Hard rock goodness. Dany rarely ventures off into meaningless solos, preferring to put the song first. She creates more of an emotional feel (along the lines of David Gilmour) with her playing rather than just playing scales as fast as she can. Probably the best example of their singing is the acoustic version of "Sinister Smiles" in which Dany and Pau trade off on vocals and Ale provides a strong falsetto backing vocal. The fact they are only 21, 19, and 16 and have been writing their own songs and playing their own instruments for nearly a decade speaks volumes for their talent and dedication. If you like the classic hard rock sound, please listen to more. Thanks!

Nice job reading about The Warning to learn about the 3 very talented sisters. Rock is a fading genre, with very few young bands continuing the rock tradition. I believe The Warning will be very important to inspire other young musicians to play rock.

They are actually very complete musicians and they skillful, as you get to know more of them you will notice it. They are also great songwriters. All the original songs have been written by them and despite being so young, they already have quite a few great songs. If you decide to continue listening to them, I assure you that you are going to enjoy a "great trip". His album "Queen of the Murder Scene" is an "addictive" Artwork, in fact, much of his music is. On the other hand, Beautiful Furniture that you have, although personally, I like the tones in dark and bright wood better. And I think your furniture would look great like this!

Thanks for your great analysis! They have actually played many large festivals in Latin America, as well as opened for Def Leppard Twice and The Killers Twice! And they received high praise from Joe Elliott of Def Leppard. Also, they attended the Summer Program at Berkley School of Music, where one of their instructors was David Ellefson, Bass player for Megadeth, who still follows their growth. They finished recording their third studio album (first for Lava Records) before The oldest, Daniela (guitar) turned 21. This song, Dull Knives is in the middle of their their second album, Queen of the Murder Scene, so needs the rest of the album to put it into context. All three sisters have beautiful voices, but Daniela (guitar) sings lead on most songs, and Paulina (drums) sings lead on 6 or 7 songs. All three are classically trained on piano from a young age. If you want to hear more of their raw vocal talent, I will suggest a couple songs they do as a band, and solo acoustic songs from both Daniela and Paulina! As a band: Paulina (drums) playing piano and singing lead, "Blackholes": kzbin.info/www/bejne/on6bfJiHlNmBh8U Daniela Singing Lead and playing acoustic guitar, "Crimson Queen": kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZmWaZKFpaNtglas Solo: Daniela singing an acoustic guitar cover of "Break In", by Lzzy Hale of Halestorm: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kGWXaap8a6pro80 Paulina singing a piano cover of "Creep" by Radiohead: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d2e8ZYumd92di5I Enjoy! The drummer, Paulina (Pau), sang on the harmonies but the other parts you saw she sometimes just mouths the words while playing. She wasn't singing at that point but she was certainly during the harmonies. You should check out their range with some other songs with the piano. You can experience Dany's range in other songs. In some songs Pau (Drummer) sings lead and Ale (Bass) does some falsetto harmonies in a song called "Sinister Smiles". Ale also has sung lead in some live performances when Dany wasn't feeling well. They all play piano and are classically trained. Great reaction and I'm looking forward to more!

