Michel'le is a very beautiful strong woman who might have been seen as weak by Dr Dre and naive by suga knight but in reality, she is a living testimony that us women are warriors who have so much unimaginable inner strength and that's something that can't be taken away.

I saw her perform this song live this year at Summer 614 Columbus, Ohio. After she sung this song, she was started crying. the whole crowd started praising her and telling her, "We love you", "Stay strong" etc. as much as the crowd love the song they wanted Michel'le to know that she was loved for her as a person more than and for the song itself.

Can't get enough of this song. I have it on loop! Her voice carries such power and passion. That wicked bass line just kills it!! It is shame her career and this blossoming talent was never allowed to reach her full potential! True to the words of the song, she sacrificed much and gave so much for love. What a shame.

Yeah, so sad for her. Seems the disrespect was endless, I just listened to "Turn off the Lights" I didn't know that was Michel'le singing. They gave her minimal exposure. Had I not watched the show with wife, we never would have known. She is in the best position to write a tell-all book, tell the whole story since she was in deep from the beginning. I would buy it just to support her.

I remember being 5 years old, in Woolworth's and singing this song in a little pink and yellow echo microphone. I was so embarrassed as I realized the whole damn store was watching and smiling. Too bad Dre was so abusive her, this is a beautiful song and if her wasn't such a jerk, they really could have been a great team together. Listening this song makes me so sad for her now just knowing the abuse she endured. She truly should have been a bigger star, right up there with the greats during the 80's. And for her to be so young, her voice was incredible.

I support Michel'le. I have always enjoyed her music from the beginning. It's a shame how someone can abuse a loving, caring and supporting person like her. He used her and you can clearly see that he ignored her feelings. She was asking and begging to be loved back in return. I believe in this video she's on drugs. While she is singing in this video you can see her shaking and can't keep still. Her lips are to the side when she pulse for a note. You can tell she was in pain when they were making this video. When I saw the movie I just wanted to jump in the TV and give the actress an hug. I am so glad that she was strong enough to make it OUT and to stand up for her self. I know it was hard. God Bless you Michel'le and your children too! May God Keep you In Good Health!

Felt compelled to comment here after seeing the movie and now viewing this video in its full context. Words cant express how sad it is to see unconditional love rewarded with such abuse. In the midst of all that was going on, to sing such a powerful song specifically being sung to you, all i can say is damn what a empty person. As a man i have no respect for Dre. Michel'le from the deepest part of my heart, i extend to you my deepest sympathies for your experiences and overjoyed that you have risen above it. I am glad you told your story and it is my hope that it will be an example of how not to treat each other.

Surviving Compton gives a new meaning to BEATS By Dre. I have listened to the song multiple times within the past twenty-four hours. I realized Michel'le was expressing the hurt she had to endure in her relationship with Dr. Dre. Now, when I look at her facial expressions in the video, it is so obvious something is wrong. She was hiding her pain and bruises. She really did survive Compton.
