Thank you for sharing. The labour and delivery has me so nervous especially the induction process. Glad to see you were able to keep your pump on the whole time. I will be speaking with my obgyn Monday and state that it is part of my birth plan to keep my pump on the whole time. I don't feel comfortable having others especially if they are not an endocronlogist managing my insulin especially when I had a very bad experience at a hospital once and they managed it improperly. I am also afraid someone will accidently overdo the insulin not understanding what they are doing. I will be definitely not be consenting to an IV. The pump has so many fail safes and I read a study that moms that stay on the pump during delivery have much better control than IV. Thanks again for sharing and helping to ease my mind.❤❤

Congratulations! My first pregnancy with my 1 year old son I was induced at 38 weeks. I was in labor for 38 hours and pushed for 4. He was born a perfect 7lbs 4oz but his head was in the 99th percentile. We recently miscarried at almost 9 weeks and hope to get my body healthy for another pregnancy. Hi Michelle. I wish I found your channel before I had my first born. I had a traumatic time with my labour and delivery. My Endo team didn’t have enough time to prepare me or notes for my midwives and doctors during my L&D, as I was admitted pretty quickly after finding out I had preeclampsia at 36+4. I had my son exactly 37w. They ended up getting rid of my insulin pump and using their big bulky mechanical insulin pump on one arm and other arm for emergency use. The BP machine. i also had the epidural early on 2cm dilated. Which made me completely bed bound. Which ended in an emergency c-section. To my disappointment… This time with my second I am doing more research and wanting more support. I want to be able to get up if I need too instead of being restrained for 24+hrs. I’m going to try follow this up with my Endo team so the correct information is given to my midwives and doctors at the time of L&D. I want to use my own insulin pump this time and hold off on the epidural until closer to delivery. I want to be freee to help move my labour process along faster as I only got to 5cm dilation by 27h mark ending in C-section. Baby was in distress and had the cord around his neck 4 times. 😣😞 this time I really want to be mobile in hopes it gets baby in a better position and no cord wrapping!!! Please pray for my L&D to be successful and end in a VBAC. I would be so so happy. I want to enjoy and remember my birth story, NOT have 0 memory after having a c-section. I really don’t remember much, they drugged me hardcore to the point I fell asleep. Oh please pray my baby makes it through and we end in a successful VBAC and we are both healthy and happy x 🙏❤

I know this video is a year old but I needed SO MUCH! Just one question (and I hope you can reply soon since I’m going to be induce this Friday 9/8 😅) did they allow you to make skin-to-skin with your baby once she was out? Did they took her away? I would love to have the chance of having skin-to-skin with my baby girl but I don’t know if they’ll allow it 😢 (btw I’ve had T1D for 30yrs, this is my first baby and my diabetes hasn’t been better than during pregnancy with TIR of 90% and a recent A1C 5.3, so diabetes management hasn’t been an issue during my pregnancy at all)

Welcome back! I just started reading that T1 and pregnancy book on your recommendation. I think it is a really great resource, but I feel a bit uncomfortable with some of the non-substantiated "pseudo-science" they mention re: avoiding gluten/dairy while pregnant, and not exposing kids to gluten/dairy for 3 years to lower risk of developing T1D. As I only just started reading it, do you find that type of rhetoric continues throughout the book, or is it only in the beginning? Just curious your opinion as you seem to have very sound judgement!
@MichelleLord
@MichelleLord 2 жыл бұрын
100% agree with you on that! I did not like how anti-gluten they are! I just ignored those parts and focused more on the blood sugar management aspect of the book! That type of rhetoric is definitely more at the beginning of the book during the “preparing for pregnancy” sections!

I have just found your channel while looking for videos about having a pump during pregnancy. I'm currently 26 weeks pregnant with my 3rd baby and my sugars seem to be crazy lately. I'm considering a pump but I wasnt sure if it was a good idea or not. I have the dexcom g6 glucose monitor already and I was worried that maybe 2 diabetes devices on my body would be overwhelming. I've never used a pump but I really want my blood sugars to be more stable and my doctor has previously recommended that I use a pump. Any tips or advice you have for using a pump during pregnancy would be much appreciated. Congratulations on your baby girl, I am also having a girl.
@MichelleLord
@MichelleLord 2 жыл бұрын
Congrats on your pregnancy! I loved having a pump while pregnant because my insulin needs were constantly changing and the pump makes it easy to adjust doses :) . I felt the exact same way as you about being overwhelmed with things on my body though lol. I held off getting a pump for years because of this, then I held off getting a Dexcom as well. However, I am SO glad I finally went for it. The Dexcom + pump combo is a game changer (at least it was for me). It has made my life a lot easier. You've probably already seen this vid, but I made this to show how I wore my pump + Dexcom while pregnant: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pJjHaWiheM-nhNU

No! Many people with T1D have had healthy pregnancies without Dexcom. Think of all the people who had babies before Dexcom was even around :) However, it DOES really help with blood sugar management and give peace of mind.

Congratulations. So just curious about what the protocol is for your daughter. My son was informed that due to the fact that he has diabetes if he decided to have children (which he has decided against) that they have a higher chance of getting diabetes compared to a child of a non diabetic. Were you told that as well? Was Eden checked for diabetes at birth and does she have to be checked on a regular basis? Enjoy your sweet girl, they grow up too fast.

The chance is like 6%. Sure it’s higher than a non-diabetics but I wouldn’t not have kids just for that reason.

@MichelleLord 2 жыл бұрын
Hmm no, I was never told that! Here are the statistics for the risk of a child developing T1D. You can see that it varies based on the sex of the parent with T1D and the age at which they have a baby. For a female parent over the age of 25, the risk of the baby developing T1D is the same as anyone without diabetes. www.webmd.com/diabetes/diabetes-type-1-genetics