The Warning are three sisters that started making music very young Alejandra (Ale = Aleh, not the beer. Bass, backing vocals and keyboard, the youngest- 16 as of March 2021) and Paulina (Pau = Pow. Drums, backing/lead vocals and keyboard, middle sister 19 as of March 2021) at 3 and Daniela (Dany = Dany. Guitar, lead vocals and keyboard, the oldest 21 as of March 2021) 5, all learning classical piano. They got the video game Rock Band and fell in love with the feeling of performing on other instruments. Their father asked if they wanted to learn another instrument and the girls jumped at the opportunity and gravitated to the instruments they played in Rock Band. They had been uploading their musical journey to KZbin for their family to see and had wanted to try and play music together as a band around 2012 and rehearsed for a small performance for their school xmas show. Well They loved the experience so much they began learning and playing cover songs of hard rock and metal bands. One song in particular shot them into the limelight. That song, "Enter Sandman" by Metallica had gone viral (currently over 22 000 000 views) and had gotten the attention of Metallica, Dee Snyder and The Ellen Show!.The Warning wrote, composed and recorded an EP called Escape the Mind in 2015 to experience that whole process and to determine what type of music they liked to make... Thankfully they chose Rock/Hard Rock! Ellen Degeneres invited the band to play live on her show, to which they accepted and played Crazy Train by Ozzy Osbourne, after the performance Ellen and Target awarded the sisters $10 000 each to attend Berklee School of Music in Boston. They performed a number of small and large shows afterward and began writing and composing new material for their first full length album XXI Century Blood in 2017. They supported this album with some very high profile gigs like opening for Def Leppard and separately The Killers for two shows each in Mexico. Also following other large rock bands in a couple music festivals. In 2018 they wrote and recorded Queen of the Murder Scene and released it in November of that year and have toured Mexico and South American venues. In June of 2019 they released a single, Narcisista. A scathing rebuke of their Mexican critics that had accused the band of being "Malinchista" a Mexican term used to call out cultural traitors, because the group has only recorded English language songs. Well this song is in Spanish and it is full of attitude and angst fired toward those critics. This was recorded live in June 2019 st Foro Didi in Monterrey Mx (their hometown) - kzbin.info/www/bejne/hWiscnieg5mFg68 The Warning is totally fan funded through Patreon, KZbin and crowdfunding platforms like GoFundMe and Kickstarter. They have turned down offers from record labels and talent shows like American Idol because they did not want to lose their control of their music, image and wanted to focus on learning. In fact in one interview with a record label they were asked if they would rather play to 12 people or 12000. Paulina piped up and said The Warning would rather play in front of 12 if it meant they would keep their integrity and could play the music they want to play, how they want to play... That is the most Rock n Roll quote ever! So after a very successful Kickstarter campaign to raise fund for a North American tour and to record a new album achieving their goal within 24 hours and surpassing that goal by 600%. Unfortunately the Covid19 Pandemic forced the band to cancel their tour plans and postpone making their album. Their last live show before the global lock down was March 14 2020 at the Vive Latino 2020 Festival in Mexico City. This did not stop The Warning from performing though, they played a full concert set from their basement studio/rehearsal space for free for their fans on KZbin and Facebook achieving well over 50000 simultaneous viewers on March 25 2020. They have since performed from The Warning a couple more times including for the city of Brownsville Tx for the Fourth of July virtual celebration and later in the summer for a charity event with rock legends like Slash and Ringo Star. On August 9th 2020 The Warning announced to their Patreon community that after seven long months of negotiations they had signed a five record deal with Lava Records a label under the Republic Records and Universal Music family. During the announcement they reiterated their dedication to their own creative integrity and dedicated fans on Patreon and were able to retain both in their record contract with Lava. In Sept of 2020 The Warning traveled to New Jersey USA to begin rehearsal and eventually recording of their third album. After 3 months of recording and a month and a half of mastering, mixing and editing the third album was completed at the beginning of February 2021. All that remains as of 22 02 21 is the album design and artwork amd logistics of the release which will hopefully happen by April 2021. So now you've been WARNED! I hope you will check out more of their music and see how they have grown. Here is a recommended viewing list to see their evolution: Enter Sandman - Metallica (cover song) - kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z5PShox4brF5gLs 2014 Exterminated (original song from XXI Century Blood) - kzbin.info/www/bejne/eJeUl5KtqNKhoa8 2015 The Pretender - Foo Fighters (cover song) - kzbin.info/www/bejne/r5unnHSklrmJjLs 2016 Kickstart My Heart - Motley Crue (cover song) - kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJKwYqB4lseUacU 2017 rehearsal for Mother of all Rock Festival presentation Black Holes (original song from XXI Century Blood) - kzbin.info/www/bejne/on6bfJiHlNmBh8U 2018 Queen of the Murder Scene (original from Queen of the Murder Scene) - kzbin.info/www/bejne/hXmxYWCXp92mrpY late 2018 Narcisista (original song, single) - kzbin.info/www/bejne/hWiscnieg5mFg68 June 2019 Dull Knives from The Warning Cave for De(Tour) - kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y4e4dK2ned6Cmqs Aug 2020

You were right about the "festival" being a little misleading. I wouldn't say they opened for Alice Cooper and Aerosmith. They did play at the same festival. However, they did open for Def Leppard at 2 shows, not as part of a festival. There is an interview floating around, or a piece of a radio show where Joe Elliott talked about them with very high praise. They also opened for The Killers for 2 shows, outside of a festival setting. Although they are quite capable musicians and singers, IMHO, their virtuosity is in capturing the feeling of a song and imposing that on the audience. Dull Knives falls into Chapter 3 of the Queen of the Murder Scene concept album. The story is a roller coaster of emotions and musical styles. Their music sometimes seems "simple", but it always seems to be just what the song needs. Dany may not play 1000 notes per second on the guitar like Yngwie Malmsteen, but she plays with emotion like David Gilmoure, Brian May, Eric Clapton. In this song, Pau (the drummer) is not actually singing throughout most of the song, but if you listen carefully, there is a haunting whisper. It's just for additional effect in the context of the story. This song doesn't necessarily show off Dany's full capabilities, but if you listen to the album, you will get a better sense of her range and abilities. I actually enjoyed your take on this.

