I'm always amazed at the amount of drink cups you guys in the states have and use .😅 I don't think they are such a thing here in the UK , but could be wrong 😂 I'd definitely put all the cereals in airtight containers . 😮

I am very thankful I am past kids in the house.. my baby is 29, LOL. So it is not so hard for me in that area of life. I do they to go through the pantry and larder a few times a year. And I just went through the sideboard and next is the island! Be careful with committing, it can become overwhelming. I was a mom and wife in the Air-force. And exciting lire. No doubt.. but busy none the less!

Check your spice cabinet! I had them lay eggs in my sesame seed and poppy seed containers. I now store those in little ziploc sandwich bags to prevent those moths from getting into those. They don't seem to like other spices, just the small seeds.

We had pantry months a few years ago, it what prompted me to start putting everything in airtight containers. I freeze all grain type stuff before it goes into containers. We found the web stuff and worm all in a jar of sesame seeds.

My mom was room mom. She would do snacks and things for parties. One of the snacks was cheese and crackers. She used cookie cutters to make different shapes for cheese. We had hearts for Valentine’s, stars for Christmas, etc.

Great job on both pantry and refrigerator 👏👏 when my daughter was young I did it all Girl Scout leader, PTA secretary. It was a lot but the time spent was well worth it. I felt accomplished and it set a good example for my daughter. She is now an excellent mother who is also involved with her children’s school ❤

If you have nuts like almonds or walnuts in your pantry, they are notorious for having pantry weevils that turn in moths. I just dealt with that yesterday. I knew that nuts and grains/cereals do that from past experience, but I forgot that the almonds were in there.

Re: volunteering. Yes, it is important for our children to see us helping, and is especially good if they can come and help too. BUT, if they can't help or if it's going to take away from spending quality time with one or both of them, you have to ask yourself, 'Is it worth it?" You're also right in that over-committing can be a real problem. It's all well and good to volunteer for specific one time events, but don't be afraid to say 'No.', especially to more general long-time commitments. You could quickly find yourself becoming the 'go to person' when no one else wants to do something. That is exhausting and frustrating! -- jmho. I hope this helps. 💛

Hey Michelle, Happy Thursday. I love watching your declutter/cleaning videos while you talk with us about different things. ❤ I love your real life content and how your kitchen won’t alway be perfect because you get busy and forget to tackle things. ❤ thank you for the heads up with the pantry moths, luckily I haven’t had that problem. My favorite part of cleaning my kitchen is reorganizing my pantry and making it look better than it did before. I tend to keep my pantry stocked the most compared to my fridge and freezer. ❤ My freezer is the next space I keep organized and my fridge is the least because I use more freezer products than fridge products. I volunteer a couple times a month at a thrift store for my church. I love helping them out and volunteering 3-9 hours a month. ❤
@MichelleOMalley711 Жыл бұрын
Thank you! Definitely love an organized pantry! 3-9 hours per month sounds manageable! I bet they are glad to have you help!

I used the bentgo boxes last year for my kids school lunches and I just watched a lot of KZbin videos to get some ideas so that I knew I was sending things that would fill them up but also be nutritionally appropriate. I made their lunches and water bottles the night before and just put the entire bentgo box in the fridge after getting them ready. Then in the morning they just took out their box and water bottle and put it in their lunch boxes. My kids are older so obviously that last part may not work for you and you’d have to pack them in the morning but everything else was nice to have done and ready for them! Also doin it in the evening I felt like I had more time and it was after they went to bed so I’d make them fun and cool and write little notes and really take my time making them special ❤

Thoroughly enjoyed this video. Great motivation!!! We’re from South Africa so my babies are half way through the school year…they’ll be going to Grade 7 and Grade 9 in 2024!! (School year starts in January and ends in December). We’ve been homeschooling since covid but before then I used to pack their lunches the night before to try and make the mornings less stressful.

Heyyy boo, when Logan started kindergarten, I think I was more nervous than he was 😅 but he did great and loved it. This year Logan will be starting 6th grade middle school 😢 they grow up so fast!! So at Home Goods I bought a 5 drawer system for him for clothes. On Sunday, he/we would get a pair of shorts, shirt, socks and underwear for everyday. That way he would be good to go for the week for clothes. Now, lunch, he/we would get his lunch together the night before and just put the lunch bag in the refrigerator and just take out and put a ice pack in it and he would be good to go. I never did volunteer because my work schedule with working till 7 every night was night working for me. I hope y’all have a great weekend and good luck to the girls this year!! ❤

@@MichelleOMalley711 he starts Monday! My mommy nerves are kicking in full gear! 🥹 the clothes drawer organizer started in 1st grade and has done well. And I’m not rushing to figure out what to get him at 6am! Also, if I’m behind on laundry that gives him his 5 day that I know he’s good. 😊

I volunteered at my sons school when he went into 2nd grade. I ended up being the PTA president for 10 years and I was the room parent for his classroom. He went to a small Christian school. This is my first year in ten years where I’m not working on PTA, computer classes and lunchroom. Boy am I enjoying not having to do all of that. I think I paid my dues. Lol

Those pantry moths can also come in your pasta. I just had those little nasties in some pasta in my pantry. I put the pasta in a glass container and watched it for a week or so to see if they were alive. And they were. So I tossed that and three other boxes of pasta that I had that were infested.

Fabulous before and afters Michelle! You always work so hard. I think you can volunteer without spreading yourself thin. I use to volunteer 1 morning a week in my kids classroom until they reached 3 rd grade and I went back to work full time. I also would try and attend PTA meetings and offer help with things I could.
