www.revzilla.com/michelin-tire...
The Michelin Power Sportbike tire group offer a family of tires for the sportbike and hypersport rider who want a tire they can rip on the street and even take to the track. The most economical of the series is the Pilot Power which is a 95% Street / 5% Track, single compound tire that offers long tread life. The Power 2CT is the most popular of the bunch, upping the ante of the Pilot Power with a dual compound tire that is a 90% Street / 10% Track tire that strikes the perfect balance between premium performance at an affordable price. The Power Pure is the lightest and features exceptional grip, handling and cornering stability with a 85% Street / 15% Track application. The Power One is offered in a street and track only version and is the most sporting tire of the Power series offering. Event the street version of the Power One is rated as 30% Street / 70% Track and designed for a fast warm up and maximum grip.

Hey Kaleos13, do you still think the 2CT is the best option even with the Pilot Road 3 and Pilot Power 3 (both with 2CT technology) on the market? -CK

I have ran the pilot 2ct for the last 2 sets on my 2009 FZ1. Excellent tire. I have ridden in both rain and dry with no issues. Also get track days out of them keeping up with dedicated track bikes. The wear is awesome. 8000-9000 miles on mine. Highly recommend them for anybody on the fench. I have several riding videos both track and road and those are the tires on in those videos if you would like to see how they perform.

+ZX Redlined: Q: Curious on a rough longevity estimate on the pp2ct ? And If there's a better updated version of the tire. A: The Pilot Power 2CT should last a few thousand miles depending on how hard you ride. The more power your bike has, the faster the tires will wear. As an upgrade, the Pilot Power 3 has about 15-20% more grip and longevity compared to the PP2CT. -DrewZilla

I loved my Pilot Power 2's that came on bike when i bought it, and loved them. however being 2007ish round-a-about timing its old tech so i opted for something newer I can continue to use in future and get a good feel of how the tires are best for my riding. So I got Battlax S22's and so far totally loving them.

Yes, they'll do ok for occasional track day use. You'll find that the rubber won't really get up to temperature like a track tire will. Lean angles are about the same, I just wouldn't slam the throttle with the bike leaned all the way over. -CK

I've recently used a set of the Pilot Powers tires on my modded Gen II Busa and absolutely love them.! They give excellent grip even under hard agressive acceleration in any lean angle. I plan on purchasing a set of the 2CT for my next trial. This video gives great detail and quickly summarizes whats to expect from these tires.

I typically go thru about 7-9 sets of tires each season and the Pilot Powers serve a perfect purpose for me. As a street and trackday rider, I find these tires to be the best overall for my needs. I've tried alot of other tires and keep coming back to these! Nice job on the review.

WV has some great riding. There is a track called Summit Point that is a hoot to ride. I think the Pilot Power are a decent choice for the riding you described, but you might prefer the handling the Pilot Power 2CT or even the Power Pure if you find yourself at the track. ~Ali

It's true, a new tire needs some break-in time, but if you ride smooth, you should be fine. Most tire manufacturers suggest to keep it easy for the first 100 miles. I've never heard of a tire manufacturer suggesting a burnout, we just suggest keeping it easy during the break-in phase. ~Ali
@RevZilla

The Power Pure is a good choice for your bike, but you might not like the Power 2CT, as the center compound is stiffer than the Power Pure and you will loose some traction in hard straight-line acceleration. For your bike and it's rear-wheel power, you might also consider the Metzeler K3 that uses variable tension steel belts to provide max traction at high speeds in the center of the tire. ~Ali

Cold tires can be tricky. It doesn't take much time to warm the tires up, but if the ground is frozen, you could have some loss of traction. I've heard good things about the Bridgestone S20 that has a quick warm up time and performs good in the cold. ~Ali

The Michelin Pilot Power is definitely not considered a track tire, though they could suffice for occasional use. The Michelin Pilot Power Pure are a better option, but if you are serious about your lap times, you'll be racing track-only tires that are sold only at the track. I would not recommend these tires for traveling, as the mileage and wet traction is not there for this heavily sport-oriented tire. In addition, I need to say how different rider experience can be depending on your style.

I was dragging knees through a corner when I tightened up my line just a little bit and the rear tire gave. I was on the pilot road's though (touring tires). It's good to know that they're good for knee-dragging in canyons though. Time to move up to real sportbike tires though as I think I've exceeded the limit of traction.

It's hard to predict how long a tire will last, especially without knowing what bike you are riding and how much time you spend at the track. The harder center compound should result in more mileage if you primarily use your bike to commute / tour. ~Ali

a good idea for futur videos would be to include optimal tire temp for particular tires best traction and performance. being that higher end race intended tires need more heat than even aggressive city and country twisties riding can get to. best to get high performing street tires with that certain temp range would be best for those city and touring tires.

I have Pilot Power3 2CT on my CBR1100XX and Pilot Power 2CT on my Ducati 999s. The 3s on the CBR are great, can't ask for better. The rear on the Duc slips easily. It's dated 1312 but was in a garage and almost unused until recently; still had the nipples and had only contacted the ground in the center half of the tire so not heated at all. I haven't ridden it very much and haven't pushed it hard at all. It seems to maybe be a little better after putting a few miles on it but early on it slipped so easily I've been afraid to push it. Do you think it just needs the surface worn down some to get rid of aged rubber on the surface? Is the compound on the Pilot Power3 much stickier than the Pilot Power? It seems that maybe having the RPM up helps some, like maybe the engine pulses are breaking the traction, but this is just me guessing and I'm still adjusting to the bike. Lastly, I run the Ducati recommended pressures, I believe it's 31F 32R, should I go lower? It's a single seater, I'm about 175LBS fully geared, and don't care about wear life I just want it to stick and handle as best as possible.

Every tire has a directional indication embossed on the side of the tire. If you are having your tires mounted by a professional, they will know to go by the tires indication. The way it's displayed on the table is not necessarily in the correct direction for each set of tires.. We do not, however, recommend mixing brands, such as running a Dunlop Q2 on the front and a Michelin 2Ct on the rear. ~Ali

Hard to warm up compared to other season tires.Does this sound normal? I cant find an answer from anyone about this and am hoping it is not sand or slick spots i am missing. Seeing this in 2018, and I had to check if the playback speed is NOT 0.5x in the very first seconds of the video.

I only got 8200 on my 2cts but loved them and going to buy a 2nd set next week. I am running them on a 09 Busa all street, cant see taking it and my fat ass to the track to get spanked....lol

Nice! 8,200 miles? That's pretty respectable considering the weight and power output of your Hayabusa. Thanks for sharing Stephen Pinnella! -Hi-Viz Brian

Dunlop 211-GPA is the best bar none. Michelin High Sides are slow to warm up and have very unpredictable slide characteristics.

BTW, I just got Pilot Power 2CT's from extremesupply(dot)com for $238 shipped. 120/70-17 and 180/55-17 for my 2008 Triumph Daytona 675. This was the cheapest I could find.

If you don't know dual sport from a hole in the ground - I respect that - as long as you state it. Say something (anything) about Pirelli M21 or any Pirelli dual sport. Or just state you don't understand the concept - and I'll move on.

This video is for Michelin tires, but perhaps you meant to comment on the Pirelli tire video. Unfortunately, we don't have a specific video for the MT21 tires, so the only video on the product page is the Pirelli Brand Overview. As for the MT21 tires, they're really focused for off-road riding with a bit of road riding. They work well for varied terrain including in both the dry and wet. Great all-around DOT-legal off-road tires. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/pirelli-mt21-rallycross-tires
