"Aloha From Hawaii" satellite concert in 1973...it's well documented that over 1 billion people watched it and in the 1970's, there were under 3 billion people in the world so it was an even bigger accomplishment. Elvis was the first Superstar and had reached the pinnacle of fame prior to the concert. No one had ever seen anyone like him before; and no one has since. Elvis movie suggestions: King Creole; Jailhouse Rock; Flaming Star for starters.

I also think you could ade Viva Las Vegas and Ann Margaret sizzle, and the connection jumps off the screen at you. I can’t believe I forgot I told you to watch this is Elvis, which is amazing because it has real clips of Elvis in it throughout …then watch the new Elvis movie that came out last year starring Austin Butler, simply titled Elvis, I feel that the actor captured the soul of Elvis Presley and I was highly impressed with his performance so those would be the three I would check out, and I would just watch the whole thing because I think if you watch it in clips, then you’ll lose the momentum of the film, so that’s my suggestion ❤️💕

It's true that a billion people watched. The program was sent out at different time zones and so they may not have been watching exactly at the same time but overall, yes a billion watched. I was one of them. I remember the event. I was 9 years old, and in fact i'm sure more than a billion watched because i remember heading to my aunts home and having family members gathering around the t.v. to watch the concert. Beautiful memories and times for sure.

Elvis had glaucoma, he wore sunglasses to protect his eyes. When he came on stage there were so many camera flashbulbs going off that it irritated his sight. Ine night he was blinded by them that he fell coming off stage which affected by his ability to move as much on stage (according to Larry Geller, his friend & hairdresser). That redheaded guy is Red West who happened to walk in the bathroom at school where some guys were about to hold Elvis down and cut his long hair off, he stayed close with him and employed him and several other bodyguards (the memphis mafia) to guard him. He was one of the snakes who turned on him at the end. Elvis gave away a ton of jewellery, cars, bought houses and wheelchairs for people and for strangers. Elvis made those guys a part of history, unfortunately they weren't professionals and no image or media consultants existed at the start of his career to guide him. At the time Aloha was watched on 42% of the planet's TV sets. Remember there were not 7bn on earth in 1974. Check the stats off the documentary. You're showing how young you are by bot believing that. Elvis couldn't step foot outside without crowds gathering and riots breaking out to grab a piece of him. Half the planet wanted to sleep with this man, the other half wanted to be him. He was the world's first walking orgasm. On all fronts he was 🔥🔥🔥 His life was fkd for the whole 23 year career he had. It was tragic in many ways. ❤

Meaning that this satellite technology was new and it was played in different countries at different times and it got very good rating everywhere!. It didn't air in the USA until April. The show was done January 14. It was simply the way technology was at the time. You have to remember there were usually only 3 main tv channels to watch and these type of events were huge because there was no bigger star in the world than Elvis.

The viewership for Elvis Presley's "Aloha from Hawaii" concert was estimated based on television ratings and audience measurement data at the time. The concert was broadcast via satellite and aired in multiple countries around the world, allowing for a large global audience reach. The estimation of 1.5 billion viewers was a cumulative total that took into account viewership numbers from various regions where the concert was broadcast. This is done through the Neilson rating based on satellite hit and strength of signal compared To locations, it is watched. This is how shows today are monitored in viewership totals. Thus js a very accurate process.

This movie, This Is Elvis, is probably the best documentary about his life. It was made just a few years after he died. As far as concert documentaries "That's The Way It Is " from 1970 and Elvis On Tour from 1972. Watch those 3 in order. Finally, watch Elvis, the 1979 TV movie starring Kurt Russell. This covers his life from a child up until the 1969 Vegas shows. The suit Kurt was wearing was an actual Elvis suit that Kurt was given permission to wear by Elvis' father Vernon, who passed away himself shortly after that.
