It's easy to see why Mick Foley is such a good writer. He collects his thoughts and then tells a great story. There's an art to this. After years of concussions, I'm amazed at how coherent he is. He keeps it real. I always enjoy his commentary.

Even though I was a Von Erich fan--I was always a HUGE fan of Terry Gordy!!! He was really something special!!! He could blur that line between heel and face at such a young age--which is remarkable. Had things not happened as they did, I can see him slamming a cage door on Vince McMahon's head and beating Steve Austin to the punch (no pun intended lol!!!) to one of the greatest story lines in wrestling history!!! A sad and tragic "what if..."

I was at the ECW Arena for the Gordy vs Raven match. Gordy looked great as Raven sold his ass off. Great heat that night. Best wrestling show I've ever seen live.

Bless Terry Gordy. I'm revisiting his career now & what a great, great talent. Watching the World Class run and just saw an episode where a fan crossed the velvet rope. Ya never cross the rope with Terry. The fan was launched about 15 feet out of camera in the most powerful Terry Gordy shove you'll ever see.

Looooved Terry Gordy with the Freebirds in World Class out of Dallas. I grew up in OKC watching Mid-South but we could get WCCW on either Friday or Saturday nights. And of course Cactus Jack 'Manson', with either Gary Hart or Skandor Akbar, I forget(I am 55, memory isn't what it used to be)... Kabuki, The Midnight Express w/Corny, The Fantastics, etc. Sooo much fun!!

In the late 80s I live in Jacksonville Fl every Sunday morning I would watch wrestling and man I enjoyed watching the Freebirds vs the Von Erich’s 👍🏻 but what suck I never get to see the Freebirds win the match outright 😂 something would always happen to illuminate the tag team match 😡 Years later I was at o’Hare airport seen Terry Gordy walking in a hurry I could not believe how big the guy was in person, was going to ask for his autograph but I did not want to bother the guy but now I regret it. Huge fan of the Freebirds 👍🏻

you watch some Gordy's old All Japan matches and even his earlier matches with the Freebirds, he was easily one of the best wrestlers in the business with his intense bully style, it was some of the best wrestling you've ever seen, but as the 90s wore on, he got into popping the pills and it took a toll and that decline was heartbreaking and he died broken and basically bed ridden not even 50 years old.
@mikebryant614

Terry OD'd on that flight to Japan about midway through , so he was without medical attention for literally hours, he easily could have died.Even so, the oxygen deprivation he suffered from being so deeply comatose that his breathing was compromised, did permanent damage to his brain.He was never the same again, which was a shame as he was so young and such an amazing talent.

In Continental if hes reffering to the 1 he first worked that the Fullers ran and sold and ran and sold the only bottles getting broken was the excellent DIRTY WHITE BOY vs TOM PRICHARD angle. I think the same night after he busted the bottle over Prichards head he took him to the ring & hung him over the top rope at the BHAM Fairgrounds. Even watching it later knowing it’s a work I thought something went wrong because Prichards face goes from red to purple. Prichard said in a interview later the rope was to tight & thank god the Armstrongs got him down when he did because he legit couldn’t breathe. When Continental was SouthEastern 80/81 Michale Hayes & Gordy had a feud that ended n a loser leave town cage match at Boutwell. After the match they reunited n the locker room&they left & went to Midsouth. I DONT recall any Freebirds ever returning to Continental. Is there any Memphis fans who could tell me if Foley is talking about MEMPHIS Continental. Did GORDY or STARR work Memphis in 88/89???
