They are objectively loaded in the computers favor every time. thus how the AI threaded the needle on Arin's props multiple times in the game. that said the AI in this game is hilariously exploitable if you know the little trick and want to waste the time doing it.

Trade for the unmortgaged property again paying the base price. Mortgage it. Rinse and repeat for a benefit for you and a net loss for the AI.

I think Arin doesn't know that the AI is rigged to get better rolls. I imagine he only thinks that they're more intelligent about trades and strategic house building rather than straight up rolling better and avoiding pitfalls. Michel getting the street repairs card was basically the only 'mistake' the AI was allowed to have at this difficulty level.

Much older PC Monopoly games actually had the difficulties use differing strategies, or would have a set of AI "personalities" you could select that all had unique strategies that were kinda tiered by how hard they were to play against. The dice were usually fair unless there was an "insane" or sometimes literally "unfair" difficulty, which would often directly hint the dice were being loaded against you.

I owned this version of monopoly for the ps5. Me and my brother played vs two hard AI in a game that lasted nearly 6 hours. By the end of it i owned every property in the game and we watched as the AI managed to roll on chance, community chest, free parking and the taxes for nearly two hours. It was obvious the AI was cheating at that point. I owned the entire board and had hotels on as much as i could and houses on everything i couldn't have hotel's on. For TWO HOURS the AI rolled exactly right to avoid EVERY PROPERTY in the game UNTIL it had enough money from Chance/Community Chest/passing GO to pay the rent. Then the cycle would repeat.

The house rules they used state that you can buy houses without a monopoly and buy hotels without having four houses. Since there was never an option onscreen to buy hotels immediately, that probably means you can buy hotels when all houses are used up.

Yeah, I think this episode proved my theory: Monopoly Plus for Windows is indeed racist towards Raptors. This man literally quit the game and reloaded 2-3 times just to give himself a chance, and the game said "no." Michel would not land on any of Arin's hotels, avoiding them like the hot damn plague of 1847, and even when Michel landed on bad Chances or whatever, and it seemed Arin had a chance to steal victory from the jaws of defeat, once again, the game said "no." If this doesn't prove it, I don't know what will. With that said, I bet if Arin stayed in jail, he would have won.

This one got lucky because Arin had about 4 big properties at worst, when he could have done stuff like unmortgage railroads for a lot more $100 spaces. i get the AI is hard and probably influences the dice rolls, but even that went against all probability to pretty much never land on any of the big money properties at least once. That AI influence over the rolls was too heavy handed.

I can’t remember where I read this, I think it was in the comments of another grumps monopoly video, and idk if this is true but allegedly the AI is the same intelligence for every difficulty or maybe slightly higher or lower; the difficulty settings mostly just influence how lucky everyone’s dice rolls are. In a way that’s even MORE infuriating because it’s basically artificial difficulty lol the AI is actually stupid and gets lucky rolls from the game being on their side

Standard Arin procedure for any game that involves strategy: 1. Don't bother learning the rules. 2. Make terrible decisions. 3. Lose 4. Complain that you lost because of bad luck and/or some kind of bias in the game. It was very poetic that Boardwalk was his undoing shortly after he let the AI have it for less than its mortgage value.

Letting the NPC get a dark blue when you could get it and MAKE money... Not seeing you have a utility to mortgage and start selling houses first... Paying the computer while they're in jail then next turn not knowing if you get paid in jail so you leave early... I love these guys and I know it's not easy to do what they do but this one REALLY tests me.

I play this a good bit. AI difficulty doesn't really affect the strategy of the AI it just changes the likelihood that the AI lands on the player's properties. It actually changes the dice rolls.

Arin for the love of everything, stop putting the AI on hard in this game. It doesn't actually make them a more intelligent or difficult opponent, it just means that they make better rolls. The rolls in this game are _not random_ for AI set to hard. They will _never_ land on your properties unless it can't really hurt them all that badly. The game is _poorly programmed._ Just set them to normal!
