I had always wondered what the permitivity terms meant. Thank you for clarifying that. Amazing that the two are related to speed of light!

At 1:47: "[Mu sub-naught & epsilon sub-naught] are properties of free space out there in the universe. The whole universe is filled with space, and it [magnetic permeability & electrostatic permittivity] controls how fast magnetic fields and electric fields can interact with each other and ... with charges and current."

How can be scientist like you have only few thousands of viewer and other silly peoples have a millions of viewers? That is absurd!!!
@MichelvanBiezen6 жыл бұрын
You make an interesting observation. Those other sites are not silly. They offer entertainment which is valuable as well. But it takes a lot less effort to be entertained than to work through a difficult math or science problem, and therefore there will be more views on those sites. We can take solace in knowing that many students are helped by our videos and as more people find them, the views will go up.

That is something we still have to cover. It is on the list. (Not sure when we can get to it).

I think we know that there is electric flux around an electric charge & its density decreases outward as per inverse sq. law, although we don't yet know what this flux is made of. Do we have any evidence of a force field around single charge? Presesnce of a force field is established by using a test charge. By bringing in a test charge we are actually allowing flux of test charge to interact/interfere with flux of main charge. This only proves that interaction or interference between fluxes produce force fields.

That is definitely one way to look at it. 🙂

amazing but Where this Relations come from? Why E=Kq/r² and B=u I /( r . 2Pi ) ? Why one of this Related to r and other one related to r² why B related to 1 / 2pi ??
@MichelvanBiezen6 жыл бұрын
All your questions are answered in the playlists leading up to the one on Maxwell's equations. May I suggest you study that material first before tackling Maxwell's equations.

E=K*q/r^2 has r^2 because the field spreads out in 3-dimensional space, from a point source of the field, the charge q. If you write K in the "OOFPEZ" form, as 1/(4*pi*epsilon0), then you will see that 4*pi*r^2 appears in the denominator, indicating the area of a sphere. B=mu*I/(2*pi*r) has r on its own, because it is the way a magnetic field spreads out in 3-dimensional space from a linear source of the magnetic field, a long straight wire. Notice that 2*pi*r is the circumference of the circle at a distance r from a wire.

How they calculate epsil (Permittiviteit) and the other
@MichelvanBiezen4 жыл бұрын

So it’s not a speed at all. But a rate of induction, of the MEDIUM.
@MichelvanBiezen7 ай бұрын
It is stil the speed at which the energy moves through space, but the actual mechanism is still not quite understood. It does appear that space puts a limit at how fast the electric field fluctuations and the magnetic field fluctuations can move through space, related to the permittivity and permeability of free space.
@juanmf7 ай бұрын
@@MichelvanBiezen what if not all energy moves through space? If you define space as magnetism, that has a speed limit. Being ether rarefactions. But compressions, that can propagate a lot faster. If some energy travels through longitudinal compressions, that would be quicker.

How did we get the constants ε0 and the other one
@MichelvanBiezen5 жыл бұрын
The permittivity and permeability of free space were experimentally determined. Note that Maxwell determined that 1/sqrt(Eo x Uo) equals the speed of light.

@@MichelvanBiezen what led Maxwell too calculate that? As in what are the steps in the derivation?

The speed of light does not depends from the speed of the observed from the observer. Why ? What this means ?
@TheSalto6610 жыл бұрын
Means that the observer is the source of the vibration that when is reflected back to the source is called and his perceived how light ?
@TheSalto6610 жыл бұрын
The light is the clock used from the observer to build the simulation of his universe ( the matrix ) ?
@TheSalto6610 жыл бұрын
This means that the observer is trapped inside his toroidal electromagnetic field ?
@MichelvanBiezen10 жыл бұрын
Regardless of how fast the source of the light is moving or how fast the observer is moving the speed of light is always the same for every observer
