I know I have a lot of SEC fans that will not agree with me but both teams should be in this year unless somebody wins by 30+. I hope they do not have to repeat first round of playoff they should be ranked where they don't. Loser gets Georgia winner has chance to more than likely play Georgia or who knows play again. Some interesting stats about this game: (Source: Yahoo) Ohio State is 26-22-1 at Ohio Stadium against Michigan, the winner of the dedication game for the stadium in 1922. Michigan had a winning record at the Horseshoe until 2010. Ohio State has won nine in a row against Michigan in Columbus. The last Michigan win at Ohio Stadium came in 2000. Michigan leads the rivalry, which was first played in 1897, by a mark of 59-52-6. The Wolverines' seven-game advantage includes the 2010 game Ohio State vacated because of NCAA sanctions, a 37-7 Ohio State victory that the Wolverines recognize but the Buckeyes do not in official records. Since joining the B10 in 1912, the head to head record is 52-48-4 in favor of Ohio State.

Here’s my take on OSU vs UM. I’m taking OSU -7.5. Why? I’m concerned about UM’s offense. Their RB room is banged up. Corum won’t be able to cut well if he plays. OSU has a MUCH more physical and disciplined front 7 than they did a year ago which will match Michigan OL. The pressure will be on JJ and WRs and that’s not Michigan’s brand of offense and they have yet to prove they can win a close game through the air. Also, home field advantage for OSU will impact Michigan’s offensive communication. I don’t think Michigan can score more than the mid 20s. Now let’s talk the other side of the ball. OSU offense had questions starting with the Iowa game. The run game was ineffective from both a scheme and RB health standpoint. But in the last 2 weeks, OSU has provided answers. They went to a vertical run game and found success. Even though the skill players for OSU can succeed on the perimeter, the OL is not built for outside run blocking and Iowa provided the template for how to expose that. Even Northwestern had the OSU run game figured out. But OSU OL can move people downhill. When they leaned into that is when they opened the run game back up. And then the importance of Dallan Hayden’s emergence cannot be over emphasized. Miyan and Henderson have been battling injuries all season and were alternating games just to keep par. The coaches finally let Dallan step up and he showed the ability to find and hit holes with authority. And when he does, he’s gaining 4-6 yards consistently. And that’s all OSU needs to keep offensive balance. Michigan’s defense hasn’t seen an offense like OSU, but OSU has seen a defense like Michigan. I think OSU scores in the 30s. My prediction: OSU 35, Michigan 24. OSU inches away from Michigan possession by possession and forces Michigan to look to the passing game after half time. Michigan will have some success in the shorter passing game, but OSU’s front 7 will keep Michigan off schedule enough to limit their scoring opportunities.
@33bmitchem2 жыл бұрын
Michigan fan here and this analysis seems very plausible and well spoken. I dont see Michigan suddenly finding a passing game that alters Ohio St's defensive plan tostop the run first. Which with UM's RB room not close to 100% that will give OSU's defense plenty of opportunities for 3 and outs. Without a solid run game and controlling the clock Michigan could be in trouble giving OSU's offense the ball more than they want. Last year Michigan was able to pressure Stroud and get him off his timing and to me that will be the difference between last year and this year. Mike Morris is a respectable DE but I dont think Michigan will be able to pressure Stroud like they did last year. I expect Stroud to actually have a big game and throw his name back in the front runner Heisman race. Makes ma sad to say it but without a 100% running game Michigan will struggle to score unless Moody has 7 FG's (lol) Makes me cherish last years win even more but this year OSU 34 - 17 Michigan Go Blue

With the banged up backfield, I'm wondering if Harbaugh is going to try to pull a Lloyd Carr circa 2008 (Carr's last game) when they beat the heavily favored Florida Gators (with Heisman-winning Tim Tebow) by uncharacteristically opening up the offense and throwing the ball all over the field (remember, it was the same season that UM lost the opener to App State). So far, this season, UM has been pretty cautious running JJ McCartney since there's no experience backup behind him, but that probably goes out the window on Saturday. I'm guessing both Corum and Edwards will play, but I'm not sure how healthy they'll be, and it looked like even Stokes was hurt in the Illinois game. 4th string Isiah Gash may be the only actually healthy RB on team. So, if I had to bet, I'd bet on OSU winning, but I'm not at all sure this game is going to follow the expected script.
@DannyWilliamH2 жыл бұрын
That instance is the only glimmer of hope that a UM fan should ever have about there being no chance of opening up. That game shocked me back then and still does. A totally different offense that day. Is Jim capable of that? Even if he is, can they incorporate anything like that in such short time (throwing aside the ridiculous notion of holding back)? Knowing the committee they way we do, do you really think Michigan (if they cover and lose) gets in CFP over a 2-loss LSU if LSU beats Georgia and TCU wins out? They should but won't because committee would rather see 2 SEC teams (with a total of 3 losses) than 2 Big 10 teams (with only one loss between them).

@@JoshPateCFB there has been a fair number of UM fans that think there is a massive passing offense that has been in hiding. Thinking that JJ will come out in this game and pass for 450 or something. Never mind the fact that even if JJ threw the ball enough times to cover that yardage, 1/2 the balls would be off target, 1/3 would get dropped, the remaining 1/6 would be completions.
