kid, I enjoyed them but as time went on, the scripts and production got really bad. As Elvis said, same script, different names. And he made waaaay too many of them. What a mistake to give up all control. I’m hoping for a reaction to 2 songs…It’s Now or Never official release (not philharmonic) because the vocals are insane, and Fever which is 🔥. Both released in 1960.

Elvis should have married Ann Margret instead of narcissist gold digger Priscilla (still digging). Equal partner without Memphis Mafia. Ann Margret has always respected Elvis memory, while Priscilla... well you know..
