I have a relative who invents lots of stories that didn’t happen or not to the extent she describes the events. She is a huge narcissist, speaks about herself only and constantly. Unfortunately she loves to indulge into trends and anything that goes on, she claims to have experience with. It could be sexual assault or racial issues or childhood abuse … Most of her stories are nothing but a lie, but she convinces herself that they are true. Human brain is a big wonder!

B.D. Hyman published her first two books "My Mother's Keeper" (1985) and "Narrow Is the Way" (1987) while Bette Davis was still alive. Betty had suffered from a stroke before the first book was published. Bette died in 1989 after disinheriting BD and her family. BD went on to write several more books. *May Bette Davis R.I.P.. I find it a bit difficult to believe Bette transformed into a demon with long claws or cast spells on folks. BD was either tripping or had a fantasical imagination. For myself, this kind of narrative casts shadows over every horrible thing she said about her mother. Bette Davis has been a beloved part of Hollywood history for almost 90 years. Her talent and range were phenomenal. She never shied away from playing unattractive or hateful roles; she took these characters and ran with her performance. There hasn't been anyone like her since she passed. Thank you, Miss Davis, for sharing your legendary talent with all of us. ❤

To honor a mother, doesn't mean to overlook her abuse, but to acknowledge her as your mother and not try to expose her as a bad person. My dad was abusive, but I am grown now and I chose to honor him as my dad, I haven't forgotten his abuse, but I have turned it over to God and don't dwell there. I would never claim to be a Christian and then go on a money making rampage to destroy my mother's reputation. Even if she was abusive while growing up.

I will be 74 in July. I fell in love with Bette Davis when I saw a movie I no longer remember in the 70s. ❤ Love all her movies. ❤ I've read several books on her. What I heard here was in the books. I believe that BD and her husband were greedy and used Betty, which didnt stop BD from writing her book. Bette helped them both financially. I dont quit remember everything but, if BD was a true Christian, this book would not have been published, then again money is the root of all evil. I wonder what BDs children have to say. I haven't heard anything about Bettes other children either. If their life was so bad then why haven't they spoke up or written a book? They need to speak up but, maybe they don't want to hurt their mom. We all have sin in our lives and fall short of the glory of God. BD apparently doesnt know her Bible. My brother and my life was very far from perfect. God is our judge. Please, find it in your heart to forgive your mom, evan if she is no longer with us. BD, I WONDER WHAT YOUR CHILDREN WOULD HAVE TO SAY ABOUT YOU AND THEIR DAD. 🤔

This kind of abuse and neglect reported by the daughter resonates with me. Was it just a means to an end? To louche the daughter for something more nefarious? How do we protect ourselves from "charms", since many DO believe this way? My abuse mirrored that of "Mommy Dearest", so I question the archetypal templates of abuse... Entities? Vampirism? Cortisol?

B.D. praised her mother lavishly on 6o Minutes (it;s here on KZbin)-- she then saw what a runaway hit "Mommie Dearest" was and waited until it looked likely that Bette's time was also almost up (after two strokes, a mastectomy, and a broken hip) to release her own hateful tome. .But Bette survived and the public rallied around her much to B.D."s regret... B.D.'s since become largely forgotten, having no talent of her own except perhaps the ability to lure the obscenely gullible into her wacky supernatural belief system.

Even though both women, could be difficult at times, and they really were, they brought so much talent, and unforgettable, performances, to the big screen. Christina and Barbara, might have had their reasons for being bitter, and I dont feel its all lies, but to expose them, before and after they have passed wasn't right and what would it have changed? Like should people stop liking their films and hate them? All I know, that even if they could be, witches at times, they were only human and no one is perfect, though. they try to be. The daughter is what is called "functionally insane." This has been known for aboug 30 years now. Bette Davis was never violent, and she drank as casually as the rest of us. She was the First Lady of the cinema and brought joy to countless millions of people the last 80 years. She was strong, as a woman needed to be if she was to survive a business entirely run my misogynistic men of power and extreme wealth. Family should show respect for family business gossip. Especially when you are trying to make money on your comments..Now that is a really awful sad thing to do. Bettie Davis you are the best actress that l have ever known, in my lifetime.

Famous people often make bad parents, alas. How much BD says is true and how much fiction will never be known. Many of us had miserable childhoods, but one has to move on, and not rehash the past.

The best actress forever. Regardless of her looks, her talent, courage, work ethic, and strong female roll model makes her the best. She said herself, you can't be a good parent and a great actress. She thought she could do both. Unfortunately her children and husband's lost out.

Don't people know by now, that christian "love" is the pretense for hiding the hate it really is. BD is the perfect example of this.

Another daughter of an actress gets her 15 minutes of fame & notoriety by airing dirty laundry regarding her famous, talented Mother, who also supported her and her family. No matter the truth and it's not unusual for parents & children, especially daughters and mothers to be at odds come out publically to maligning her mother, Bette Davis post her stroke, and death imo shows her lack of love, and poor taste Good for Davis for disinheriting her.

Bette Davis was not nominated for an Oscar for “Of Human Bondage”. Although she received rave reviews and gained the respect of the industry for this role, Warner Brothers loaned her out to another studio so there was no publicity push for Bette to even get nominated for it. She won the following year for Dangerous, but it is generally believed it was the consolation prize for not having won for Bondage the prior year .

I have seen both sides in families. The hateful, 2 faced, jealous daughter and the self-sacrificing holy mother. Then there's the hateful, 2 faced, jealous of her daughter's youthful beauty, mother and the innocent mistreated young daughter. I wasn't there to witness Anything and I'm not here to judge anyone. I just look and listen and keep my personal opinion, PERSONAL.

The times back then were very different … I don’t think a lot of kids had happy childhood’s from either generation… very sad. Bette Davis was an incredible actress and has provided financially, long after her death for BD. BD needs a better therapist.
