JJ has always been at the top or NFL draft boards. It is just that "Media Experts" have not been paying attention until the last 4 weeks.
@aserodriguez1425
@aserodriguez1425 Ай бұрын
No he wasn't!! I'm fact it was the exact opposite and He was always considered a day two pick, up until lately and people are starting to see why. Harbaugh had an agenda for him going earlier he's sitting there at #5 and it makes his pick significantly more valuable if 4 qbs go first then 5 becomes the defacto 1st overall pick since you get to pick any of the best players available from any position. There were already 3 QBs taken 1,2,3 on everybody's boards but you add JJ and it becomes 4 and chargers have the 5th. Also there are many articles and even "the media" is starting to catch on to what's going on, Harbaugh was pumping JJ up all over the place for that reason and can they can trace around the time where JJ started going up boards to when Harbaugh started publicly and privately telling everybody and anybody who would listen how great jj was and how he's the clear best QB in the draft and how there was no doubt he's the best QB he had ever had. When people were asked why they thought JJ was going to go early or why he should go early and how they started hearing that everybody noticed that it all tied back to Harbaugh

@@aserodriguez1425 Reminder: "Media Draft Experts" are NOT the same as actual NFL GMs. If they were, they would 5-20x their salary to be GMs. GMs have had JJ on their radar for at least 2 years. It is good to NOT get hoodwinked into thinking a player is "moving up", when all that happened is that the "experts" did not pay attention to that player until that last 3 weeks.

JJ spent the offseason leading to the pro day on the tough plays you are talking about. Both this the fades and intermediate timing stuff like tge deep out. He hit 58 of the 60 passes too. So, he knows were he is weak and will work extremely hard on correcting it. As far as the reading the safties on the levels and other concepts, i think that will come as well. He was a 20 year old QB who didnt get all that much reps.

Take a look at his 2022 deep balls. All season he was overthrowing his receivers who were wide open deep, and getting it closer and closer but not completing them. He was having them stretch out and hit them in the fingers, but just a shade out of reach. Then in the Ohio State game he completed some huge deep balls against cover 0 because he started underthrowing them so the receiver could adjust. I think that's what was going on here - it was a coaching point he adopted and he probably didn't work on it much because it just wasn't a big part of Michigan's game in 2023.

Just not true. The OL was a step down this year, particularly in pass pro. Facts , he's a second day guy, only reason he went up boards of because of Harbaugh trying to make him go early because it makes his pick at 5 more valuable
@jona.scholt4362
@jona.scholt4362 Ай бұрын
The only reason he went up was because Harbaugh hyped him up? There is no way you seriously believe just because Harbaugh says one thing that all of the sudden the scouts and GMs all change their opinions. That's absolutely crazy. He's shooting up boards because he's good. He's got tools and he's 5 years younger than Nix and 4 years younger than Penix. Just imagine if he got to play in college when he was 24 or 25 instead of 20. He'd look even better than he already does.
@mr.bojiggity4240
@mr.bojiggity4240 Ай бұрын
@jona.scholt4362 JJ is a decent QB currently. Nothing is stopping him from staying another season and polishing up his “tools” to his advantage as Nix and Penix took. He is deciding to leave early. JJ will be thrown in a position where he won’t get to develop truly and these inadequacies will prevail. He is def a 2nd day guy.
@jona.scholt4362
@jona.scholt4362 Ай бұрын
@@mr.bojiggity4240 What are "these inadequacies"? I'm also curious if you agree with the original OP that he's only going to be picked in the first round because Harbaugh is hyping him up.
@mr.bojiggity4240
@mr.bojiggity4240 Ай бұрын
@jona.scholt4362 I personally don’t agree fully with OP, but to a degree Harbaugh is/was the only one initially hyping him. JJ had questions going into early draft talk. Speaking strictly as a passer. From my observations he struggles to read a defense, and God forbid it’s disguised. He is inconsistent in his throws. And you can see he is not asked to make progression reads but is told who to throw to. Leading to him staring down targets. If the first two reads aren’t there he’s running.(which yes you want that out of a QB) however he isn’t thoroughly tested on this because he was overshadowed by a run game. Admittedly no one knows what he can fully do due to the scheme. But in games where he is relied on to win with his arm he can’t and the run game is leaned on heavily. That’s just some of what stands out to me. I’m not saying he is not worth drafting but he certainly is not an early first rounder. Again I believe if he stayed another year to polish and refine, there would be almost no questions around him. In short he is shooting himself cause he’s deciding to leave early. 2022 annd 2023 isn’t enough to solidify him. But good thing I’m not getting paid for my opinion.

