I never heard of Brian having a fall out with Jimi Hendrix. They were rather close. It was Brian who introduced Jimi to the crowd at Monterey Pop Festival and the song All Along The Watch Tower, is Brian playing the thwack you hear at the end of each bar in the intro, on an instrument called a vibraslap. Due to Brian's death, Hendrix plays Lover Man dedicated to Brian Jones at Tonight show with Flip Wilson as host on July 10 !!

Brian Jones adored Jimi Hendrix while the insecurities were felt by Eric Clapton in particular. Brian Jones came back into his own in getting Mick and Keith to agree to his way out ideas in introducing sitar, marimbas, dulcimer, mellotron ,etc which transformed the songs. Brian wasn’t just a blues purist. He was two or three other musicians as well. His difficulties and insecurities involved those he felt paranoid about but not those he didn’t. Andrew Oldham was a brilliant manager in terms of creating images and stunts but not much of a producer but worst of all took sides, for Mick and Keith but at Brian’s expense. One big problem is that the Stones like a lot of groups toured too hard in

As others here have commented, no record of tension or resentment from Brian toward Jimi Hendrix. It's also pretty ridiculous to keep raking up the "Brian was a druggie" theme (he never touched heroin which he derided as "prescription death") when the other member was a longtime junkie. KZbin video headlines always scream "Someone finally opens about Somebody Else" or "Someone HATED Somebody Else" and then fail to deliver or else over exaggerate a minor detail.

If he was good, he could always have a solo career. Obviously, he was not a team player. Dylan was solo, and Cohen was solo, not to mention Clapton. Dylan collaborated with a great many musicians and groups. So it is possible if your focus is on what you create and not enjoying being the centre of attention.

He dug a hole in life that he couldn't get out of with numerous unwanted kids from different women that he didn't help support, preferring to spend his money on drinking and drugging. First he lost control of the band he started. But, if they had stayed playing straight blues, we never would have heard of them. Manager Andrew Oldham knew this. Then falling in love with a groupie (Anita Pallenberg) who left him for for Keith after Brian kept abusing her. Bad decision after bad decision. You only get so many in one lifetime. (Didn't know he had a feud with Hendrix though and I question the validity of that info.) A sad and tragic story, one of the saddest in Rock history in my opinion because he originally had so much promise. Still, he was the only one who could have changed the inevitable outcome and he didn't. So......

The real Rolling Stones with Brian Jones! (Jones was an instrumentalist, who played 11 instruments.) While he didn't directly write any of their songs, he was, um, 'instrumental' in their early sound. He played the sitar on, 'Paint it Black', and was the low-string, bass-like rhythm guitar on, 'It's All Over Now". Had Brian lived and stayed with the band, I think the Rolling Stones, through the years, would've been a more interesting band, and I think Mick and Keith Richards would agree.

Would have, should have.... No point in speculating. The bottom line is he didn't stay and he couldn't stay because you cannot have a well-functioning band with a dysfunctional, unreliable and cantankerous member. If Jones were to make anything out of the talents he had but not being a team player, he could always go solo and have backing bands. Dylan, as a solo artist, lasted as long as Stones did. But was able to work with others.

Some people just are. Such people would envy a priest for wearing a soutane as the old joke says.. Jones was this type of person. He would have been twice as bitter because he introduced Hendrix to the scene and he quickly and without effort eclipsed Brian Jones. And "the bastard" did show appropriate gratitude to Jones. This sucks for people like Jones. How dare such softly spoken, unassuming and shy Hendrix become almost God within 2 months with no one remembering or expressing gratitude to Brian Jones for introducing him.

It's ok to have that opinion as Brian contributed to the sound at that time in the 1960's, but when you're in a band which I have for half of my life, someone hooked on drugs or even alcohol can be a cancer. Many times during "Beggar Banquets" sessions, they shut Brian's channel off because he was off in outer space. With a tour coming up, The Stones had to do something. At least Keith and Mick had the balls to tell Brian directly. The Beatles sent Brian Epstein to do the dirty work firing Pete. I recently had opportunity to talk with Pete and he confirmed that none of the four Beatles ever spoke to Pete again. Even when Pete's band and Beatles played on same bill - he said they passed by him like he was a ghost.

There is nothing much to tell. Jones may have been talented but he ended up being a junkie and unable to use his talents, his personality disintegrated. For some individuals, alcohol is toxic and quickly causes symptoms of mental illness. And this may have been the case with Brian Jones because he deteriorated almost before your eyes. That night, he was stoned or drunk and fell into the swimming pool. His girlfriend at the time found him face down in water. You can trip and lose your balance when sober, it's a lot easier when you're drunk and it's deadly when you lose your balance near the swimming pool when there is no one around because it's night, and anyway, we've pissed everyone off and they avoid you.

@ The police have opened and closed the investigation at least a further 3 times since 1969. The most recent time being 2010. - Fresh water was found in his lungs during the autopsy, not chlorinated water. - There was a puncture wound on his left side. The size of a needle. - The ambulance wasn’t called until at least 3 hours after his time of death. - There is evidence that Janet Lawson, Anna Wohlin, Tom Keylock and Frank Thorogood all lied in their police statements. - There was an attempted murder of Joan Fitzsimons three weeks after Brian Jones died. The two are believed to be linked. - Tom Keylock ran a cover up operation alongside his brother Frank who was a CID officer in London at the time. - There is recorded evidence that there was close to a dozen people present when officers arrived at the scene the night Brian had passed away. Not just the 4 that were documented. - The DCI Marshall at the time has even written that he felt this affair was most unsatisfactory in its conclusions. He had also been told by the CID “what happens at Cotchford, stays at Cotchford”. - Brian’s body was left unattended for several hours, until it was collected at around 6am in the morning. The 999 call was reported to have been at Midnight, and Brian is believed to have died at 9:30pm. - Frank Thorogood was actually taken away and treated by the ambulance that turned up after midnight as he had sustained an injury to his wrist. - It is believed that Frank Thorogood confessed to his lover Joan Fitzsimons later that day. Which is why her attempted murder three weeks later seems to link to this.
