I am now 69. I have 2 sons who are 43 and 42. I saw myself in you at the beginning of this video. With the puzzles, I used to spend hours putting pieces together then one day I just put the board and pieces in a plastic bag and left them to put together. I feel you and all the toy clutter. Enjoy your videos so much. Have a great Christmas and enjoy your small children. Soon they will be adults and you will miss those times. ❤️

Definitely enjoy them when they are young. I miss my babies. They are knocking on 30s now. Dang i remember counting puzzles and other toys a lot. Putting things back together. I played with toys a lot.

Hi Michelle, I loved your video. I have been going through toys for my middle grandchild. She lives with me and we have so much fun playing with toys but new ones are coming in so we have been going through her toys. Some of the specialty puzzles and learning toys we give to teachers. We try to find families that need. She is really good about taking care of her toys. I do not like to give them to Goodwill and then they charge the poor outrageous prices. People don’t realize how much Goodwill makes on their donations. It’s ridiculous when it was given to them for free. I understand they donate but I don’t feel they donate as much as they say. I also moved six months ago and since I work full-time away from the home, it has been really hard, but I do have my home set up. I just have to go to boxes of stuff yet that are in our garage so I am only able to do it part time , but the good thing is I am giving myself through the summer. I plan to retire this year so I can’t wait to go through and make a yes n no decision. I felt I was one of those that went through things often but my garage proves different. 😅😅😅 I do have her room organized with the toys that she is keeping in nice bins and pictures on labels so she can see where they go. I also go to clothes for her and I have a couple of friends that have children younger than her so that works out. I have two other grand daughters that I do buy clothes for also. One is older and the other one is same size eventho she is 9 months younger. She gets her sisters hammy down, but I always have to get her for five sets of clothes in the summer and the winter then their mom just gets rid of the stained clothes. I fold clothes with the top in the bottom. Kinda together so they stand up Kamari Style😅 I do believe in setting goals, not saying resolution for the new year. Thanks for the great video

I just had to come on here and comment. When my now 31 year old son was 3 he wore a Chicago Bulls Michael Jordan jersey and shorts and cowboy boots. It was trying but now sweet memories. Also, we live near Houston, he just loved Michael Jordan.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year Michelle!!! I always appreciate decluttering videos that are realistic!! Setting a goal to fill a box just because is not realistic but getting rid of items you don't need and if it fills the box is!! TY for always being 100% - that's one of the main reasons I watch..

I would say decluttering is like staying hydrated. Everyone should do it, but everyones flavor preference is going to be different. What helps me in regards to deciding to get rid of something is I have seen people have a bin labeled 6 months or a year or something depending on what it is and they have the date on it so however long after that date they can know if they really need it. An exception is if its expensive to buy again and you know you use it every 2 years or something like that. Like my paternal family has a reunion for thanskgiving every 2 years and they usually go somewhere colder than NC where most of us are. So if they go sledding or skiing and dont want to pay for equipment, they might keep it.

It’s taken a couple years to get all family members on board but the biggest thing that helps us is we ask for experiences over toys for our kids for Christmas and birthdays. A lot of people were on board the first year but some took a few. It keeps down drastically on the toys. Santa usually brings a toy and then mommy and daddy give the big Christmas gift which is usually an experience. We’ve done GWL, took her to NYC to the American girl and she got an American girl doll, last year we went to Disney on ice and she got an Elsa costume and coordinating Christmas ornament. We had another child this year so we’re staying home but they’re getting a trampoline! I can’t wait to see her face! She talks about every single experience every year! We started this with her at 4 she is now 8. I declutter year round as I go. Best practice for me is for the kids I declutter and box up as they outgrow. BUT I get rid of an entire size group at a time. So if most of the 6 month clothes are too small they ALL get put away and the next size comes out. It limits having to do the task twice. Merry Christmas !

I’m sad to hear that competitive parenting and competitive house care still exist. Ladies-do you. You are the main character in your life-stop letting other people compare themselves to you and stop comparing yourself to others. Find your own way and revel in your life!

I struggle to declutter because of financial reasons. People say if you haven't used something for a certain amount of years, then you should get rid of it. I have in the past used alot of things after years of not using them, and then I'll say to myself, "had I thrown that out years ago, I may not have been able to afford to buy another one now". I also see people who might have six of something but only use four so they get rid of two, but things break and then what do you do as you got rid of the two you weren't using, I just don't understand that, wouldn't you keep the two your not using incase one breaks! I'm confused and I'm a person who hates clutter. Somethings are just easier to get rid of then others! ❤ I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas and a safe New Year. 🎅🎄❤❤🎉🥳