Pau mouths a lot of songs to stay on beat and to keep the lyrics in mind just in case she has to sing the song or take over for Dany. She has done so a few times when Dany's mike stoped working in the middle of a song. One time Dany dropped her pick and had to step away from the mike to get a new one and she just stepped in with the vocals.

I like your review, Daniela is just passion, very energetic, but offstage are very cute and funny girls, at this moment they are 21, 19 and 16 (the bass player is the youngest but the tallest), I suggest crimson queen from the second album, at the whiskey agogo in 2020, or maybe "the end" in lunario CDMX. They did open to Def leppard and the Killers and were the openning act in the mother of all festival, hell and heaven festival, and two very imortant music festivals in Mexico City and Colombia. About the guitar solos, she likes long guitar riffs instead the solos but there are a few, for example in the song narcisista, queen of the murder sceane, the end among others.

Hello there! Thank you very much for checking out The Warning and your honest opinion. In the end this means more than just praising everything all the time as some reactors do. You jumped right into the second half if that concept album Queen of the Murder Scene with that song, so this song for itsself may not make all too much sense without knowing the rest. Still it's a cool 3min hard rock banger! If you like you can start from the top of that album with Dust to Dust. There you'll also have no doubt about the drummer singing or not because she sings lead vocals in that one. While drumming! You can also check out their earlier work from the album XXI century blood. The title song comes with a cool and quite meaningful music video. Survive is another awesome and often reacted to song. They also have some covers. First of all Enter Sandman of course where they were REALLY young, but The Pretender by Foo Fighters or Kickstart my heart by Mötley Crüe are very cool as well. And if you wanna hear them sing in spanish (and also find out why they did that), check out Narcisista. As you see, there's a lot to discover and it's gonna be even more very "soon". ("Soon" has become a running gag, as that is the only answer the fans get whenever we ask when the third album is finally gonna be released... 😅) Have fun! Oh and also ... if you don't mind my asking: How where why when for what did you win an Emmy?? That's pretty cool!

I think that it is very unusual that she turns her mic off because she could never know when she needs to fill in for Dany. Here is an example of Dany singing in Exterminated when she drops her pic and since she knows that she really will need it soon she simply walks away from her mic leaving Pau to sing on her own. kzbin.info/www/bejne/m4iopGehnc9-pas I like how surprised Ale looks when she looks at Paulina and how Pau replies with a big smile. 😍

Just so people will know, Pau will quite often mouth the lyrics, she is not always actually singing. Like TheUnderdog stated, Pau doesn't turn her mic off and on, she may have to fill in at any given moment. Honestly this probably wasn’t the best recommendation of theirs for a vocal coach as you’re right, there’s not really an awful lot going on with the vocals. I’d probably go as far as saying they haven’t actually recorded anything yet that really shows what they can do vocally, but that’s only because of how much they’ve improved in that respect over the last couple of years. I’m confident that will change with the release of their third album this year. Dany and Pau, the guitarist and drummer, have actually done a few solo covers recently that do a much better job of showcasing their talents, and I think you’d find them much more interesting from a vocal analysis perspective 🙂 Pau covering Creep by Radiohead kzbin.info/www/bejne/d2e8ZYumd92di5I Dany covering Break In by Halestorm kzbin.info/www/bejne/kGWXaap8a6pro80

As others have said, this is a straight-up rocker and probably not the best song for you to assess vocal talent. Something like The One or Crimson Queen or The End would be better. The drummer mouths the words even when she is not singing, so you may have seen that. As for the "crazy eyes", Dany displays the character's emotions/state of mind, and by the time of this song, she is truly psychotic, which is the name of one of the songs.

