Wondering how to Kegel? This video shows you the 3 steps. Try using a rolled towel see 4:03 if you can't feel your exercises. Plus here's how to breathe and Kegel kzbin.info/www/bejne/jpusnpaiiJ58mKs It can take a little practice ... you've got this!

My doctor told me to order Kegel Exercise System. They are weights so you can feel it when you are strengthening your pelvic floor. Was this a good idea or Not? It is making me wonder now.

Thank you so much for this video and explaining in such depth! After my first child was born no one told me the importance of maintaining your “pelvic floor” or the existence of exercises that might help me strengthen and better my body. Doctors only told me it was normal that I was experiencing pain and discomfort during intimacy after child birth. Now it’s 2 years later and I am still experiencing the same pain and discomfort and I had to research what was wrong with me.. so here I am, barely finding out that this is a thing. So thank you for step by step walk through!💕

Great instruction. I’ve been doing kegel exercise since I was a child because I was born with a small bladder and used to wet the bed. My urologist explained to my mom that they would help. And they did. However, now as I’m older and have an overactive bladder, DDJD and just naturally have issues since giving birth I found your channel for help. This is a much more comprehensive and helpful tutorial. Thank you!

This is brilliant! I had a hyterectomy (best decision ever!) last year, and my gynaecologist has told me how important Kegels are for women in this scenario to strengthen the pelvic floor. I had been getting a weird vibrating (very annoying) in the pelvic area, and with these exercises they are no more. Thank you.

@@jerinahmboli2034 Replied but it seems to have vanished??? Within a few days the vibrations had died down considerably to be hardly noticeable. I now have to remind myself to do them, as you know when you feel better and you're busy, we forget what we should be doing. Whether it is actually caused by a weak pelvic floor or just anxiety which I get badly when I think there is something wrong with my body, I don't know. Anxiety can do terrible things not just to our minds but to our bodies. But... that being said - do them!!! :) And don't be like me and forget for days at a time.

Thanks for the valuable information. So many women have incontinence issues and don't talk about them. I did kegels (yes with your method) for years and years. I was never able to stop my stress /sports induced incontinence. Finally I was cured - it took only 6 weeks. I learned that I had to empty my bladder then create situations in which the leaks normally happened (jumping jacks or heavy lifting). Over time I could time the kegel just right with the anticipated leak during exercise. This developed muscle memory and strength. I am committed to helping others with their incontinence problems with my new workout channel for middle age women.

Excellent instruction. Clear, focused, serious, respectful, very informative. Also, the model and "diagram' were very helpful; I've never seen a model (or drawing or illustration) that was so educational about a woman's anatomy. Really helpful to "imagine" the features of the anatomy. Ms. Kenway is a good teacher and must be a terrific therapist to her clients. Thank you for this.

I learned English when I was around 5 or 6 years old and found your speech clear, intelligible, well modulated, well-paced & pleasant. Those who learn English later in life, can mitigate comprehension challenges by listening to a few sentences a few times. (Frankly, I find it hard to understand some Indian-accented English and sadly, many tech call center reps have very heavy Indian accents which brings to question the judgement of their recruiters.)

Your instruction is spot on! I finally understand how to do a Kegel! I was not given enough information and was not doing the exercise correctly. I’ve also started taking my blood pressure medicine in the morning and restricting my coffee intake to just very early in the morning. And stopping my liquid intake 3 hours prior to bed time. I unfortunately right now have to get up several times a night and it’s compromising everything in my life. And with this virus pandemic my immune system really concerns me. All the doctors can provide is their stupid drugs(don’t get me started on that subject!)I will keep in informed on my progress. Thank you 💕

I’m finally facing the need to do this work, should have been consistent at it much earlier. But in addition to all the health benefits of course, it just makes you feel, more alive! Crucial in what can be a lonely lockdown. And I’ve reached an age which I’ve defied in many ways, but this is something I’ve needed to continue to thrive. It’s never been explained so well!! Just started this yesterday and hopeful. No bladder problems, but I had a hysterectomy about 4 months ago and I get these weird vibrating sensations in my private parts that are just annoying. On researching, it is apparently caused by a muscle spasm as in an eye twitch. Weak pelvic floor apparently being the culprit. Really hoping these work as it can be very depressing. Thank you.

First of all, a huge thank you for your great videos, they are the clearest I have found on the subject ! I have 2 questions that I haven't found the answers to yet, I hope you can help me : 1) You often talk about contracting and then lifting the pelvic floor. How to feel the difference between these 2 actions ? I have the impression that when I am at the end of the contraction, when I try to lift, then it engages my lower abdominal muscles, as if my lower abdomen was pulling in slightly, is this normal ? 2) My second question is about exercise frequency. I really can't do it 3 times a day, but I can maintain it over time by only doing it 2 times a day. Is that enough? Should I do a little more repetition (x15 for example) for this to be really effective ? Many thanks in advance !
@michellephysio
@michellephysio 10 ай бұрын
@leicha5794 Hello there! 1. Yes this can engage the lower abs and this is very normal. There are 2 distinct actions, squeezing and lifting and both are important. Feeling a gentle tension in the lower abdominal area is normal 2. Good question, if you can manage twice and do increased reps with good form then I don’t see a problem provided you rest adequately between reps. This is better than doing insufficient exercise because strength and endurance training require progressive overload. The ‘official’ recommendations are 3 times daily for women, most likely to allow rest and then maximal effort during each set. Perhaps start with a few extra reps, increase gradually to maximise the benefit.

Hello! It is normal, but it is not exactly right. With time you'll start to differentiate all the muscles better, until then try to not overdo it. Me personally was recommended to do mild kegels without adding any additional reps to existing until I figure out how to tighten only lower parts.

The anatomical model helped me visualize the target areas well. I have fairly strong pelvic floor muscles; I'm looking to continue that through maintenance so the rolled-up towel isn't something I need. However, I can definitely see how those just starting out with Kegels could use it to make sure their technique is correct. Great info, Michelle, thanks!

Ms Henway, Thank you for the time you have allocated to my query. Having just started your program. I have adopted the seated method. Squeezing has hard as I am able. Upon completion, and several hours after. I am very aware of a soreness. Within my Virginia. And have therefore become rather reluctant to complete the suggested sets. I can only assume that i am preforming the technique incorrectly. Would you therefore be kind enough to clarify. What I am failing to grasp.

Nice to confirm I’ve been doing mine correctly. I forgot about them until my bladder started leaking after I thought I was finished emptying it. Within 3 weeks I noticed improvements and now have very little dribbling. The only thing I need to do is back off from holding my contractions. Through your video I learned I’ve probably been holding for too long. I’ve been holding 20 to 30 seconds, release for 10, then 20 to 30 more seconds hold for a total of 3 times. I do mine all at once rather than throughout the day. Sound right to you? Thank you for sharing. Blessings to you from a new and grateful subscriber.

@Sara Herrero definitely not necessary to practice these with Kegel balls. Some women find that using kegel balls gives them some feedback about using the correct lift and squeeze action but I suggest that beginners start without using Kegel balls.
