I suggest you visit a suspension specialist. I had just started track days on my Ducati Monster S2R1000, and quickly realized I needed new tires. So I had a pair of top Pirellis fitted and it made a huge difference, a very big improvement. Then I went to the racers favorite suspension tuner, who fitted "gold valves" and new springs to the fork, and new springs to the rear shock. That was a revelation - and at least as big an improvement as the tires had been the week before. I could drop down inside other riders all over the track. On road riding did get stiffer, by maybe a third. But, I had been looking for track performance. The tuner can set you up with smooth handling with the correct sag for better handling. Go to the specialist.

I fitted Road 6's to my Triumph Speed Twin two months ago, 3,000 miles later they have transformed the bike. Where previously when fitted with the OEM Metzeler Racetec RR K3's the ride was harsh and uncomfortable, also scary in the wet, it is now far more comfortable and the Road 6's give great confidence on all roads in all conditions. I also have the Road 6's on a BMW R1250GS and longevity is supurb; they have covered 10,000 miles mostly touring with pillion and luggage and the front tyre still has 2mm and the rear the best part of 5mm remaining. I binned those Michelins on my Zed and went for Pirelli MT60 pretend-knobbly. Relevant, because like you say, tyres can alter a bike. My Zed is a million times better now, and I certainly don't tip-toe as much in the wet. I don't go fast enough to get them too hot, plus the roads where I live are shite. They felt really skatey to me. My mate Pad has a Speed Twin with loud pipes on. Sounds ace. I test rode one before getting my Scrambler 1200, but it felt too small at the time, hence the Scrambler. Keep up the good work. :)

Thanks for another enjoyable video. As an alternative to Ohlins, you might consider rear shocks by YSS. I added them to my '21 Speed Twin 1200, and they improved the ride and handling significantly. The YSS shocks are fully adjustable, look better than the chunky OEM's, and for substantially less money than the Ohlins. If only I could figure out how to include a photo in this comment.

Alan Turin by Dominic Cumberband 😅😂. Love the Road 6, have them on my R1250R this year and it grips so much better - really added such drive, so confidence inspiring in the twisties and the wet. Will just need to see the mileage I can get out of them!

In my case, I bought TKC70s thinking on-road performance would suffer compared to the Pirelli Phantom Comps I had before, but I was pleasantly surprised when I found that the Contis were better both on and off-road. In my case, it was definitely not in my head!

Riding in the dry on road most tyres will work well, when it’s wet tread pattern and hardness of rubber make a difference. Should say I’m yet to find a tyre that cope with white lines or road paint in the wet yet.

Andy, we are off to Wales on our annual sojourn in August and a note of any worthwhile locations to visit would be much appreciated in the event that you don’t post a vid on your trip.

Oh wow - too many to mention and depends where you are headed - I love mid/North Wales the best, just can't go wrong there. if you ride randomly between Dolgellau, Bethgellert, Bala, Betwsy-Coed and llanberris you won't go far wrong!

Will do. This will be our third year and the Mach Loop is already on the agenda.
