Michelle Gomez is a brilliant actress and I LOVE her Master. I really love how Missy crosses borders that we would have never expected to be crosses (Osgood's death, Master/ Doctor kiss). I hope she comes back!!

+TheSevenofMine I don't agree. She is nothing like Roger Delgado's Master. His was the quintessential arch criminal type. A Moriarty-like Science Fiction super villain. An old-fashioned Lex Luthor type evil scientist. The Mistress is a Joker type villain. A totally unhinged terrorist who revels in pain and depravity. The longer the Doctor allows her to roam free the greater the body count. I was pleased to see Roger Delgado and Jon Pertwee clash. To hear Delgado say "I am The Master". I cringe at Gomez's politically correct crazy construct. Sorry. I just don't like characters who threaten to eat the Doctor's companion.

I remember an episode of the Sunday Night Project that Catherine Tate hosted about seven years back where Justin Lee Collins asked her if she thought the Doctor would ever be portrayed by a woman. She had said no, she didn't seem to think so, but even back then people were asking this question when David Tennant was the Doctor. Especially now that Michelle Gomez has paved the way for cross-gender regeneration, I don't see why a female Doctor isn't possible.

The arch nemesis can be overused. The Joker was "retired" for several years in the 1970s, but Batman still thrived. A great hero doesn't need an evil twin or continually returning mastermind so much as a great rogue’s gallery of villains. The Doctor has that. Sherlock Holmes fought his opposite, Dr. Moriarty, and dispatched him. The Doctor should do the same with The Master. He has plenty of old and new monsters to contend with. A new rogue Time Lord to challenge him would be interesting.

With Missy's heartless, pointless murder of Osgood I never want to see her Master again. Especially as it would lessen the appearance of the Brig Cyberman at the end of the episode.

I understand your sentiments but The Master is a villain, and he/she has killed countless people before. If the character angers you, the actress is doing her job. You can't have light without dark.

John Curcio Ahh, but this Missy character has done the unforgivable. She killed a likable character. In the past The Master has always killed extras, with no emotional value invested. But then any character like The Master must come to an end. It becomes ridiculous for such a fiend to always escape justice. Their continued return becomes a glaring failure for the hero. Daleks and Cybermen don't really count as the individuals are always punished/destroyed. It is only The Master that is never truly held accountable. She could return one more time, but after that If she returns the blood of all she kills will be on The Doctors hands.

stramayne are you kidding? The Master/Mistress is going to live as long as The Doctor does. If fact if The Doctor does ever get a final end, it would be taking down The Master/Mistress. Remember, the last episode of the original series was a Master story as well, keeps coming back like the Energizer Bunny of Evil....... or like the Joker.

luisrmz0 You are so right. I thought of The Joker when I wrote about Missy. The Joker character is ridiculous when allowed to endlessly get away with mass murder. It makes Batman seem inept when he does nothing. The Doctor is the in the same boat if he continues to look the other way at The Master's base villainy. David Tennant's Doctor already passed that mark when he tried to save The Master during the End of Time episodes. I think it is past the time for the Doctor to forgive and forget. The Master is a character who must logically be put to rest. John Simm's tragic Master would've been a nice way for the character to go out. There is no good end for Missy, so I say just forget her.

I'm not a fan of a continuing villain who racks up a ridiculous body count. I think there is a point where the evil perpetrated by a character such as The Master is so great that there must be an accounting or else it becomes ludicrous. Dr. Moriarty was defeated and Sherlock Holmes returned. The Doctor does need The Master to be the hero. I think there should be a final encounter with The Master after which a new villain should be created to replace her. If not every time she returns and The Doctor does not dispatch her he will be a failure and the blood she sheds will be on his hands.
