inertia = the resistance of a mass to a change in motion aka the stubborness of something to keep doing what its doing. the more inertia, the more force required to change somethings velocity (F=ma) if you want to move faster, you want less inertia because then the force you use would be able to have a greater affect. therefore, she tucked in her arms DECREASING her moment of inertia allowing her to move faster xD

She executes 3-turn before she jumps, so it is 3F. But she executes it with outside edge. It is called Lip( Flip with wrong edge).

Kayla Jaimi Stockwell Yes, there is two types skaters who execute a Flip jump. One is who executes it after 3 turn, for example Yuna-Kim, Sotonikova, Gold and so on. The other is who executes it after Mohawk, for example Mao Asada.

The movie's premise is so silly. There is not much new "science" to be discovered by high schoolers in figure skating. The mechanism of these jumps is known. But you also need muscle strengh, muscle memory and so on to be able to execute those jumps. The jumps need to be trained for long time. Otherwise all skaters could get a silly computer programs and jump quads without much training.

I think she already had her edge since in the beginning of this film, she's seen skating with fair moves, she can do spins already so I think it pretty helps her in delivering what she did with her jump. It was only strengthen when she was forced to integrate physics into her passion for skating.. :)

Nope. It was a flip. Note the left outside 3-turn, with no changing of edge, right toe in the ice, left rotation. It was definitely a flip.
