I saw on KGD’s IG that they said all the color shades are the same except 123. For 123, they “removed the peachiness to make it more yellow-toned to fit skin tones in the US market better” so the new shade 123 is a different color from the old formula!

Thank you so much for reviewing the new formula! There's not a lot of reviews out there, and yours was so thorough. I accidentally discovered the new formula when I thought I was purchasing the old one, but I actually love it more and plan to wear it for my wedding. It does look more like makeup because it is a touch thicker than the original, but I find that it doesn't cling to dry patches around my nose and chin and lasts longer than the original formula. I was also a 123 in the original formula and it was a bit more peachy, but the 123 in the new formula was too dark and neutral for me. I also discovered I prefer the 113.

Have been using the new Koh Gen Do Aqua Foundation for a few weeks - loving the new formula - use it the same way you do. Gives a natural finish, feels like nothing on the skin, last a very long time and no need for touch ups. I just love this - heavily used in my rotation of La Mer, Tom Ford and La Prarie - and at a great price point in comparison. I use an Artis oval 7 to apply it and the application is flawless. My skin is fair, mature and dry. Thank Michelle for a great review, as always.

Mi Chelle I use 013 - in Tom Ford, cream 1.5, in La Mer I use ivory 02 - the Koh Gen Do 013 is a perfect match - a neutral, cool slightly rosy undertone. My skin is neutral leaning towards pink, but more neutral. I really like this foundation and can also use 012 which is more neutral, less pink and a slight bit lighter, but the 013 is perfect. BTW, the Koh Gen Do website send out samples of the shade range. Hope this helps.

I love the aqua foundation, been using it for the past 2 years. However, I'm super disappointed in the company with this "reformulation". I pulled up the ingredient lists for the new and old formula and compared them side by side. I found that one one ingredient was removed (zirconium oxide) other wise the rest were the exact same and in the same order. Mica is listed twice (repeats at the very bottom of the inci list) and some specific iron oxides are called out at the bottom. I sent them an email to ask exactly what is "new" because this feels like a simple repackage and price increase...not a formula improvement.

I appreciate your descriptive review - it’s nice that you’re not negatively critical but able to highlight the key differences between the old and new formulas. With that said.... time to stock up on the old one. I just adore radiant foundations! Especially since there is that color difference between the original and new, I don’t think my overly olive-toned ass would be able to handle a shade change for 213 😭

Hi, I tried the 213 in the original and in the new version. While it is a bit too yellow for me, I think the new formula shade is very similar to the original from what I recall, maybe a slight touch darker but same tone. Might be worth it to try. Also, koh gen do currently has a final sale on the old formula on its website if you'd rather stock up on that.

I did not like the old formula because it was tricky to apply as it was a bit blotchy if you use the "wrong" tool. It's also not that buildable. However, I do agree that as the day goes on, the foundation looks really nice. I might reconsider giving the new formula a chance in the near future. Thanks for the review!

I was hoping you would review the new formula. This looks really beautiful but definitely less radiant compared to the old. I could always add CT Flawless Filter if I wanted more radiance. Totally agree this looked even better as the day went on and held up so nicely! Really really beautiful.

I love KGD. Funny you say that you use it in the summer, as I use mine more in the winter, due to the dewiness (which I love). And thanks to you, I went to their site to check out the new stuff -- and saw that the old formula is on sale! Still not "cheap" at $52, but I grabbed one, along w/an illuminator. So your viewers should check it out if they like the old formula.

This foundation is really lovely, and I think would work for many occasions, but I think for a wedding it depends on a lot of things. Indoor/Outdoor? Will it be humid? What is your skin type? And the coverage is on the lighter side. I know a lot of brides prefer something more full coverage.

Skin type is normal-dry, indoor wedding in August in Halifax, Canada. I like light coverage as my skin is pretty good. I just want to even out my skin. Thanks for all your feedback!

The new 123 looks a lot more yellow than the old one in your comparison. You didn't comment on that, so I wonder if it was just the lighting or if you noticed that too.

Hi Katherine - I did notice it and wasn't sure if my older bottle had darkened. But the rep at KGD said that they had removed a lot of the peachiness out of the 123 to make it more neutral and less warm. I mention it in later videos, but not in this one. Apologies for any confusion!

I’m scared of powder foundations. Haven’t tried that other one. I’m very dry because of my thyroid and the climate and so my sensitive skin and allergies which is a lot 😩

I hope they will be offering samples on their website. The Maifanshi moisture makeup (In the tube) works really well for me and is totally worth the price but Aqua foundation looked terrible. It sank into my pore and lines and I could not wait to wash it off. I didn’t use a brush and maybe that was part of the problem. I don’t know if I should give the new formula a try. The Maifanshi is too heavy for warm weather.
