What a extravagant figure. What a superbe pianist.

Lads and Gents, one of the greatest pianists ever. His Debussy is just sublime. Check his recordings of Mompou as well . Thank you Maestro for giving me hours of unmatched happiness.

That piece is so casual and beautiful, I've never heard a piece of music before that feels so laid back. I need to listen to more Debussy! It's totally different from other music.

believe me it is everything but casual to play 🥲

Debussy is dope. In the same way a Chopin reflects the renaissance-inspired realist art of his day, Debussy is the watercolor impressionist that paints in 12 tones and 88 keys. Block chords, a prelude type of sound, some jazziness, and a rock solid confidence in his ability to express deep meaning regardless of sonic simplicity-through it-and sometimes very complex too. If liszt is eminem and chopin is drake, debussy is definitely kanye

Note the real title is 'Danseuses de Delphes' (with an 's' at the end of the first word) : meaning 'Delphes (she-)dancers'.

There’s no doubt about Michelangeli’s skill. He was an absolute professionist, and nobody could say the otherside. However, i personally don’t like his interpretation of this piece. This prélude is one of the most cautious and beautifully written than the entire Debussy’s catalogue; and the way that Arturo plays it is static, fast and “too much perfect”, for me. I think this should be an expression of something ethereal; like the Danseuses De Delphes statue was. A reflection of the past, if we can call it in this way. So, i think Debussy’s roll is way more representative. Debussy’s rolls are often totally out of our times, but this one is wonderful. I also love Krystian Zimerman’s interpretation: try to give it a listen!

This tempo is very similar to Debussy's tempo on his piano roll of the piece.

Are you sure? I remember that the Debussy’s roll was way more slow and cautious. There are a lot of “strange rolls”, like the Minstrels one; but this one is brilliant for me.
is this guy wearing a shirt with the belt on the outside of it???

Unfortunately, it seems there is no video recording of book 2 by Michelangeli.

Cioè all'ottavo si può portare sto brano? Per carità molto bello e profondo, ma dal punto di vista tecnico mi sembra una porcata, praticamente è una prova regalata.

This is lent y grave. ...not andante and romantic cmon!! I love michaelangeli but he got this interpretation wrong. There is a lot of breathing in this piece and more mystery.
