I'm so glad someone is finally showcasing the 80's bands. These guys invented the guitar shredder and drum gods. They really deserve their place in history. I was lucky I had a step dad who was 60 and 70's Era and an older brother who was 80's Era I was 13 in 1988 and got all this music to influence my playing. A awesome time in history.

Mick Sweda, Jimmy D'Anda, Lonnie Vencent are the main men. They kicked ass when they came through Detroit to support their first release. I had a chance to meet Mick in the parking lot after the show, and he was one of the most down to earth, grounded dudes that i ever met Salute to those three gentlemen

These interview subjects are right up my alley. Thank you, Jason. I look forward to every one you upload. A Sea Hags (Ron Yocom) interview would be greatly appreciated if you could (or have the desire to) pull it off. Their one record on Chrysalis is just incredible. Lots of questions to ask from the GNR, Nymphs, Badlands & Metallica connections to the unfortunate passing of Chris S. Mick comes off as incredibly intelligent and introspective (not to mention he seems like a really great guy). I enjoyed the BulletBoys back in the day but like them even more so today. I had seen them in a small club during their headline tour in support of the debut album. This band was incredibly tight and just ripped it up like they were playing a stadium. That night, I came to realize that Jimmy D’Anda was one of the best drummers of the genre. Of course, Mick’s playing was just killer. He could have (should have) been known as the next great guitar hero. Mick is much more talented than many of his peers who came away with a lot more recognition. It’s nice to see he has lent his talents to other genres and still has the willingness to give the fans the real BulletBoys. I’ll go see them again if they come to my neck of the woods. Too bad my BulletBoys tour t-shirt is long gone.

Just curious...but have you interviewed ANY of the guys in Triumph yet? As you may remember, Triumph had their glam metal phase in the 80's with the excellent studio albums "Thunder Seven" (1984,) "The Sport of Kings" (1986,) "Surveillance" (1987) and even the great 1985 live album "Stages." If that ever takes place, I would personally like to know the answer to the question a lot of hard rock and metal fans want to ask Rik, Gil or Mike. What was their reaction when critics first compared them to the other power rock trio from the Great White North...Rush (a hard rock band most fans of the glam scene dislike for whatever reason, imho)? Why did the two trios NEVER tour together? Will there ever be a Triumph reunion album or tour? And was there ever a feud between them and Rush (I NEVER heard anything about feuds between these two bands)? Fyi, BOTH bands had quite a few metal bands opening for them back in the day. Rush had Saxon, Mr. Big, Dream Theater, and I think Badlands opening for them (the latter was very briefly,) and I can't remember exactly which ones opened up for Triumph (I was too young to remember, when Rik left the band in 1987.) But that would be a great interview I think many of your subs would enjoy. And yes...I do like Rush... a lot. I'm not sure how well ANY of these metal bands that opened for Rush got along well with Geddy, Alex and Neil because they came from much distinguished backgrounds? Anyway, ✌☮!

Didn't mean to go off the subject. King Kobra was a great melodic hard rock/glam band. I think they, along with Killer Dwarfs, were one of Triumph's openers in the mid-late 80's.

@midohiobuckeyeaorwarrior9743
@midohiobuckeyeaorwarrior9743 3 жыл бұрын
@@randymoran67 Well...according to drummer/singer Gil Moore and bassist Mike Levine on "Rockline" back in 2003..they actually had a glam phase briefly (in sound only...NOT look)...beginning with 1984's "Thunder Seven" and 1986's "The Sport Of Kings." It ended after 1987's "Surveillance," when guitarist/singer Rik Emmett left the band. In the mid 80's, Rik and Gil began wearing spandex leather trousers in their videos and in concert (Rik wore spandex even before that in videos.) And Rik's hair grew longer and he continued wearing spandex and leather during his solo career in the early 1990's (look at him and his teased mullet on the cover of his 1990 solo debut album "Absolutely." Looks pretty glam right there lol.) And to put it bluntly...Triumph fit in with the rest of the bands from the glam scene because of their sound. They had a glam "style" very similar to that of Quiet Riot, Whitesnake, VH or Def Leppard...the latter two who also were NOT a glam band (VH were a melodic hard rock band (later arena rock) and Def Lep began with the NWOBHM.) And judging by your comment...it sounded as if you were disparaging Triumph...or judging them harshly...because they were NOT a glam band. Am I right?! I still think Jason should do an interview with members of Triumph...especially Rik Emmett. John from Rock History Music already interviewed Mike Levine. An interview with Rik or Gil would be awesome.

In my mind, Mick Sweda (& the rest of the band) never got their proper respect. The 1st two albums, got me through my 1st couple of years in the USMC, cuz it rocked so hard! I met Jimmy (the drummer) back in 2007-08 when his kid played drums for a classic rock cover band, at the Troubadour (I was security), & told him how much I loved his drumming. But, Mick's tone, Tasteful solos & killer riffs, DEFINITELY were a big part of my love for BB! As far as the VH comparison: outside of Marq's long, bleached hair & hip swiveling ala David Lee Roth, SONICALLY, they were way GRITTIER than VH ever was. I saw them with Cinderella & Winger(?) at the Philadelphia Spectrum, & they were AMAZING!

IMO, the second KK was really really boring... not the greatness of the first by a long shot. It definitely did not rock. I really only liked the Iron Eagle song. The first album was amazing... Bulletboys were amazing... but the second album was just not very good, imo. I even like pop music.

Actually, I am listening to the album now because of this... and I can definitely see why it was way way too much of a change for the worse for me to like it back then. HOWEVER, if I put my mind into a mindset of thinking it is Foreigner or Lou Gramm, I can see the good in it. It is just not what most of us wanted from King Kobra. Guitars are very downplayed and keyboards are certainly too much and too loud in the mix.

One of my most memorable rock and roll disappointments was taking a chance on KK's Thrill Of A Lifetime. :) I was 12 & so ready to love it and I thought it was gonna Kick Ass! I was like WTF! Like you said, it did not rock. I may have to revisit it to see if I can hear a rockin' album buried under all the keyboards like Mick talked about.

@WasteSomeTimeWithJasonGreen You forgot to ask Mick Sweda if Mark has learned to keep his damn mouth shut, and to not trash other bands, which was the reason that Mick walked away from the band, on top of other reasons.

@@WasteSomeTimewithJasonGreen Ahh ok cool, well, i'm sure that conversation was very interesting to say the least. Mich, Lonnie, Jimmy are all good dudes, who deserve to have a better front man.