Honest and informative review / analysis and most importantly you seem to dig their sound, attitude and musicianship. :-) Dull Knives wasn't a song meant to impress anyone with their virtuosity as it is more of a bridge -- quite the powerful one meant to signal the sudden descent into madness -- from one song to another (a transition from Sinister Smiles to Queen of the Murder Scene) that propels the "rock opera" story along, giving more resonance to the deteriorating mental state of the protagonist who is spiraling deeper and deeper into her own depraved psychosis. Or something like that. ;-) Anyway, I would love to see you review Dust to Dust, the opening prologue song in which the drummer, Paulina, sings with great control and power whilst on the kit, and then The Sacrifice or The One which will definitely showcase more of Dany's singing range, which is actually quite good, although she herself will admit she's had to work diligently to avoid getting pitchy at the higher register.

Acoustics in their home base the cave are tricky. The drums, especially with Pau behind them the sound will bleed into every mic in the room. Ale’s bass speaker will also bleed through everything including making the drums vibrate. The mixing room has a decent amount of audio gear and the instruments are decently miked, this live all-in situation for a rock band at high volume will always be a moving target on the mixer, with some insurmountable bleed. So all that said sonically it is some of the best mix we’ve heard from the cave. Not perfect but up there.

If you were to go back to older concerts you can trace a lot of improvement in Dany’s voice over the past several years. I think this vocal is better than the studio version from 2018. But there’s been a particular change since this performance but without live shows she has only shown her voice on covers (particularly Break In and other solo covers linked elsewhere in the comments). She recently talked about something clicking in her understanding of her voice that made a notable difference. I admire her work ethic, with no disrespect intended she’s not a “natural” at either singing or guitar but has really dedicated herself to both with great results. All three of them talk about how they are still learning. We will really see how much they’ve improved with the new album, coming out SOON.

I would suggest that if you want to hear their singing range to please continue to react to their songs. Dany (guitar) definitely has range and Pau (drums) is fierce. Ale (bass) can cover all ranges but does not sing lead very often. All can sing lead- Dany 75% of the time. Pau sings lead about 25% and Ale when she needs to (a bit shy and doesn't want the extra attention).

Pau's not lip-syncing on this one. If you listen carefully behind Dany's vocals you can hear Pau's breathy whisper vocals like someone talking behind Dany. She does that on a couple of songs, you can hear it clearer on the studio album.

That and they are very aware of each other. For example if Dany drops a pick or her mike fails during a live show Pau can immediately become the lead singer. Yeah, stuff like that has happened to them since they play a lot of shows. Some of the best recordings of them live are the most recent appearances at the Whisky a GoGo where they sold out two consecutive nights. Those were the 3rd and 4th times they have played there. As for artists they remind me of Jukka Nevalainen the first drummer of Nightwish because both he and Pau put their whole body into the show and again from Nightwish Emmpu Vuorinen because he also plays what any particular song needs rather than just going off on a shredding tangent though he is quite capable of that also when it fits the song. Of course The Warning is not on the same level as Nightwish but they are getting there on some parts. Not really fair to think Dany or just about anyone else should match Floor Jansen vocally.

From some of the videos they have made for their Patreon, Dany mentions that Pau is basically singing or mouthing the song very softly and is ready to jump in any time if Dany has any mic or technical issues. It's a habit for pau to do this, You will often see her mouthing the words even though she is not actually singing that part of the song. The other sisters do hear her in the InEars.

Once The Warning Army shows up and comments those giving reactions are afraid to be honest. The Warning is a great band. They have their own style of music which they are not willing to give up to anyone. They don't want be another record company production. Everyone expects a girl group to sound like the mass produced girl and boy groups you hear on the radio. The Warning for now are different.

Dany (the singer) is a very funny, very expressive, outgoing young lady. When it comes to her playing and singing, she is quite conservative however. Just my opinion, but I believe it may be due to early setbacks. They were extremely young when they started playing as a band and Dany had some pretty bad mess ups playing complicated solos before she was ready. Flubbing the Crazy Train solo on Ellen as a 14 year old cannot help your confidence. She has not used tapping in years and I doubt she will again. That seemed to be her Achilles. Likewise, I have rarely heard her push her voice past the comfort zone. Hopefully, in the future she will test herself more. We will see. In the meantime, I love what they are doing now. I think there is too much vocal gymnastics in todays music as well as too lengthy and complicated instrumenal solos. If you show everything you can do in every song you perform, excellence can become boring.
@krash66

