The 1st Michelin star restaurant I went to was during white truffle season - it was an off season so they were something like $35 per gram. We had about 5 courses, a couple of bottles of very nice (vintage) wine, and white truffles on EVERYTHING. When the bill came, my buddy looked at it, and basically said that I was going to get massive sticker shock, so since I was unprepared for what this would cost, he'd pay the majority, and I'd basically just pay for the wine, and the tip. The bill was nearly as much as my monthly rent (over $1K). In hindsight, we way overdid the white truffles - but it was still a meal that lives fresh in my memory. Sometimes ya just gotta go big or go home.

Despite establishing the world’s largest empire, the residents of the British Isles spent several hundred years earning a reputation as a nation with bland, poorly cooked food starting in the 17th century, and only began to reverse the damage beginning in the late 1950’s. Read “British Food - An extraordinary thousand years of history” by British writer Colin Spencer to understand why. He establishes 9 factors that led to that reputation - and none of them have to do with American soldiers billeted to the U.K. during WWII.

I'm fortunate to be fairly well travelled and from my experience if you think Germany has better food overall than the UK, something is very odd indeed. Dont mistake me...I love weisswurst and spritzgeback...but overall my food experiences in the UK and Italy are far better than Germany. However, what I would say is that as a rule British cuisine rests on quality ingredients and the ability to detect seperate and also subtle flavours, and other cuisines are very much based on strong flavours, cream, wine, garlic etc. and combination flavours. Usually there is something to enjoy and appreciate wherever you go, and understanding the underpinning of different styles of cuisine should help to appreciate it.

It would be great if in videos like these, where they try Michelin star food, they should bring people who have been on the channel like their spouses, twin brothers and other people, it would be great to see their reaction along with Josh & Ollie's reaction to the food.

I love how ollie is so patient and eats wholeheartedly while josh is bougie and tries a bit hard to be proper 😂 Ollie - " you would've been so angry if I broke that basket" - so true! 😂

Josh looks like a young member of parliament, while Ollie went for a used car salesman. 😂 This partnership makes life so interesting! You guys make me laugh and give me a sense of wonder about the world. ❤
