@garymaclean69032 ай бұрын
I've owned both the Michelin Road 5 tires and the Metzler Roadtec Z8 Interact and I found the Metzlers were the better choice for my BMW R1150 RS Sport-Tourer. First, the type of riding I do is not the type where I'm cornering to the extreme edge of the tire's contact patch. While yes I have 'chicken strips on the edges of my tires, I do enjoy 'spirited rides' in the twisties regularly, and I believe that more extreme riding puts others at risk, so is too risky for the street, IMHO. That being said, I cannot say one tire is better for traction in those situations. What I have found is both give great handling and traction under the riding conditions that likely 95% of riders experience. Where the Metzlers seem to excel is their dual-levels of rubber hardness, where the centre strip is designed for mileage, while the softer sides are for optimal cornering. As a result I was able to get 24,000-km from the Metzlers, while the Michelins are close to the wear bar limits at about 14,000-km. I will be switching back to Metzler Roadtec Z8 Interact for my next set...

That's very interesting, thanks for sharing! I had the Z8s on this bike before and I agree they are excellent tyres. I got 10,000 miles (16,000 km) from my set a d would be very happy to put them on again. I'll have to see what mileage I get from these tyres but I'm hoping it will exceed that amount. They're also dual compound. Appreciate the comments 👍
