Here on October 1, 2024 in the Washington D.C. Area. First heard Michigan and Smiley on a trip to Ft. Lauderdale in the early '90s.... I found a reggae radio station and I set a blank cassette tape to just record as long as it would. Diseases was the track that blew my mind. Thanks for sharing!

Michigan and Smiley had impeccable timing and thoughtful lyrics....Big Up!

Dude, rap is so far from reggae it's like night and day. The beat, people and message totally different. Rap is based on harm reggae is based on peace
@cosmicwisdom9999 жыл бұрын
+playinrag Actually both music are very close.....if u go back 70s, u will see that rap came from early reggae
@cosmicwisdom9999 жыл бұрын
+playinragz early rap was also conscious
@playinragz9 жыл бұрын
Blonde did a rap song in the 70s. A little different then the 90s. It's all good though , except rap. Comparing rap to reggae is like comparing blues to heavy metal.
@playinragz9 жыл бұрын
Rap is poets with music. Corny , is my take. The message is beyond good. To glorify poverty is hypocritical considering everyone who hits it big moves. Gangster rappers move to white neighborhoods ASAP. What it ends up being is , " keep yourself poor while I live the good life suckers" that's rap!

This is just so great and is proof that reggae is ten times better when done with actual musicians who actually know how to play their instruments. You can't get this sound with just sampling
