Clifton Sutherland Yes twas a long and normal night, i was hungry for a burger, but not just any burger, i was hungry for a burger king burger. Getting in my car i could sense the normalness in the air, it was pretty normal, i drove down to the nearest burger king. Pulling up i parked my car and walked inside. I ordered a number two with no lettuce onions or tomatoes, and when it got to me it was a normal burger with the right specifications! After enjoying the normal burger i needed to relive myself in the bathroom, so the the bathroom i went. Inside i found a usb on the ground, so i picked it up and went to the urinal and peed. After i went home and plugged in the flashdrive and watched the video in which we now comment on

Everyone welcomed him home as a hero. They cheered his name as he stepped onto the tarmac. Nobody could see this was only a hollow shell of the mouse they knew. He married Minnie, but it wasn't long before she couldn't take the alcohol on his breath. Last he saw her was looking back through the window of the taxi headed anywhere from Toontown. He couldn't look little Max in the eyes anymore. Donald couldn't get him to answer calls. The House of Mouse foreclosed. The nights got longer and the sleep got scarcer. But that dark night he would finally rest. They found the photo clutched tightly in his hand. A photo of two young, happy go-lucky guys ready to take on the world together. They wondered how this could happen in the happiest place on earth, where dreams come true. But all Mickey's dreams died in that sweltering jungle in 'Nam, never to come true.

"Was it worth it?" Mickey asked himself, almost rhetorically. Of course it wasn't. But the killing was the only thing Mickey came to know. It'd been years since the war, since the senseless killing--including that of his best friend. If he could go back, would he have made a different choice? Would he have chosen his friend over a country that would put him in this insane goddamn position and make him want to put his service pistol to his temple like he was right now? Fact was, he couldn't go back. His friend was gone, and so was he. He had told himself the loss of his friend was the price of freedom, of justice, but it had been too much. How was this freedom? How was THAT justice? No, he couldn't go back. What was good in him never left the jungle that day--and was burned to ash in the napalm. He pulled the hammer back. Right before he pulled the trigger, he thought of that first day they went fishing. They were young but old enough to know the meaning of death, seeing that fish writhing on the ground as it gasped desperately for water to pass over its gills--water that would never come. Silently, a couple of tears streamed down Mickey's face. They reached his chin, seemed almost to ponder the precipice, and then fell to the floor. A moment later, so did he.

“So how are you doing today Micky? How am I? How am I?! There are things I’ve done that cannot be undone. People I’ve lost who cannot be found. Things I’ve seen that I will never unsee. I dread the night. Behind every shadow is a Cong waiting, rifle in hand. I don’t dare to sleep, because every time I close my eyes, I see men blown apart by mortar shells, or cooked alive by napalm. They claw at my flesh, hands grasping, teeth gnashing, eyes filled with hate and pain. Until I am overcome, suffocating at the bottom of a pile of rotted men with the stench of death catching in my throat and choking me. I wake up screaming, drenched in a cold sweat, still hearing the screams of the damned in my ear! Oh, what I wouldn’t do to make it stop! To have just one day of peace! MAKE IT STOP! MAKE IT STOP! I can barely stand it. I have to make it stop. Have to make it stop. Make it stop. make it stop ...stop.”

This video has 2 ways to interpret from what I've read in the comments: 1. Mickey shot Goofy, either from an accidental shooting or Mickey wanted to shoot him which makes no sense. Mickey then left Goofy to die in the napalm that would come soon after. Clearing Mickey's evidence that he shot Goofy. 2. Mickey and Goofy got ambushed by VC or NVA troopers and they called in a napalm strike to clear the area out. Goofy got shot and couldn't make it to the Huey in time so he gave Mickey his revolver and told him to shoot him, he also gave Mickey what assumed to be a document with a postcard. Mickey couldn't take out his best friend and boarded the Huey and left Goofy to die in the ensuing napalm strike. Mickey was drowned in guilt years after Goofy's death and shot himself with the revolver his best friend gave him. Tune in next time on Mickey Mouse Clubhouse were Donald Ducks fights the Chinese in the Korean War and earns a medal of honor! *Edit: After watching the prequel, I now understand the true story of everything that happened, if you haven't watched it yet, please do*

Twenty-eight years in that godforsaken jungle. Killing soldiers wasn't so bad. I hardly remember it. But burning those villages, watching those naked peasants cry... I see it every day. I love how the art style has evolved, but watching them chronologically (Never Came Back, Descent Into Madness, Mickey Was Here), especially with the context of Decent showing that the characters were a delusion, really recontextualizes it. If the characters are a twisted coping mechanism, or worse, then seeing Mickey go from human to the crudest interpretation of a cartoon character in the series is downright heart-wrenching. Seeing his already fragile sanity crumble away, watching him break out of his delusion only to fall deeper into it than ever before as his mind tries to keep him from pulling the trigger... man.

This is a short animation of a veteran (micky) who'd depressed that he came back and his buddy (Goofy) had to be left behind by him and his squad cause he wasnt making it out alive. “After Vietnam, and after his work as a detective, Mickey was broken... He had watched both of his brothers, Goofy and Donald, die in front of him. The pain in his head from those events, never stopped... The truth is, the man that we knew long ago, died with Goofy in Vietnam. The new man, the broken man, came back looking for something better, and found Donald, who he watched die to the hands of criminals. The war in his head never stopped, and with the realization that there was no such thing as good men, he put an end to his pain. I wish that the man I married so long ago, is judged not by his actions, but by his regrets.” - Minnie

No one among us can claim to be an inherently good person (though there are many among us who would be objectively good); it is our ability as individuals to decide what we do and to perceive morality that allows us choice. good or bad, we make our own decisions.