If drafted he very much might be the next DJ, (ruined rookie QB) as NYGs have such a stale offense RN and lower mid tier at best O line. I very much feel like NYGs should grab an early WR in the first, then maybe a guard or QB in the second. NY simply doesn’t have an offense that can support a rookie QBs growth, they should wait and build. But I do believe in 5 years and people look back on this draft he’ll be considered the best qb that came out of it. As long as he doesn’t go to a garbage team. That’s what ruins AB’s more than their own skill set. Patriots will ruin whomever they draft. Same with redskins. I believe Chicago also. Minnesota is the place all the qb’s want to go. @@j.r.3945 I’ve never seen anyone miss on more information than you. They are the same age but Maye was born in August of 2002 and JJ was born in January of 2003. JJ threw the second hardest recorded throw at the combine behind Milton. Also JJ only lost like 4 games SINCE highschool. That sounds like a winner to me. Please don’t speak if your facts aren’t correct

@@dmizzel13 oh my bad they’re the same age oops and who cares about that dumb combine drill it literally shows next to nothing watch the tape drake maye can throw bombs he doesn’t have Josh Allen’s arm but he’s not far off. Jj just can’t do that. Not that he has a bad arm but it’s definitely not stronger than Mayes arm. And genuinely do not care about high school most guys in the league dominated in high school. As for college he just so happened to be on the best team in college last year they ran the ball on everyone and he didn’t even have to do much of anything. And half of what he did do was more because of Roman wilson than jj. There are so many things he does that he just couldn’t get away with in the nfl especially not on a giants team that doesn’t have much around him. And forget his processing like people rag on Drake maye being a slow processor which just isn’t true he just has more reads than most people jj missed reads kind of often given how little he actually threw the ball. The only thing I got wrong is jj and maye are the same age wow massive difference

@@j.r.3945 lol you came to correct what I said about JJ with false information. Drake Maye is a great prospect but Drake Maye also had a down year compared to the reason why he even got on the radars for the draft. Drake Maye showed more regression from last season to this season than JJ did as well. Yes I understand that people don’t care about highschool and what they did but that’s also apart of the problem. You will pass up on a winner because you want the guy that puts up better numbers (also the guy who couldn’t lead them to anything more than 9 wins in a season in a weak conference when he was supposed to be the number 1 or 2 guy coming into the season. For crying out loud I watched Michael Penix Jr be a horrible QB in the big 10 for years until he found the right offensive fit that allowed him to show off his skill set.

@@dmizzel13 Do you know how many pitchers have thrown 98mph fast balls, and have no control over the pitch, or couldn't throw a curve or slider. Point being, throwing the hardest as QB, is probably 5th to 7th on preferable QB stats!

JJ was always considered a day two pick, possibly day 3 up until mid recently and people are starting to see why. Harbaugh had an agenda for him going earlier he's sitting there at #5 and it makes his pick significantly more valuable if 4 qbs go first. If 4qbs go 1,2,3,4 then 5 becomes the defacto 1st overall pick since you get to pick any of the best players available from ANY AND EVERY OTHER position. There were already 3 QBs taken 1st 2nd and 3rd overall on everybody's boards so all you have to to is make sure everyone adds JJ and it becomes 4 and Guess who has the 5th pick? Yes Harbaughs chargers have the 5th pick. Ain't that a coincidence. Also there are many articles and even "the media" is starting to catch on to what's going on, Harbaugh was pumping JJ up all over the place for that very reason and there was a correlation from the time where JJ started going up boards to when Harbaugh started publicly and privately telling everybody and anybody who would listen about how great JJ was and how he's clearly the best QB in the draft and how there was no doubt he's the best QB he had ever had and allkinds of crazy comments. When people were asked for more substantial reasons why they thought JJ was going to go early or why he should go early and more importantly how they started hearing about that and everybody started to notice that it all traced back to Harbaugh. His schemes seem to be working but to know if IT worked we have to wait until draft night

Wrong. I do not agree. Why would Harbaugh say stuff that would make him look bad. Coach was an NFL qb. He said it all season. I guess you weren't listening.

What you don’t see in his tape is the natural Leadership, Maturity, Charisma, Coolness, and Intelligence, and in the long run, those things make or break quarterbacks, especially in NYC. If the Giants pick this guy, a big part of it will be their positive assessment of these intangibles, and we are just going to have to trust that Daboll really likes the mental makeup. He’s got the arm talent, the decisiveness, pocket awareness, athleticism, and scramble ability. These are the things you can’t easily fix so it’s a big deal that these traits are there. For someone so young, I don’t see anything that Daboll can’t fix pretty easily. A lot of the inaccurate throws seem to relate to his hips rotating a bit much at release since he’s trying to use his lower body a bit too much to power the ball, but that’s easy to fix. Also, what I see in most of the ‘bad’ reads, is that he’s getting stuck on the designated first option and is not taking the more open second option or check down, again, easy to fix. I don’t see any significantly better options at QB in the ‘25 draft. If JJ waited till next year, he’d most likely be QB1. I can’t see a better option for the Giants to draft this year or next since the chances of us trading up to the top three this year is about zero. Schoen knows that the absolute most important part of a rebuild is a drafted QB, that frees up tons of money to get, for example, the WR1 we may pass on this year. It’s NOT that he’s worried about getting fired, it’s that he knows the importance of a drafting a QB in a build. It’s gotta be a high quality QB, but it doesn’t have to be a perfect one. For heck sake, we won a Super Bowl with Hostetler. And don’t underestimate the Meditation. Meditation is mind training, and over time it makes your brain just work better. You’re less likely to get overwhelmed by emotion, you process better, and you can handle stress and pressure much better. It’s a big deal. And as for the wanting ‘more’ more in five or six years, that can come from the intangibles developing. If this guy is the leader and the winner that folks say he is, that mental strength is more valuable than anything. Just look at Prescott or Jackson, unbelievable traits but something’s lacking in the intangibles and it shows in the big games. That what makes picking a QB so hard, so hopefully Daboll makes the correct choice. BTW, if we take this guy, Wandell is gonna have a huge 2025 when JJ hits his stride.
