Being a Florida kid skater back in the late 70s, Upland and Marina Del Ray were like Mecca...my 2 dream parks that I never got to visit. 😢

Malba had a thousand tricks on the right side hip. The rocket tail stall he did in this, was my favorite trick to see him do on that hip. Then Salba would roll in at 100mph and air over Mickey doing a trick on the hip, back into the pipe. When it wasnt crowded Malba would do 50 tricks in a row on that corner, like it was a 12 ft fuckin mini ramp. No coping either. He would do the same thing at the back of the pipe on that other weird wall. So rad!

Just imagine if he'd had modern equipment, the kind of speed he could generate hitting those corners.

he still kills every pool, don’t think for a second his age slows him down. lives near me and i see him once every blue moon, homie still holds it down wherever he goes. still gnarly and humble.

steve has calmed down his skating compared to micke if you wanna compare the two, micke’s still out there doing stand up grinds, handplants, and airs. micke’s seriously in it for the agro side. steve seems like he has much more fun carving and catching hip airs.

But he could and would turn it up for contests. I saw him a get a third place at the big half pipe event in '87. He had style that can never be faked,.
