Is the sidereal year Actually the tropical year and the the tropical year is the sidereal year?

They are very close in dureation, but they are not exactly the same. The sidereal year is the time it takes the Earth to go around the Sun relative to the fixed stars. A tropical year is the time it takes the Earth to go around the Sun from on vernal equinox to the next vernal equinox. The sidereal year is about 20.4 minutes longer.
