NCAA doesn't have sign stealing rules. They have rules about advanced scouting of opponents. This is where it gets tricky individuals associated with the program like coaches and analysts are involved and attended games then it is a violation. A fan recording games and information then giving it to Michigan isn't illegal. So it is really up to the NCAA's discretion but by rule they broke none. The investigation was initiated by OSU's head coach Ryan Day's brother who is a PI. Get your facts straight before presenting it. NCAA has nothing.

Things that have nothing to do with Michigan's success: (Yes, I'm being sarcastic) 1. Michigan has 19 players on roster that will likely play in the NFL. Talent doesn't matter and won't make your team better. 2. JJ McCarthy is the first 5 Star QB that Harbaugh has had at Michigan. He has the highest QBR OF ALL QB's in the NCAA. He isn't that good though--it is all an illusion. 3. Michigan's Offensive Line won the Joe Moore award for the best in the entire country. Offense and D-Lines have no impact on football games. 4. Michigan had more returning starters than any other team in the BIG Ten. Experience is just a trivial thing and doesn't impact winning. 5. Michigan has had a top 5 defense for 3 years in a row. This year Michigan is number 1 in defense for all of college football. Defensive Players don't actually win their one on one battles the offense just decides to not score on Michigan. 6. Michigan's team is a veteran team--this NEVER matters in football. 7. Sign stealing is 100 percent legal. However, if you obtain signs in person it make your team instantly unstoppable. No weight room needed & no talent is needed.

These are the current facts we know: -Michigan stole signs, as evidenced by laminated guides their coaches had (not illegal in of itself) -Michigan’s coordinators knew about it and made in-game adjustments using Stalions guidance. -Harbaugh specifically denied any knowledge of ILLEGAL and OFF CAMPUS sign stealing. He did not deny signs stealing in general. -Stalions purchased 35+ tickets to future Michigan opponents’ games and gave/sold them to others. -Ohio State notified TCU ahead of their playoff game that Michigan was stealing signs. -Ohio State submitted a formal question to the NCAA ahead of their playoff games asking if they could record the other playoff game in person. since this is not illegal, the NCAA said yes. It’s very important that we let allegations be allegations, rumors be rumors, and facts be facts. At this point, there is no public proof that Michigan broke any rules. It doesn’t look good, and there’s probably a lot more evidence we haven’t seen yet, but at this point it would be out of order to put a verdict on Michigan. For example, you might say “Stalions bought 35 tickets on an assistant salary??” And I would agree that it looks bad. But we don’t know for certain how he paid for those tickets, and what his reasoning for buying those tickets was. Just let due process take place.

I don't know if this video is old or just intentionally vague but it's not "unclear" who hired the PI Firm. It was crybaby Ryan Day (who is going to lose again and knows it), his brother literally works at the firm that was secretly hired to do the investigation. Also, the rescinded contract was proven to be false and in fact the opposite of the truth. Michigan stated yesterday not only have they not been rescinded but they have accelerated the contract! Harbaugh should be singing soon. And the way coaches, analysts and players switch schools, you’re a fool to think that your team signals aren’t everywhere. Teams have to change the signals week to week. The next level move is to dummy signal one play and run something completely different. Those are counterintelligence maneuvers in football’s version of spy craft. But let’s be clear, that scouting rule was not put in place because of ethics. It was put in as a cost-cutting measure at a time when controlling football spending was something that the NCAA and schools cared about. The NCAA limited staff sizes and enforced those limits, all in the name of containing costs. Obviously that era of fiscal responsibility is long past. Also, fun fact.... Urban Meyer had a person attending every Michigan football game his whole tenure at Ohio State. Look what it got him....

So, some guy is supposed to have "stolen" the signs that coaches make in clear view of stadiums full of people, and the TV cameras. I think the NCAA is just pissed at Harbaugh because he's spoken out in favor of the players getting some money. Being fair to the players at the expense of the NCAA and the huge quantities of money the universities made off of football is guaranteed to be punished. Something is crooked, and Harbaugh ain't it.

Who hired the PI/PR firm?... Is the biggest unanswered question. Likely the answer is OSU. So... going forward, Michigan can now just hire a PI/PR firm to find dirt on OSU and then feed the media dubious stories daily (many of which have been proven untrue such as "rescinding the contract offer" and that the video recording was happening by employees of Michigan)?

Why are we so worried about this??? Here is a new way of looking at this!!!! Every college football game is scouted, what is the difference, scouting the game, ON THE FIELD, or watching the hand signals from the side line, ALSO ON THE FIELD?????? No I'm not a fan of the Wolverines or Harbaugh, in fact I can't stand either!!!!!! I'm just getting sick of sports writers always trying to making something out of nothing!
