Yeah, i think that's about the way of it alright. In my opinion the kit was designed to give the builder an outline to elaborate on,a blank canvas. I look at this kit as an exciting build, it would be boring if everything just slotted together as in a jigsaw puzzle. I enjoy the challenges presented by scale modelling but at the minute my main challenge is getting the time to make any substantial progress on the build.

I built a Mick Reeves Spitfire all balsa construction, six foot wing span and a 250cc engine about 25 years ago. Took 2 months to build and I never got to fly the thing because life got in the way. It was sold to someone who kept it in their garage and never flew it either.

+InTheNameOfJustice That's a really fast build time, i spent 2 months at the wing alone.

***** I had three months off work so lots of time to do it in. Most only get to work evenings and weekends.
@robcrawford96578 жыл бұрын
Yes i only get about 3 hours a night. Would you not buy it back and fly it? it's a shame to have it waste away in someones garage!

***** This was a long time ago and I have moved several times since so I don't know if the guy is even still alive. It's been a huge regret though. The company I was with went into temporary receivership and I was laid off for three months until a buyer was found and I got my job back, so I needed the money badly. Initially, we thought we would only be off work for a month and my daughter bought the model for me to give me something to do and take my mind off things. As time dragged on, my daughter lost her job too and I was forced to start selling stuff and the last thing I sold was the plane, the radio etc. But yeah, it still grieves me. The guy hung it in the rafter of his garage and a friend of mine asked him if he had flown it and he said, "No. I am scared too in case I crash it." Why the hell buy the thing then? Still, people are people and he helped me out by buying it so what he does with it is up to him.

I see, maybe you will get the chance to build another one someday.

The prices are all on their site but the good thing is you can leave out items and buy them at a later date or just order them as you go along, i think this cost me about £675.

I hope that you will do some build videos for this kit.

TOPHAT1966GS Yea for sure, i have just taken delivery of a kolm IL135 270 crank which is the German lump for this British machine (the irony didn't go unnoticed) but in my eyes it's the only gas engine worthy of going into the spitty purely for the sound it produces. I will get a video up on that as soon as i get the bits to make it go, it has electric on-board start, i can hardly wait.
