As a Penn State fan, can't say anything except that it looked like a match up between a Division 1 elite college football team and a bunch of highschool kids. We thoroughly got spanked and deservedly so. We don't deserve to be in the CPF contention, far from it. We don't deserve to be in top 15 either. I'm just hoping now that we get to 10-2 but I'll be damn surprised if we do. At this rate, i won't be shocked if Minnesota upsets us at home and Maryland too. All this talent tantamounts to bloody shit when our play calling is awful and our Qback inept. We are afraid to make the leap from a mediocre football team to a decent one, forge elite. Michigan did to us exactly what it was supposed to which is, show us our place. Good for them and I hope they go on and beat the buckeyes. That'll be a great contest to watch.

It’s all on the O line offensively you can’t do crap play calling if they can’t stop a fly. They are really young but talented on the left side FR and a R-FR best IOL guy in the country and a top 10 OT coming in next year. All the talent we got in the skill position’s hopefully this new O line talent will kick in by next year or the year after. This team has been rebuilding since the Barkley Mcsorely era which has been pretty common for this program. 2 or 3 10-11 win seasons and you rebuild for a few years and do it again.

I look at that schedule for PSU and I see a 9 win team at worst, likely 10. Good team with some deficiencies. Which leads me to Michigan, a team that just throttled that 9 or 10 win team. Very solid performance from a team that, honestly, made enough errors to make the score look a lot closer than it was for almost 3 full quarters. Halfway through the 3rd it was a 7pt game and PSU had it at the Michigan 39. Then it fully fell apart on them, the weight finally broke them. Michigan is better offensively due to the QB position. McCarthy is McNamara with a little more of everything. They're putting the same amount on his plate mentally (not too much, tbh) and McCarthy can throw it better, run it better and generally looks more comfortable at the position. Going forward, can he win a game where the opponent is able to keep the Michigan run game from winning it alone? We may find out in 2 weeks, their next game. Defensively, a little less athletic but a bit more even across the board. Both edges are a drop from Hutchinson/Ojabo but the interior is better than 2021. The LBs are down their best (Hill-Green) but a bit more athletic than last year while not as comfortable all around. The secondary is a little less athletic due to losing Dax Hill but those that returned are a bit more comfortable in the system this year. OSU will be a tough matchup. I don't quite see them winning that game but I said the same last year. They just need to get by MSU first and worry about that when it comes. MSU is a mediocre but talented team that will come to play because they always do.

@@Fed_Express I feel your pain but how can u give up 400+ yards rushing in a game & say that the defense isn’t the problem? 🤔
@Fed_Express2 жыл бұрын
@@Mystery_Man84 Because when the opposition plays 42 minutes on the field it will eventually wear your defense out. Defense played below par, for sure. But in the the first half, defense was out on field for 23 out of 30 minutes in which they denied Michigan 2 TDs and got one of our own. The only reason why we were even in the game by half time was the defense. In the second half we needed the offense to come through which never happened and defense by that time was gassed out. I understand your position but my assessment is that 400+ yards was the ramification of them being tired rather than a cause of defense's ineptness. It was the offense which bloody sucked and it then became anemic.

Nothing against Michigan but I think PSU is far rom a quality football team. Going into this season the ceiling was 8 wins. Most people expected 1-2 losses BEFORE the Michigan game. But they go 5-0 against bad opponents (except maybe Purdue and that came down to the wire) and all the sudden are in the national conversation. Shouldn't have been a top 10 team. At best a top 20 at the moment. Way too young and the coaches don't develop talent well so underdeveloped. Usually by this time in the season the freshman are in their groove. PSU never gets into a groove and ALWAYS falls apart in big games. There's no fire - no energy. One of the only football teams that gets punched in the mouth once and can't answer to adversity. Maybe its because the starting QB is more worried about his NIL Agency than putting the time into the team. All in all - hats off to Michigan; that was total dominance. I think a lot of PSU fans are scratching their heads at how uncompetitive it was. Not what you expect after consecutive top recruiting class and hiring a name like Manny Diaz. Hoping Allar can execute this offense because its anemic against teams with a pulse. Too many plays result in being behind the chains - no wonder they're always last on 3rd down %.
