Questi due brani sono due piccoli capolavori. Alla fine si resta pieni di stupore. Magnifica l'interpretazione di Michelangeli!

Thanks punkpoetry for these miniatures by Schumann. ABM's playing a bit cold and tight but it doesn't matter because they are called 'Winterzeit' ;-)

Yeah and especially if you compare his Carnival and Faschingsschwank aus Wien from these very 1970s studio sessions to the incredible live recordings from the late 1950s, the difference is palpable. It's colder and less inspired, frankly. Still, there are pianists whose every recording I want to be closely familiar with, and Michelangeli is one of them!

I agree, and would even say, for me Michelangeli is the only one, I adore him!

ABM is cold for blabla listeners. He is equally warm as restrained.

Overall I agree (being a huge fan of ABM) but he certainly made some studio recordings that could be seen as not very inspired by comparison to his greatest live performances. Still, his playing never fails to fascinates me, and I'll take a "cold" Michelangeli over a thousand "warm" pianists emoting all over the music they play every single time.
