I feel like many vtubers use a certain type of enunciation that are very similar to each other. Tbh, I originally noticed this manner of speaking when many smaller indie vtubers started making me think I was hearing Veibae all the time. Its not so much an accent that seems to come from any specific region, its like people are trying to adopt some pseudo valley girl vtuber sound.

Oh yeah, the ShyLily-Veibae-Nyanners accent. Yeah, it’s everywhere. And it’s not a common German accent, I know several Germans (close to me) and they don’t have that accents, they could, but when American or Asian Vtubers mimic that accents it becomes sus to me 🫠

My family-in-law is German, I've talked with many Germans in my life since I live like 15 min away from Germany by car and I've done school trips as well. I have NEVER heard that kind of accent from people speaking german or dutch or from any other European person I know. Not saying by any means that their accent is necessarily fake, it could be real. But I also think that there is a huge trend with that accent since the 3 Vtuber I mentionned are very succesful and praised for their voice/accent. Too many people weirdly have that EXACT kind of voice and intonation and justify it with "I'm from Germany" or any other country nearby, feels odd to me but I might be crazy :')

@@toms7219 "same" thing, it's not only about the accent, it's about the "softness" added (to me) in the voice, the tone, a bit like when the "e-girl voice" was a thing or the "UwU cute chibi voice" 😅 And I didn't say Vei fakes her way to speak at all, especially since she was one of the first ones (with Nyanners) we heard speaking "that way". I'm talking about the multitude of Vtubers that appeared since the last 2 years with a similar accent+tone to ShyLily/Vei/Nyanners. Moreover, I don't get why only Vtubers would speak like that all of a sudden when I heard no irl streamer or youtuber having that accent until now. I might have missed some and be wrong but for now that feels weird that only Vtubers have that kind of accent/tone. To me, that way of speaking is proper to the 3 Vtubers I mentioned first, but I'm pretty sure a lot of other Vtubers are trying to mimic that and some are smart enough to try to be subtle about it by adding a bit of personality to it. Maybe a few genuinely speak like that, who knows? That's possible yeah! But maybe not the WAVE of new Vtubers that appeared with that voice, especially when they aren't European and can't even use it as a reason 😗 Let's not forget Vtubing is kind of based on voice acting if you want to be entertaining and keep the attention of the viewers :3 And if people succeed by mimicking, good for them! I just hope they admit that they took inspiration just like Michi once said that she took inspo for her way to move with her model! @@liselecika You're not crazy. I'm German and I hear a lot of Germans speak English. As I said outside of vtubing I never heard that accent. So far every time it was mentioned this was a specifically German accent in any video to try and explain why it sounds the way it sounds the comments are usually full of Germans saying they never heard this accent as well. That's not to say they are lying or faking the way they talk or that it is bad in any way. It just has nothing to do with being German. ( If I had to describe the "accent", to me it kinda sounds like they are pressing the side edges of their tongue to their teeth while speaking?)
