Mick Jenkins is among the Top Tier in the up-and-coming list. He first displayed his MC ability in Ps & Qs which was amazing and now just how he shows is lyrical ability over the well produced beat is incredible. Loving the progression I'm seeing from song to song and the wisdom within his writing which shows true promise and growth in the game. Good looks on this Reaction Lost In Vegas !!

Another Chicago artist is Alex Wiley. He's made a track with Mick Jenkins called Automatic and has a lot of songs with relaxing vibes and slick lyricism. He's similar to Chance the Rapper and Vic Mensa, other Chicago artists I think you guys would love.

This is probably the song that made me a Mick Jenkins fan. Everytime i show someone this song, they dont get the point because they only hear the hook. This song is so bumpin.

To play devil's advocate, these types of artists will never be at the forefront because they are actually speaking and not promoting death and drugs. We have to wake up and realize that our culture has been compromised. We have more junkies than scholars. Shit is wild

Jordan Clemons kendrick sold 2 million copies this year. Cole sold 1 million don't sleep on lyrical rap
@bekahnavarro6 жыл бұрын
Jordan Clemons I realize this isn't exactly the same type of music, but look at Twenty One Pilots. They've managed to become a success using elements of rap, folk, rock, reggae, even Elvis. They're 2 white Christian boys from Ohio that don't curse, and talk about depression and dealing/fighting with suicidal feeling.
@blommen6 жыл бұрын
Mick takes tons of drugs though, his last album was basically a love letter to drugs through the theme of love.
@JDE906 жыл бұрын
This is wrong. It's because the song isn't catchy. It can has literally any meaning in the world, but has to be catchy for anybody to be in the forefront. In the end music is different from books or poetry, because it's music.
@drewdaniels82657 жыл бұрын
I know you guys haven't done a album (reaction/review) yet but I think "The Waters" deserves to be analyzed as a whole. Mick did his shit on that album and thats a unbiased real response haha but yea do the whole album its lyrical for y'all with the old man soul too. and if you read this fr I'm from Oside CA and I gotta support my local artist so GO PEEP John Givez he's next up all his music is crazy.

“We are not on the same plateau Chateau de Chenonceau You just throwing shade in my shadow” Is a reference to a famous historian palace or chateau as the French say that over looks a villiage built on a plateau so the wordplay of that is insane just though you should know the wordplay he was spitting right there is insane

Firstly I must say thanks for exposing this Mick Jenkins to me. He is truly a craftsman. I had a few of your reactions to metal come up in my recommendations. It's refreshing to see how open y'all are to music after going through your catalog. You both look genuinely engaged in the music as a whole, regardless of genre. No need to even think twice about subbing. Perhaps Iron Maiden could be of some good material. Or for some rockin' blues you can look into Stevie Ray Vaughan. Scuttlebuttin' has a beautiful lick that you'll both likely enjoy for a quick video.

Great work guys i have been watching you guys for awhile now and really like everything you guys do when dissecting songs! I'm like you guys i like lyricism in songs so I'm gonna request some lyrical songs by my fav artist! logic - no biggie ( dope song with a beat i know you guys will like) logic - growing pains 2 logic - all Sinatra everything Drake - 5 am in Toronto ( lyrical for Drake standards ) Kendrick - sing about me j cole- lost ones ( not very lyrical but deep and somewhat lyrical) kendrick- art of peer pressure I know you guys can't react to all these but there just there to let you know what's the best representation of them and not them chill sorry songs people request from these artist! Also keep up the good work and congrats on 30k+ subscribers you deserve it!

Let me start by saying I have listened to rock, alt, metal all that shit since I was 12 or 13 yrs old. I've tried to listen to rap before because a appreciate music lyrics and to me, that is the main attraction to rap. But some stuff today I just find silly. It goes without saying I showed up for the rock reactions. But for some reason, I still can't explain this particular song just seems so legit to me and I 100% would have NEVER heard this on my own. So, thank you for that. I guess it goes to show that Free-Thinking is great but, the unification of Free-Thinkers from all facets of ideology is a force that can still revolutionize the world. P.S. This shit's on my playlist now!!!!
