I’m so glad to hear they referred you to poison control. I worked at our state’s poison control center for 9 years and so many vets forget we do animals as well as humans. We do have the computer program and knowledge to run mg per kg of body weight to determine toxicity. Even though ER docs and vets do this kind of stuff on a daily basis it’s still easier to get the first hand knowledge for a qualified toxicologist so they can begin patient care and not worry about the numbers in an emergency situation

Glad Max is ok. I've had 2 dogs eat chocolate with no side effects. Can you take ibuprofen? It's much more effective for cramps than Tylenol.

We use Healthy Paws. They don't nickel and dime each thing like most pet insurances. Routine healthcare isn't covered, but all of sick care is. They have different plan levels. We got the 90% one, which has saved us thousands over the years with one of our mini-assie shepherds who gets into everything.

So sorry about Max. Try to stock the chocolate(proteinbars)higher up so he cannot reach them. Dogs are tempted by the smell just as we are but theobromein makes their heartrate increase very much. That is why it is so dangerozs. Good that everything rurned out well. In the end it is just money when your precious pet is saved.❤

So sorry to hear about your week Michel! Poor Max! That feeling when you realise your dog ate something he really shouldn’t have and your heart just sinks… this has happened to us a number of times and I felt so guilty and worried every time. Our dogs likes to eat fabric which can cause dangerous blockages. Luckily in our case we always realised quickly what happened and could sort it by inducing vomiting but we need to be super vigilant and can’t leave our dog alone for that reason. I’ve had countless sleepless nights as a result - not fun. I can only echo your point about pet insurance! Hope things are turning around for you now and the pms is leaving you alone. Having a couple of really rough weeks myself with work and family and no end or solution in sight right now. Stress is taking a toll on my body and mind. Your videos are a welcome little distraction during this time.

A Care Credit card is also helpful as it's usually a 12-month free interest on payments for Dentists and Vets. Depending on the amount you put on the card is the amount of time you have to pay it back. Almost all Vets and Dentists will take it.

I'm so happy to hear Max is ok. I love my pet insurance and highly recommend getting it. Mine covers 80% minus a deductible (per year not visit and based on age of pet). Mine is Petline but I've heard Trupanion is even better and pays most vets directly.

My son’s 5 year old labradoodle is suddenly being a naughty girl & getting into anything left on their kitchen table. This is brand new behavior from her & I experienced the brunt of it while I was dog & house sitting. My son had left ziplock bags full of candy they had purchased while in Japan for me to give to my grandchildren, but I didn’t get the opportunity to share the candy because their dog got to it before me. She literally ate all of the candy, wrappers included. My son & his wife were on their way to Singapore, so I couldn’t reach them by phone. It was the scariest 24 hours of my life! Thankfully, she was also okay, but I was frantic until I knew she was out of the woods. I am so relieved to know that Max is also okay! Be careful because once a dog gets a taste of chocolate, they become obsessed with it (not unlike us humans, lol).

Poor Max, that collar looks to be a bit overkill and uncomfortable. You should use a harness for walks, their little necks can be injured using a collar. Glad he is feeling better.

Can you take Advil? Because of my autoimmune I can't take Tylenol. It damages my liver. Advil is an anti inflammatory, may help you better for cramps. Love when you film at the beach.

I have Pets Best insurance for my pup & they are great & pay 90%….the only issue with pet insurance is it’s very affordable for the first couple of years & then just increases immensely each year. It was approximately $40 per month initially & now several years later it’s $153 per month & I’m a bit stuck because he’s 11, so switching & preexisting plus age makes that impossible.