Mark I have to disagree with you about Dany. She is fearless. First, when DPA write songs, they all input on every instrumental part, and sometimes it calls for a guitar solo and sometimes not. As they have said, they play rock, not metal, and rarely does that call for shred-tastic Tapping solos. It would just not fit their style. If you want to see her "go off", watch them play "Breed" with Eruca Sativa in Argentina or "Elenor Rigby" where Lula of Eruca Sativa hands Dany the guitar. Unfortunately, both times it is hard to hear the guitar, but Dany goes off! She's got it in her, and I hope David Bendeth brought it out in her in TW3. They also understand that, as a three piece, they need to each fill out the sound, and to do that during a solo is very difficult and usually requires a rhythm guitar part to keep the sound full. This can be heard if you listen to XXICB, where Dany's solo is played over her own rhythm track, as one example. Just my opinion, Mark.

@@krash66 I would also like to add that I think two sisters would hold back any extended solo's that are not called for. Most fans would have liked longer solo's in *QOTMS* and *The End* but they actually didn't need to be longer for those songs. When I listen to *Liliac's* guitar solo at the beginning of their original *Mars* I get bored before it's over.

@@krash66 +1. Dany never comes across lacking in confidence, or being afraid of making a mistake in public -- witness her play Eternal Love off the cuff here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/il7Vc3-cqM-Gd9E . When I read this earlier this morning before you replied, my own first thought was Eleanor Rigby. And she hasn't been afraid to play more technical solos in other covers. She has said that David Gilmour and Brian May are two of her top influences, and their guitar style, focused on the music rather than showing off. I agree that it's really about style. And yes, there's the big unknown of TW3. David Bendeth is a guitarist, and his reputation as a producer is of pushing his charges hard. Regarding guitar solo, apparently a number of people weren't too happy (including their father) with how short this song is. So they went back and tried various things, including a guitar solo, and decided that none of them helped the song. One of them said "if you want this song to be longer, just play it again". Which advice I've definitely been known to take. I did it quite a few times during a vacation day while integrating a subwoofer and bi-amping my speakers, including some fun with a SPL meter. As for singing, there's that Eternal Love video, and the Dany Day video of her taking singing requests kzbin.info/www/bejne/eaTUeqmnbratbJY . Either of those -- or Crimson Queen kzbin.info/www/bejne/hGGwe4uum8h-e7M -- would be good for a vocal coach to review, as the latter is really Dany and acoustic guitar, with just a little support from Pau and Ale. For that matter, Crimson Queen at Foro Didi might be even more interesting, where her guitar mic didn't work and eventually she abandoned it altogether, took the vocal mic in hand, and sang essentially a capella: kzbin.info/www/bejne/onqpq2yfdr9_bJY As for excessive instrumental solos, that didn't start with metal. Listen to the Paganini violin caprices, for example (#24 is actually a pretty nice piece of music, but some of them are basically just shredding). Dany's solos in The End and Show Me The Light might not be particularly virtuosic, but they add a lot to the music.

@@krash66 I am sorry my friend, but I'm going to try to respond to everyone at one time here. Since almost all of the others were directed at me but to you, you get to pay the price 😁. I will agree that Dany is a confident lady, but a racecar driver who decides to try horseback riding and gets thrown a couple of times doesn't lose his confidence in his driving; he just has no confidence in his ability with horses. I may be totally off base but I believe her early failures with tapping have caused her to stop trying. I have not seen one video where she tapped that she didn't mess up. If there is one out there, give me a link. The video one of you guys talked about where she was given the guitar and played a beautiful solo, I have seen, and I don't believe there was any tapping in it. I am not being critical of Dany's solos (I think her solos are beautiful for the most part). I am not being critical of her guitar playing overall. I am and have always been team Dany. I am merely expressing my fear that she is losing an element that would help at times. I don't want 3 minute solos. I hate them. I want Dany to expand her toolbox and use different tools at different times. One of the things that got me thinking this way was a statement the producer made during recording. He said that Dany played a solo in only one take or something to that effect, like it wasn't a normal thing. Dany's solos aren't very complex and a musician of her level should be able to one-take a solo she had been rehearsing almost every time. As to her singing, yes she has confidence in her comfort zone, but she doesn't push those boundaries. The closest I've seen was the Lzzy Hale cover but you could tell she was afraid to push for that high note. Come back at me now. I will field all questions, differing opinions, and insults to the best of my ability.😝
