I think she's saying she wasn't inspired and though truant she got it done well and faster. The system then was not rigorous nor attentive to variety of kids needs. It was very much one or two sizes fits all and she seems very bright but fell through cracks academically bit she made a career and way for herself that was far beyond what others did or imagined. She isn't just lockey to look at, she is diligent and talented and bright.
